1. The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art Of Decluttering And Organizing [Book]
Product Details:
A new york times bestseller, this guide to home organization is refreshingly simple to follow and reassuringly effective. author and japanese cleaning consultant marie kondo takes you step by step through her konmari method of tackling clutter by categories, leading to lasting results. with detailed guidance for determining which items in your house "spark joy" (and which don't), this little book will help you discover the unique magic of a tidy home-and the calm, motivated mindset it can inspire.
Reviews:
I discussed this book years ago with a friend of mine when she purchased it as a new release. She told me how it would change everything, but at the time, I didn't really think I needed it. I've always had a bit of a minimalist attitude, make trips to donate unused items and gifts, spend for need (not wants) mostly, and am fairly organized. After watching the author on her most recent Netflix show, however, my interest was piqued. I read this book in one sitting and found her stories of how she became a consultant delightful. Inspired, I immediately went to work, implementing her suggestions, and honestly can't believe the difference. Tidying up has allowed me to re-organize my house into a space that I now actually like. Furthermore, it's re-organized my way of thinking. I would recommend this read to anyone. So many take-aways!SummerGal
The Writing: It's quite funny, I knowI evaluate books writing quite harshly, yet my own is not up to par as of this moment. For the most part, manga should be critique differently than novels in my opinion. Why? 90% of manga that I have chosen to read has always been good and has always captured my attention. Does it seem bias? I think so since I haven't picked up any that I don't like. I don't think there was a manga that I decided that I was going to read and not finished. I must say, this was not an exception to that. As like most comics, it was captivating, it was intriguing, it was everything a manga is and should be. It may not be to some, but manga I also noticed that I laugh out loud a lot to every manga that I have read. It has some human that I fairly enjoy. Side note: I was extremely excited when I saw this came out! I haven't read manga in so long and was please to stumble upon a mange over 6 years later! The Message: Tidying !!! In the best, light hearted way. It does give me inspiration as the rest of her other books. It makes me think every time I see an untidy corner or spot in my house. The message is clear and concise. The character has flaws that I have that I can relate to. The protagonist also have qualities that I quite admire. The Story: How did an author include a love story in tidying is beyond me! I still love and it want to continue more to see if there is chemistry between them! The Pictures: It's so cute! Who can't just start and want to see more? Read more I mean… 🙂 RATING: 10/10cathy
Over the past 3 years my husband and I have sold one house and moved and are now in process of moving again. During this time I have done quite a bit of decluttering and de-owning. Yet as we prepare to move again I wondered if I could do more so I read Marie Kondo's book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. This is a great little book to read and learn from as you seek to declutter and organize your home or apartment. I like that the book is small so I took it back and forth the past 2 weeks as we are in transition to move. It easily fit in my purse to pull out and read whenever I had a few minutes to spare. Marie Kondo runs an acclaimed consulting business in Tokyo helping clients transform their cluttered homes into spaces of serenity and inspiration. With a three-month waiting list her KonMari Method of decluttering and organizing has become an international phenomenon. In the life-changing magic of tidying up she shares her experiences what led her to create this current method of decluttering homes and how you can apply this method to your house. I found this book to be interesting and helpful. I did already have a head start on decluttering so some of what she shared I had already done. She says that people have items spread out through the house like shirts etc. and asks that they gather all like items together. Maybe I am strange as I had already done this. At the same time I learned several other things from her technique that proved helpful to me. I can see when we complete our move that I could use this method and make the new house decluttered and keep it that way. She does share some things that sound uniquely Japanese but it is easy to take what works for our western homes and apply it. I would recommend the book to anyone wanting to declutter and keep a tidy home. I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review. I was not required toMonica H

Reviews:
I am so grateful that you have this book since I was able to get their new book as a gift. I wanted to read from the first book before continue to the second but either way how you choose from this book or the next…this is so simple and helpful as I strive to be more organized at home. Thank you.PVrba
The version of this book that has the black Netflix circle on the cover (which is the version being shipped out as of the time of this review) does not come with labels like the original version did. The back cover still says there are labels but they are not included and therefore a bit awkward for a gift, etc.L
Great book with helpful suggestions for organizing anything and everything! We're big fans of Joanna and Clea and I was very excited to find this book available from Target. The included labels are a nice touch (which are absolutely included and found at the back of the book), and we already used several inside our fridge!FlyAsAMother

Ok I read this title wrong….blame small phone screen. Not going to repeat my review, if you want to read it go to The Life Changing Manga of Tidying… Basically…read and change your life! You need to read Joy after reading thisNatalie
An easy read and well thought out and translated into English. Marie's thoughts are arrived at – and explained = after many 'soul searchings' from her childhood. It is a spiritual book and is inspiring. Things that don;t 'spark joy' are thanked and parted with. There is an honouring for all things that have been part of one's life. It doesn't feel that things are being ripped away but are part of a life process of growth and serenity. It is working for me! I don't feel that I am being made 'to jump to it soldier' but rather it is inner work with an outer sign becoming apparent.pixiepete2013
This book is absolutely amazing! It gives such simple, much-needed amd compelling arguments and explanations for clearing away clutter and being peaceful with oneself. It psychologically is great for the self esteem and demonstrates that tidying in this manner is a form of mindfulness. Absolutely beautiful.wick086

Reviews:
No, this review is not part of a promotion. I don't know Dana or the publishers or suppliers, I'm just a person. Make Sense of it so you can have some lasting Success. If you struggle with clutter, or just want an easier way to keep things tidy without feeling like you constantly chase those catch pile area, This is a good tool for your arsenal. I have her first 2 books and love them for quick reference and brainstorming ideas. No disappointment adding this one to the collection. In the process of decluttering, Dana gives loads of tips to make it quick, easy, and no additional mess in the process. In the process of this, following Dana's tips, you learn to narrow down the source of the problem. No, it's not the people, not the person, it's the habits and behavior. Following Dana's easy, and believe it or not, Fun tips, you will be actively on your way to developing good habits, leaving the old ones behind, and make progress on getting your clutter underway. What "how-to" is really successful for you if you don't know the root causes. Could be the way your brain works when you're not thinking at the moment. Could be learned behavior. Dana is not a therapist or a counselor, she's a a Mom, wife, everyday person who thinks in a different way than the average person, and her sense of humor is what makes it fun along the way. Mundane chores are rarely a pleasure, for most folks, Dana has a way to turn the ordinary mundane tasks we dread, into extraordinary success and fun. You can't change the habits of others, but you can be a teacher by example, get rid of the arguments, upsetting moments, and all the extra unnecessary, frustrating and even aggravating task of cleaning up after others through teaching by example. I found Dana on YouTube, then found her blog by searching for her website. She's awesome, she's different, she's fun, Dana I love how your brain works!! She started with challenging herself with accountability and now she has a huge following. It's BeCause she's Not like everyone Else out there. Nor am I, so I can relate. Thanks Dana !!!! – Love ya, MegMeg
Great quick read and flip through book. There are bite size, digestible, and real life doable tips and suggestion. I love Dana’s previous two books and love this book and will likely buy more as gifts because this book is totally giftable.LilC
If you've read "How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind," and you watch Dana's YouTube channel, this is not new content. It is simplified for newcomers or those that don't want to buy the aforementioned book, but really, just watch her YT channel and you'll save yourself needed funds. I really don't like the section on folding laundry directly from the dryer. The minutes it takes to accomplish this are minutes that could be spent saving gas or electricity keeping the dryer hot. I pull my laundry out (neatly, not in crumples) and throw in the items from the washer so the dryer never has to work to heat back up. I know Dana thinks the minutes spent folding directly are too small to matter, but not everyone has a new appliance, and even those of us that do might want to get out of our cold laundry area and fold while watching her YouTube channel instead.M S in GA

Great simple ideas. Highly recommended this productSarah
This is a handy reference book for ways you can organise your home without relying on plastic or making it look too clinical. Some of the stuff is a bit repetitive and although they're really good at listing where you can buy the items pictured a lot of it is from stores in the US so not practical to buy the items but nonetheless this is a great source of inspiration and this book challenges the reader to repurpose items rather than throw items away.Ana

Reviews:
I did enjoy this book. However, once I understood the principles, I found some of the content a little repetitive. I am sure others will love it for exactly that reason. It's clear and easy to understand. If you take action you will definitely reduce the clutter in your home. Essentially we need to ask ourselves, "Do we love it? Do we use it? Would we buy it again? Not difficult questions to answer. The objective is clear, we declutter so we can experience more peace at home, and I love that! I aspire to being content with fewer things and having a closer relationship with God. So thought resonated as well. Definitely worth a read. My thanks to Netgalley, Harvest House Publishers and the author for my Advance Reader Copy in exchange for my honest review.Karren H

I love the way clearing out is presented in this book. She talks about the root causes of amassing stuff and also about multiple blocks or reasons that I struggle to let go of certain items. She gave me varying viewpoints on each of these issues, or blocks, which allow me to look at items in a different way and let go of more of them.LYDIA/ERIC
16. How To Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach To Cleaning And Organizing [Book]
Product Details:
If you're tired of staring at the same mess every day, but struggling to find the time and willpower to clean it, you probably have a very good reason: anxiety, fatigue, depression, adhd, or lack of support. designed by therapist kc davis, this revolutionary method of cleaning and organizing helps end the stress-mess cycle. after kc davis gave birth to her second child, she didn't fold a single piece of laundry for seven months. between postpartum depression and adhd, she felt numb and overwhelmed. she regained her sanity–and the functionality of her home–after one life-changing realization: you don't work for your home; your home works for you. in other words, messiness is not a moral failing. a new sense of calm washed over her as she let go of the shame-based messaging that interpreted a pile of dirty laundry as "i can never keep up" and a chaotic kitchen as "i'm a bad mother." instead, she looked at unwashed clothes and thought, "i am alive," and at stacks of dishes and thought, "i cooked my family dinner three nights in a row." building on this foundation of self-compassion, kc devised the powerful practical approach that has exploded in popularity through her tiktok account, @domesticblisters. the secret is to stop following perfectionist rules that don't make sense for you–like folding clothes that don't wrinkle anyway, or thinking that every room has to be clean at the same time–and to find creative solutions that accommodate your needs, pet peeves, daily rhythms, and attention span. inside, you'll learn exactly how to customize your approach and rebuild your relationship with your home, including: -how to stop seeing care tasks as a reflection of your worth, but rather as kindnesses to your future self -how to use calming rituals to keep you from feeling overwhelmed when you look at a big mess -how to stagger tasks that are easy to procrastinate throughout the week and month -how to quickly transform a room from messy to fully functional through the "5 things" tidying method, and other shortcuts requiring minimal energy read this book to make home feel like a sanctuary again: where you can move with ease, where guilt, self-criticism, and endless checklists have no place, and where you always have permission to rest, even when things aren't finished.
