Maya Angelo is a wonderful poet. This is a great collection to haveteacherphyl
Always have loved her work but never owned it, glad I have it nowStephanie
Such beautiful, touching poetry!! This is a keeper and will forever be a part of my poetry collection. The way she expresses herself is so emotional, sometimes raw, sometimes tender. I don't think there is a woman on this planet that wouldn't be able to relate to several of these poems.ben_vbe_pjdrqez
2. Love Her Wild: Poems [Book]

Product Details:
The first collection of poetry by the new york times bestselling author of the dark between stars.love her wild is a collection of new and beloved poems from atticus, the young writer who has captured the hearts and minds of hundreds of thousands of avid followers on his instagram account @atticuspoetry, including superstars like karlie kloss and shay mitchell. he was dubbed the “#1 poet to follow” by teen vogue and “the world’s most tattoo-able” poet by galore magazine, in love her wild, atticus captures what is both raw and relatable about the smallest and the grandest moments in life: the first glimpse of a new love in paris; skinny dipping on a summer’s night; the irrepressible exuberance of the female spirit; or drinking whiskey in the desert watching the rising sun. with honesty, poignancy, and romantic flair, atticus distills the most exhilarating highs and the heartbreaking lows of life and love into a few perfectly evocative lines, ensuring that his words will become etched in your mind—and will awaken your sense of adventure.
Reviews:
Great for a daily dose of reminders. Don't take your partner for granted. Love, and do it with all your heart. This collection also inspired my 17 year old brother to read. He hates reading, but loved these works. They were short, inspirational, and true words that played with the strings of the heart. While the poems are short, they contain weighted lines that stay in one's mind.ANDRES
bought this book for my daughter, she LOVES these poems. 5 Star and i recommend this book!dolly158s
Pros: Plenty of poems to enjoy in the three different "chapters": Love, Her, and Wild // Beautiful black-and-white images in a softbound edition-would make a great gift or coffee table book // Atticus certainly has a way with words and some of the poems are touching Cons: Much of the content is quite teen-angsty and melodramatic, attempting to be ~deep~ through simple, unstructured verse Verdict: As Atticus's first print poetry compilation, Love Her Wild speaks to his success as an Internet-famous writer who has touched the hearts of young-and-in-love budding romantics, especially among adolescent audiences. The minimalistic style and tender words of this syrupy volume make it pleasant to read, aesthetically appealing, and highly quotable, especially through visual mediums (e.g. Instagram posts). I would not be surprised to see excerpts of Love Her Wild widely quoted in the mainstream. Rating: 7 out of 10 hearts (3.5 stars): Not perfect, but overall enjoyable; would recommend, but borrow a copy before you buy! 3. The Selected Poems Of Emily Dickinson [Book]

Product Details:
Explore the essence of life, love, nature, and time in exquisite verse with this elegantly designed edition of emily dickinson’s finest poems. born in 1830 in amherst, massachusetts, to a prominent new england family and educated at amherst academy and mt. holyoke female seminary, emily elizabeth dickinson lived most of her life in seclusion, devoted to writing. she scarcely left home, nor did she have many visitors. only ten of her poems were published in her lifetime, submitted without her permission by friends. it was only after her death in 1886 that the scope of her work as a poet came to light—over 1,700 poems were discovered in a dresser drawer by her sister, lavinia. emily dickinson’s poems reflect her loneliness, as well as her love of nature, the influence of the metaphysical poets of seventeenth century england, and her strong puritan religious beliefs. yet, it is her use of language, form, and the deceptive simplicity of her verse that categorize her as an important force in nineteenth century american letters and, along with walt whitman, a founder of a distinctly american voice in modern poetry. prelude this is my letter to the world, that never wrote to me,— that simple news that nature told, with tender majesty. her message is committed to hands i cannot see; for love of her, sweet countrymen, judge tenderly of me! the timeless classics series from rock point brings together the works of classic authors from around the world. complete and unabridged, these elegantly designed gift editions feature luxe, patterned endpapers, ribbon markers, and foil and deboss details on vibrantly colored cases. celebrate these beloved works of literature as true standouts in your personal library collection.

Incredible collection of poetry.chasm4866
This has been my favourite book of poetry for a long while. I use friend's birthdays as an excuse to buy them a copy and am often surprised by how much people who would never normally read poetry love Raymond Carver's poetry. The poems are the perfect accompaniment to his stories, similarly simple, clear and sad.

6. The Collected Poems Of Langston Hughes [Book]

Product Details:
"the ultimate book for both the dabbler and serious scholar–. hughes] is sumptuous and sharp, playful and sparse, grounded in an earthy music–. this book is a glorious revelation."–boston globe spanning five decades and comprising 868 poems (nearly 300 of which have never before appeared in book form), this magnificent volume is the definitive sampling of a writer who has been called the poet laureate of african america–and perhaps our greatest popular poet since walt whitman. here, for the first time, are all the poems that langston hughes published during his lifetime, arranged in the general order in which he wrote them and annotated by arnold rampersad and david roessel. alongside such famous works as "the negro speaks of rivers" and montage of a dream deferred, the collected poems includes the author's lesser-known verse for children; topical poems distributed through the associated negro press; and poems such as "goodbye christ" that were once suppressed. lyrical and pungent, passionate and polemical, the result is a treasure of a book, the essential collection of a poet whose words have entered our common language.
Reviews:
"I was a victim of a stereotype. There were only two of us Negro kids in the whole class and our English teacher was always stressing the importance of rhythm in poetry. Well, everyone knows, except us, that all Negroes have rhythm, so they elected me as class poet." Excellent!!!krenty
The work of Langston Hughes is sublime. I have studied Walt Whitman and Robert Frost and they are great. I have read and studied the work of many other poets as creative writing is an important part of my life. Langston Hughes work is the work that I really connect with completely. It is heart to heart. I feel he is the greatest American poet. This book is fabulous. I will look for it in hard-back but am thrilled to have it at all.mamiller517

13. The Complete Poems Of Sappho [Book]

Product Details:
A vivid, contemporary translation of the greatest greek love poet—with a wealth of materials for understanding her work—by a prize-winning poet and translator sappho’s thrilling lyric verse has been unremittingly popular for more than 2,600 years—certainly a record for poetry of any kind—and love for her art only increases as time goes on. though her extant work consists only of a collection of fragments and a handful of complete poems, her mystique endures to be discovered anew by each generation, and to inspire new efforts at bringing the spirit of her greek words faithfully into english. in the past, translators have taken two basic approaches to sappho: either very literally translating only the words in the fragments, or taking the liberty of reconstructing the missing parts. willis barnstone has taken a middle course, in which he remains faithful to the words of the fragments, only very judiciously filling in a word or phrase in cases where the meaning is obvious. this edition includes extensive notes and a special section of “testimonia”: appreciations of sappho in the words of ancient writers from plato to plutarch. also included are a glossary of all the figures mentioned in the poems, and suggestions for further reading.

The poems in this book are from another dimension from the Islam we know and hear about so often in todays media. Reviews:
There is no greater display of unkindness, which is a form of stupidity, in literature than to use one''s God given gift for writing than to attack another. Yet this author has felt inclined to do so with this book. It deserves to be on the shelf next to Mein Kamf and other books of madness. Please read this if you are seeking to increase and justify the hatred within you towards another being. If not, skip it. There are beautifully written inspired tracts that nourish and caress the soul for those seeking kindness, goodness and the inspiration of true poetry. This one is just more hate from those and for those who are drawn to wallow in it.
