A wonderful book allowing the readers to have fun while teaching young children to follow directions. I purchased this book from a school book fair one year not realizing how much enjoyment my family would have reading this book. I have never seen my grand children laugh so hard as we sat around the table and enjoyed following the directions inside this book. I think it was because of the size, the illustration, the die cut windows and the sound you make when you read it. This is suited to an older reader as it takes a lot of care to look after this book. Although it is a cute book, it's not very well written. It's also difficult to "hold". The outer cover slips off, and the hard cover is essentially blank (making it an unknown book of that cover comes off). The second to last page, being a double fold out is an odd place to have this. I bought this book to give to my daughter for her high school graduation. As a teacher I've signed several books for parents who plan to get the child's teacher each year to write a little note in it then present it to them when they graduate high school. There's no question that this children's classic is beautifully written, so I'll talk about our experience with and appreciation for it. We allowed our 2 1/2 yr old Great-granddaughter to open the mailing package and the box holding the book and bunny. Both are a perfect size for her little hands. The hardboard book is going to hold up through countless reads, and the bunny fits right in the curve of her neck as we cuddle and read. This child rarely sits still and has a difficult time calming down to fall asleep, but the first time she climbed up in my lap to read Goodnight Moon, she was captivated by the calming words and pictures. When we reached the end, she said, "Do it again." Gladly! Half way through our second reading, her breathing was deep and regular….she was asleep! Goodnight Moon is a peaceful little story that takes place in "the great green room," which is filled with lovely details for young minds to enjoy seeing over and over. This one and the night time one are both wonderful books! I got my 2 year old daughter the night time one when it was $8 at Barnes and noble for their monthly special kids book. Normally these are $18 each and eBay had great prices. I got her the day time one she opened it today and absolutely loved it and was excited. What you’d think would be inside generally isn’t, quite disappointed for the money spent, wish I’d have just bought a 100 word picture book or something instead for a fraction of the price.
