This book and "Boxing's Ten Commandments" are the best books you can have buy on boxing. The only knock on "Boxing Mastery" is all the techniques are from the southpaw side. A beginner may have some difficulty with that but those with prior training and experience will have no problem with it. The defensive tactics and techniques are very good. It really brings out the importance of defense in boxing. People watching it on the screen don't see the chess game boxing becomes. I trained fighters for ten years and had some golden glove champions and couldn't write a better book myself. I highly recommend this book. More so for a boxer that has the basics down pat but even a beginner can grasp it if he follows it closely.pitts122354
A new rule should be made, if Mark Hatmaker is involved in a project its probably going to be good. This book on the finer points of boxing is very very good. The strategies presented are highly effective (I loved the one for fighting southpaws) and the discourse on hooking punches is also particularily good. Highly recommended.

This book is a true classic. He's not joking when he writes that doing the "left jolt" on a punching bag inside your house will loosen the plaster on your ceiling. My punching power has increased beyond my dreams by following Dempsey's methods. It's also a great and very inviting read. I would have liked a bit more on even just one boxer but the author did give his own training routine and some good tips. The pictures were pretty good in the book. A quick read.
