Reviews:
AMAZING BUY! i love it, this book had me so engrossed, i couldnt stop reading it! Lovely story line with so many unexpected turns. Also has a movie whuch i watched afterwards and i really enjoyed that too. The best book i have ever layed my eyes on. About a youbg girl who is chronically sick and allergic to everything, has to stay in her hone forever. But what will she do when the new boy accross the road grasps her love? Will she risk her life for a stranger? Read ut to fibd out…liv.b
Okay first I have to say that I love love love the cover and all the illustrations throughout the story! In my opinions it made this 10 times better. I think that the drawings really added to the story. Nicola Yoon created characters that practically burst from the pages. You can seriously see their personalities just jumping from the page. I loved the interaction between all of the characters as well. Maddy and Olly's email conversations are just the best! I also loved the interactions between Maddy and her nurse Carla. I just really enjoy when an author makes the characters so real. Everything, Everything is a story that is so unique. I've never seen anything like it. I loved getting to know about Maddy's disease. It's such a refreshing and interesting story to get to learn about. One of my favorite things is the fact that Maddy is actually half African American half Japanese. I love getting to see diverse characters in novels. While I did really enjoy Everything, Everything there were some things that did bother me. I thought it was rather unrealistic that a young teenager could get a credit card for one. For two, how many people would just book a flight and go to Hawaii with someone they don't know very well? In my opinion it wasn't really realistic for Maddy to be locked up for so long with just her mothers diagnosis. Another thing that really bothered me was Olly's dad. I'm sorry but if I was in a position like Maddy was I would have called the cops or done something. I sort of expected the ending to go the way it did but it didn't stop me from wishing there was more to the story. I wanted to know about her life after. All in all I did really enjoy Everything, Everything and I would recommend it to someone looking for a cute Summer read.Jordan @TBB
I would rate this book 10/10. I loved this book. It helps you understand a different lifestyle that someone could live and makes you feel more grateful for what you have. The main character in this story, Madeline, has a rare disease where she can’t leave her house ever because her body can’t fight off infections and will die if she goes outside. She has a nurse that comes to check on her everyday and she only has a mom. Her mom and her nurse are the only people she has ever seen basically her whole life. A new boy moves in next door and she starts talking to him through the window and also starts emailing and texting him. I really loved following along with this story because you feel so bad for this girl and you can feel her happiness when she develops a friendship with Olly, the boy next door. I would highly recommend this book because the author made the story so captivating and you want to read more and more. I felt so connected to this story and it really changed my perspective on life.caroline

Reviews:
This is such a great read and I wanted a copy for my granddaughter to read. This was a hard copy in fabulous condition and was really cheap. I was so pleased to find it. It arrived more quickly than I expected and I was pleased in every way.brothersue2012
I originally read Stargirl for a high school and junior high school event that encompasses many area schools at our local college. I loved the character of Stargirl and all that she stands for. Her freedom to really be herself and enjoy her uniqueness is a message we can all learn from. Most of my students enjoyed it and were able to relate, on some level, to the main character or to Leo, her boyfriend. Leo continues to struggle with how much he enjoys Stargirl's differences but also wants her to lose those differences and conform to the world around them. This book has a low enough reading level that it should be accessible to most middle school and high school students.patricia1983
There is nothing in this book that I do not love with a passion. Please read it and enjoy Spinelli's amazing character development, symbolism and flare for telling a story that people want to finish. I read this back in 5th grade; I read this in 11th grade; I read this in college. I gave this book to an awesome female friend of mine whom I told reminded me of Stargirl and she loved it. I cannot honestly think of a better-written YA fiction novel out there.jonathandalstad

Reviews:
One of the best books I’ve read all year. If you loved Caraval, I dare say you’ll love this one more. I thought Caraval was a solid 4 star trilogy, but this book is starting off strong with 5 stars. A very likable, and level-headed MC (Evangeline Fox), stars opposite of the chaotic and unpredictable Jacks. They make a very interesting duo, and I’m very sad I have to wait for the next book.Karly
Was told I could read this book without having to read her other books as it's a separate series. But after finishing it, it's clear you should definitely read the other books if you dont wanna be confused. Even tho it's a separate series it still has needed information in it and is the same world.Brooklyn
Once Upon a Broken heart is set in the same universe as Stephanie Garbers Caraval series. They can be read separately however reading Once Upon a broken heart OUABH first will spoil small bits of Caraval. I loved this book, Garber is great at world building and writing believable characters. After reading so many Fae based books, delving into a world of Fates where magic is used in a different way to most other books, I found it very refreshing. Once Upon a Broken heart is one of my new favourite books, and I intend on re-reading it prior to the release of its sequel, Ballard Of Never After later this year. Garber has mastered the art of the unexpected plot twists and I just can't get enough!Bookishlybella

Reviews:
Liz Braswell is back with another imaginative Disney retelling of Tangled. What if Rapunzel's mother was healed by the moondrop flower instead of the sundrop flower? Liz Braswell is content to make her readers cry from the first page to the very end. As this story is narrated by a brother trying to refresh Rapunzel's story for his sister during her chemo treatment. A brother with an impressive vocabulary, and attention to detail. There are not many ways to improve the original story line, even Daniella insists that certain aspects of the story remain the same. Except this time Rapunzel is cursed with a deadly ability. The fact that her family chooses her miserable childhood this time, makes this a significantly darker tale. This is a slow-paced book, with a sad undertone, and an imaginative but jumbled plot. Mother Gothel is just as prominent in this story, and doubly wicked since she no longer has to rely on Rapunzel for her youth. More villains become involved, making Rapunzel's dream to see the lanterns even more dangerous. Rapunzel's disposition is unchanged in this book as she is cheerful, kind, curious, and ignorant about almost everything in the world. It certainly highlights her loneliness, and how confining her life has been in the tower. A new character Gina helps give her a friend's perspective, though she often seesaws between pitying Rapunzel and competing with Flynn. Awkwardly leaving Rapunzel as a bit of a third wheel. Flynn is his usual bantering and charming self, if not a little more reluctant to help. The changes to Maximus and Pascal are a bit disappointing, taking a lot of humor out in the process. This retelling does delve deeper into the problematic issues of the Tangled world. Rapunzel comes to many realizations about the traumatic experiences in her life, the social problems her friends face, and the meaning of forgiveness. Most of which she has to learn on her own, even learning about her magic hair alone. Liz Braswell'sVictoria G

Reviews:
Wonderfully written story of the unsuspecting young girls lives cut very short. A sad time in science and industry. A real lack of communications and better judgement. A tale of innocence and product demand and profits all mix resulting in horrible deaths. So many young girls just starting to grow up and get married and start their families unsuspecting anything wrong with their new jobs. These jobs paid very well and gave the young women artist status working in a studio. Where else could they have it so well in a very bleak society in the early 20th century. You will find it very haunting. A story that needs to be told.astropilotman
I heard rumours about these girls, but to read the story about it, it's heartbreaking, can't believe it's a true story, the horrendous pain they had suffered, (no pain killers in those days) is unbelievable. It brought tears to my eyes. The poor families…pendle1sharonclaire
Well researched and writtten. Reads like a novel while including factual information. This book should be included in high shools to teach future business leaders what not to do in business. Such an eye opener and I though 'big tobacco' was corrupt. Still relevant today for big mining & energy companies as a reminder to retain a moral compassLori

Reviews:
This book is about two best friends, but when one of them gets pregnant their lives turn upside down. A challenge like this is a true test to thier friendship.juicyq
Love this book so much! I read it twice in one day when I first got it! People have got to read this amazing book! 🙂Rita1025
Mallory Herman I would definitely recommend every teen girl read this book. The characters in this book are very realistic, real, and easy to relate to. The main characters in this story are Scarlett, Halley, and Macon. In the beginning of the story Scarlett’s boyfriend died and her best friend Halley had to comfort her. Shortly after Halley starts dating a strange boy named Macon and is very happy, until her Scarlett tells her that she is pregnant with her dead boyfriend’s baby. Their lives slowly become overtaken with ultrasound appointments, cravings, and supporting each other during this time of need. Macon turns really wanting more out of the relationship than Halley and tries forcing her to take the next step with him. Halley becomes very indecisive about the situation and Scarlett tries talking her through the situation and help her make the right decision. The end of the book ends with tragedy for Halley and the birth of Scarlett’s baby whom she names after her best friend. The characters in this book were very credible and fun to read about and follow the drama surrounding them. I really enjoyed this book because of the importance it puts on the importance of a best friend. It puts things into perspective about how great it is to have a friend along by your side during life’s great struggles. My favorite part of the book was when Scarlett has her baby and names if after her best friend, Halley. I think this was very sweet and made my heart happy and shows the importance of a great friendship. My least favorite part of the story was when Halley started dating Macon and going to parties with him. I did not like this part of the story because it keeps you very on edge about if she is doing the right thing or not. I also do not think it was very realistic for a very good girl to start dating a guy like Macon and immediately change her life to accommodate a bad boy like him. Overall, I did love this book and would rate it a 5-star story. I would recommend this to any girl between the ages of 13 to 18. It would keep any girl that age interested and wanting to read more. I know it kept me very interested and entertained!mal

Reviews:
Francine has done a phenomenal job in translating the book of Hosea in the era of the Gold Rush. This story is about redemption of a young woman who had little choices in life. The first edition of this story I think was the best. Other editions had changes that I felt left a more vanilla view. I would recommend this book as a good read for anyone but especially for those who want to understand more deeply the scriptures. I went straight to the book of Hosea and read the whole thing with different eyes!hooverjax
Redeeming Love is one of those rare books that, while relating the main characters' stories, also tells our own. Angel is a young woman brutalized by many and dismissed by the rest as a lost cause, but when Michael Hosea enters the picture, Angel is given the opportunity to change the future that she believed to be set in stone. Though beginning to love an entirely different kind of life, the past confronts Angel through Michael's embittered brother-in-law and her own unnerving suspicion that she will be found unworthy in the end. In a desperate move to remember who she was before she was given the name 'Angel,' she returns to the confines of the city, only to stumble upon a freedom and sense of purpose she never believed she could find. Unaffected and honest, Francine Rivers weaves a story of unconditional love at its finest, pulling readers in and convincing them, page by page, that it cannot be set aside.Alexandria M
Purchased this book many years ago in a Christian book store near Hilton Head while vacationing there. The sales agent said: If you love Christian fiction books, I promise you this one is one you will always remember…… I purchased it and could not put it down or get away from its message! Does God really Love someone like Michael loved Angel even when she is unfaithful time and again..? I could go on but the book of Hosea in the Bible will never be the same to me again after reading Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers… Highly recommend this book-I purchase it for gifts now….1964ski

14. Normal People: A Novel [Book]

Product Details:
Now an emmy-nominated hulu original series – new york times bestseller – “a stunning novel about the transformative power of relationships” (people) from the author of conversations with friends, “a master of the literary page-turner” (j. courtney sullivan). one of the ten best novels of the decade—entertainment weekly – ten best books of the year—people, slate, the new york public library, harvard crimson – and best books of the year—the new york times, the new york times book review, o: the oprah magazine, time, npr, the washington post, vogue, esquire, glamour, elle, marie claire, vox, the paris review, good housekeeping, town & country connell and marianne grew up in the same small town, but the similarities end there. at school, connell is popular and well liked, while marianne is a loner. but when the two strike up a conversation—awkward but electrifying—something life changing begins. – a year later, they’re both studying at trinity college in dublin. marianne has found her feet in a new social world while connell hangs at the sidelines, shy and uncertain. throughout their years at university, marianne and connell circle one another, straying toward other people and possibilities but always magnetically, irresistibly drawn back together. and as she veers into self-destruction and he begins to search for meaning elsewhere, each must confront how far they are willing to go to save the other. – normal people is the story of mutual fascination, friendship and love. it takes us from that first conversation to the years beyond, in the company of two people who try to stay apart but find that they can’t. praise for normal people “[a] novel that demands to be read compulsively, in one sitting.”—the washington post “arguably the buzziest novel of the season, sally rooney’s elegant sophomore effort . . . is a worthy successor to conversations with friends. here, again, she unflinchingly explores class dynamics and young love with wit and nuance.”—the wall street journal “[rooney] has been hailed as the first great millennial novelist for her stories of love and late capitalism. . . . [she writes] some of the best dialogue i’ve read.”—the new yorker
Reviews:
There's a first-rate book buried inside Sally Rooney's "Normal People" . . . but the novel is too loose-limbed and (often) implausible for its own good. Many characters are either very"good" or very"bad" WITH CAPITAL LETTERS (the two main protagonists' respective mothers, in particular . . . more types than believable people). Others are dropped onto the page . . . and disappear. Conversations between characters are often used to move the plot forward . . . but the exchanges themselves appear to come out of nowhere and don't seem to be something the speaker in question would actually say. It's also hard to believe that the man and woman around which the plot revolves are at the top of their class at Trinity College (on full scholarships, no less!): no one so much as cracks a book or spends any discernible time studying. Neither of them is particularly articulate . . . and the male character's conversations rarely progress beyond an oft-used (and muttered) "Yeah." It is clear that Rooney's interest is not with the "finer" points of novel writing (too often one has to suspend disbelief here; the above criticisms can be applied to Rooney's first novel, "Conversations With Friends"). That said, the on-again/off-again relationship of the central male and female characters is beautifully done (quite gripping, really) . . . and it is for THAT reason that the book is worth reading.Try to read past the book's flaws; it's worth the effort. (And the ending is perfect [no spoilers here!].)artandmusic22
It's hard to imagine I'd need to recommend this book to anyone who has already read Sally's first novel, Conversations with Friends. Her ability to capture the deeply intimate thoughts and motivations of her characters with an economy of language is masterful. As a consequence ones familiarity with the characters grows almost exponentially as you begin reading – although with a shock she reminds you almost at any time that really – just as in real life – you don't really know other people. They can do the most unexpected and 'out of character' things. And it's not because they're fictional, it's because people, the people you meet in the street, your sister, your lover – whoever – are – in spite of the intimacies you may share are actually totally separate people with their own histories, characters, thoughts and desires that can be so foreign to your own as to be utterly unfathomable. People, in spite of their pretensions, are frail, needy, rarely self-contained. Such things are never more obvious than in the relationships we dare to pursue with other people. I fear that this author may be underestimated in her own time. I sincerely hope not.Rach the Reader
I picked up this book after a slew of friends and all of Instagram has recommended me this book! I was so excited to get into it, because this book seemed to have such a dedicated following. But as I worked my way through this book, I found myself completely disappointed. This book never arrives to that "aha!" moment. It drags on in a dizzying spell of break up and make up sex, petty jealousy, and never arrives anywhere. It has a few redemptive qualities, such as character development and the way of staying true to Irish culture. But at the end of the book, I thought to myself – "well that was a waste of time." If you want to read an incredibly blah book, here it is.Hannah

Reviews:
I read this as a library book a while back and loved it 's believable characters and evocative story telling. It's not the usual run of the mill love story. There are certain books that I know I will read again and again and this is one of them.dudleywa86
An excellent depiction of life in rural Kentucky during the Great Depression. Brave women ride horses to deliver books to those who need them most and have the least access. Lots of small town drama and deepening of friendships between the women. Romance and intrigue too. You will be grateful you are a woman in this century.LORI
This book keeps you engaged from the first line. Wonderful story about strong, courageous women who bonded together, despite differences and difficult times. I laughed and cried several times during the story. This is one book you won't want to end. Loved it!Felisha

My mother is 1/3 of the way through the book and has already found 3 places where the print is goofed up. Multiple lines are printed on top of each other which makes it difficult/impossible to read them. I purchase Large Print Books for her because of her poor vision and did not expect her to find so many misprints. She's enjoying the book but I don't like the poor quality print.Sandy from Sammamish
Great book! Couldn't put it down. Entertaining and informative story of female cryptographers in WWII EnglandJennie
This well written fictional book portrays the code breakers in a fair light now that it can be openly discussed. There were many code breaker groups and most seemed to experience similar settings to what is portrayed in this book.iris1230_8

This book was great. I generally can't stand zombie fiction but I got really into this and finished it in 2 days (i couldn't put it down). It was suspenseful but more importantly, the character development was outstanding. The story was actually believable and takes place 20 years after the "outbreak" originally happened. I would have never guessed the ending. Definitely recommend checking it out!!lindsay.t
This book was amazing. It stayed with me long after I finished reading it. Whenever someone asks me to recommend a book, this is the first book I think of. This purchase was actually my second copy, thats how much I loved it. Looking forward to reading more by this author! There was a movie made, I havent seen it yet. I would highly recommend not seeing the movie until reading the book.ERIN
I saw the movie a while back. Book is much better at conveying the horror of this situation. Great post apocalyptic novel. I received the book on time & in excellent condition. I highly recommend it.yovacla-0
