Reviews:
I have read this book multiple times, it is life changing when it comes to how to communicate effectively with others, you can apply it to all walks of life not just business. I always recommend this book to others and I just bought it again as a gift to someone. Highly recommend.Natalie
Since reading this book, I feel like for the first time I have been given the basic instructions to approach obstacles in a positive way with a degree of confidence in a positive outcome. We have a child with Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and we have been in therapy for 8 years with multiple counselors and psychologists with little to no improvement. She is frequently against anything and everything that we try to teach her or help her with and has no reaction to any type of discipline. In her mind she is always right, always has all the answers and when something goes wrong she is always the faultless victim. I have frequently felt completely hopeless and overwhelmed, and I have thrown up my hands and said that I have run out of ideas and answers about what we could do to help her. Now that I have read this book I have had floods of ideas in how I could approach day-to-day issues without getting as upset or trying to correct her behavior, and I have found many faults in my previous methods which obviously were not working. I have just finished this book so I can't say that we have worked any miracles but I began applying these simple principles while still reading the book and we are already experiencing more pleasant behaviors and finding more enjoyment in our time together. I have already recommended this book to several friends and family members and I'm hoping that they read it and can benefit from it as I feel I have!torridtemptations
This book teaches people to be considerate of other peoples feelings. It teaches many other valuable things too though, such as how to interview well, things to say that make you more pleasant to be around, etc. It definitely gets you to think about how you could and should "do better". It has helped many people to transform from being socially awkward and defensive to someone that seems collected and confident.Honest Mom

Reviews:
I've read all of Mr. Gladwell's books and if you're only going to read one, IMO, this is his most important, and at the risk of hyperbole, I'll call it brilliant. He argues, and supports with substantial evidence, the idea that sheer luck plays an enormous role in how our lives turn out. He stops short of taking the extreme deterministic position agreed upon by, oh, Einstein, Freud, and BF Skinner, to name a few of the 20th centuries most influential thinkers, but many readers will have their minds opened to consider that possibility more seriously. The book is also the story of failure. I guess if that had been incorporated into the title it would have been less appealing. And although examples of failure due to bad luck are no doubt far more common than The Beatles or Steve Jobs, thus who experience failure, also because of (bad) luck, don't stick out to be studies and included. If there's a weakness it's that examples that con't support his thesis are ignored. On the other hand. if his thesis is correct, and I think it is, there are no contradictory example. Outliers is, IMO, a truly great book. I can't thin of a book I'd recommend more highly.sec9611
What is an outlier? The author of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell, is also the same author who wrote #1 international bestsellers The Tipping Point and Blink. These two books were considered to be the most influential books of the past decade. Gladwell is a staff writer for The New Yorker and was a business and science reporter at the Washington Post. In Outliers, Gladwell is determined to help the people in the world have a better understanding of success by sharing some incredible patterns researched by professionals and some unique characteristics of those considered to be outliers. Patterns described by Gladwell were in depth and complicated to the average person. Also, there were sometimes things ordinary people would not see or identify like he did. For example, the 10,000 hours rule he talks about was a unique pattern for two reasons. First, he explains most outliers have practiced their unique talents and skills for a minimum of 10,000 hours before they became excellent and considered them an outlier for being successful. Second, Gladwell emphasizes that practicing 10,000 hours is nearly impossible and can only be done through hard work and numerous special opportunities early on in life during their teenage and middle school days. Even if you havent practiced 10,000 hours or werent born in January, February, or March doesnt mean you cant be an outlier. Over the course of the book, Gladwell restates the importance of hard work and that none of the considered outliers made it to the point they are at or had been at without. You have to put in hard work to fulfill the 10,000 hours rule and just as much hard work to sustain your unique ability and talents. Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell is an outstanding book and will change your perception of success significantly.pudgidinero
A very interesting and debatable topic! I personally would feel defeated if I thought the only way to achieve success was through luck and your birthday! Hard work along with natural ability should be most important which is why people should be encouraged to follow their instincts after being introduced to all possibilities. If one path doesn't work out, people should be encouraged to try another until they find where they belong. Life is not always easy………….bk13*2007

This is among the most interesting books on CD that I've ever listened to. Not only do I think it's worth listening to, I think it should be mandatory for everyone to listen to. I'm a boyscout leader and on a recent trip to the beach, I made two scouts listen to the CD despite our normal "no electronics" rule … it's just that educational. You'll not only be able to explain why many people succeed, you'll also get ideas on what it takes to be successful. You'll also learn what's 'not up to you' in terms of critical success factors. You'll learn what the 1800's, 1955, and 10,000 hours have in common. I'll give you a hint: Bill Gates was born in 1955 (I, unfortunately, didn't go into computers and was born in 1957 … I sell real estate in Charlotte at RLSTATE.COM LLC). Refer someone to me who buys a Charlotte area home and I'll be happy to send you "Outliers" on me, Bill Martin, Realtor/Broker/MBA – Accredited Buyers Representative.wbmartiniii

14. Templeton Plan: 21 Steps To Personal Success And Real Happiness [Book]

Product Details:
Sir john templeton (1912–2008), the wall street legend who has been described as “arguably the greatest global stock picker of the twentieth century,” clearly knew what it took to be successful. the most important thing, he observed, was to have strong convictions that guided your life—this was the common denominator he saw in all successful people and enterprises. fortunately for us, he was eager to share his own blueprint for personal success and happiness with the rest of the world. in the templeton plan, he laid out the twenty-one guiding principles by which he governed both his professional and personal life. these principles were grounded in virtues that he considered important enough to be considered the “laws of life”—they include honesty, perseverance, thrift, enthusiasm, humility, and altruism. from this moral foundation, templeton formulated a step-by-step plan to help improve anyone’s personal and professional life. among the steps he enumerates, readers will find: · four exercises that will help anyone find the positive in every negative · how to be the one person in ten that will productively use more time than they waste · the secret trait that separates great workers from good workers · how to control your thoughts for effective action · the practical applications of a sense of humility · how successful people approach risks differently from most people taken as a whole, the lessons contained within his twenty-one steps will help readers make lasting friendships, reap significant financial rewards, and find personal satisfaction. ever a believer in the future’s vast potential, templeton hoped that sharing his principles would inspire others to seek their own laws of life, formulate their own plans, and find success and happiness on a scale exponentially greater than his own. he freely admitted that he didn’t know everything and that there was yet much to be discovered about prosperity and joy. the templeton plan not only offers his recipe for success, but also shows us the way to formulate our own plans.

Fantastic book. The best of all the motivational books out. Easy to read. Doesn't waffle. A lot of books on this topic really could be cut in half. Lots of things are repeated. Not so in this book. Simple and to the point. Gave this book to my 5 teenage children for xams and their friends. Easy for them to read and understand. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Reviews:
Great book!! I've listened to it on Audible three times now and loved it so much that I bought the hard copy as well just to highlight and keep for immediate reference. Some of the knowledge in this book, I have applied to my life and it has immediately changed it! He talks about setting up good systems for habits which is honestly a mind-blowing concept! It's so simple but yet I've never thought about it before. Everyone wants to immediately change their habits, myself included, but never have any systems in place to achieve this. This book shows you how to succeed at this. So highly recommended! I've never been a person who had a favourite book but now I am and this is it!Atomic Amy

I read this book from start to finish all in one day I could not set it down! I have followed along with the author Ashley Flowers and her podcasts (huge crime junkie fan) for a long time now and she did not disappoint with this book. Every time I thought I knew what was gonna happen next there was another twist in the story and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole book. This is by far my new FAVORITE book and I will be buying multiple copies for Christmas presents. I would love for Ashley to write more books in the future and would buy them all in a heart beat.Kailey
If you've ever involuntarily blurted out 'And I'm Britt', this is the book for you. If you've pounced on this book before reading the blurb, allow me to enlighten you: this is a novel, not a super long episode of Crime Junkie in book form. Not that I'd ever open a book, see A Novel after the title and question every assumption I've ever made. All Good People Here (A Novel) primarily takes place in Wakarusa, Indiana, where Ashley and Britt grew up. In 1994, six year old January Jacobs died. Everyone in town knew Krissy, January's mother, murdered her but the case has officially remained unsolved. "You don't want to go back to that sad little town where that terrible thing happened." Margot hasn't lived in Wakarusa for twenty years but has returned to care for her beloved Uncle Luke. When a young girl is reported missing in a nearby town, Margot believes the person who killed her childhood friend has struck again. Margot is determined to use her crime reporting skills to solve the cases but she seems to be the only one seeing their similarities. This may be a small town but many of its residents are living with secrets. "What did you do?" Hearing the story from Krissy and Margot's perspectives, you learn about the dynamics of the Jacobs' family, how the investigation into January's death unfolded and the impact it has had on everyone close to the case in the subsequent years. A few key details about January and her death made me think of JonBenét Ramsey. Once I made that connection, I had trouble seeing anything else. I enjoyed tagging along as Margot followed up leads, although I did get a bit bogged down at times with what was happening with Luke. I guessed some of the reveals but, rather than being disappointed by this as I usually would be, it made me feel like I was being a good Crime Junkie. It's taken me two weeks since finishing this book to attempt writing a review and that's mostly due to the last time we see Margot in this book. Readers will likely either love or hate this scene. I loved it but, because I don't want to get all spoilery, I can't tell you why I loved it and that's what I really want to talk about. I'm looking forward to reading future books by Ashley. Until then, I'll keep getting my Crime Junkie fix whenever I can and remembering to always "Be weird. Be rude. Stay alive." Content warnings are included on my blog. Thank you so much to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for the opportunity to read this book.Schizanthus Nerd
As someone who typically doesn't read thrillers or mysteries, I truly enjoyed this debut novel from Ashley Flowers! The characters are well developed & enjoyable and the small-town-everyone-knows-everyone setting felt realistic but mystical at the same time. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat literally until the last word. The ending was UNBELIEVABLE! I hope to read more from Ashley in the future.gap0802
