I have read this book multiple times, it is life changing when it comes to how to communicate effectively with others, you can apply it to all walks of life not just business. I always recommend this book to others and I just bought it again as a gift to someone. Highly recommend.Natalie

Since reading this book, I feel like for the first time I have been given the basic instructions to approach obstacles in a positive way with a degree of confidence in a positive outcome. We have a child with Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and we have been in therapy for 8 years with multiple counselors and psychologists with little to no improvement. She is frequently against anything and everything that we try to teach her or help her with and has no reaction to any type of discipline. In her mind she is always right, always has all the answers and when something goes wrong she is always the faultless victim. I have frequently felt completely hopeless and overwhelmed, and I have thrown up my hands and said that I have run out of ideas and answers about what we could do to help her. Now that I have read this book I have had floods of ideas in how I could approach day-to-day issues without getting as upset or trying to correct her behavior, and I have found many faults in my previous methods which obviously were not working. I have just finished this book so I can't say that we have worked any miracles but I began applying these simple principles while still reading the book and we are already experiencing more pleasant behaviors and finding more enjoyment in our time together. I have already recommended this book to several friends and family members and I'm hoping that they read it and can benefit from it as I feel I have!torridtemptations

This book teaches people to be considerate of other peoples feelings. It teaches many other valuable things too though, such as how to interview well, things to say that make you more pleasant to be around, etc. It definitely gets you to think about how you could and should "do better". It has helped many people to transform from being socially awkward and defensive to someone that seems collected and confident.Honest Mom

If you're looking at a book that will inspire you to do the right thing by others and to be the best you can as a person then look no further, this is a remarkable book, well written and deserves to be read again and again so it totally sinks into the psyche. I had to purchase this book for an I/O Psych Class in college, and it had to be one of the most interesting required readings. The book is a very easy read about how businesses and people use influence tactics in everyday life. It gives interesting, modern and historical examples of how these influence tactics are used and have been used by people. After reading this book, I debated whether of not to recommend this book for others to read. Only for the sole purpose that, now (after reading about all the influence tactics) I have extensive knowledge about how to influence and manipulate people to my own advantage. However- not being selfish- I would highly recommend this book to anyone and especially anyone who works in a setting where they have to interact with people daily. I can't speak enough how Dale hits the heart of the subject and helps you win people over if you want it. That is the biggest key to any self-help topic on Gods green Earth is that you have to want it or it doesn't really matter. I bought the book several years ago and really liked it. At that time, I thought I should re-read it every couple of years. I came across the audiobook and it is wonderful to be reminded of so many ways to make life go more smoothly. Recent University of Wisconsin course on Leadership Development used this text as its main source material. It was very thorough and offered a current outlook on development of strategic leadership in business. Influencing management decisions, personal and team goals, assessing current trends in management and the eternal words of Warren Bennis were of particular interest. If you have been currently down-sized and find yourself in a non-management position, this has many helpful strategies and ways to influence, pull together as a cohesive team member even when under great stress and suffering from funding cuts. I saw this book in the NEW BOOKS section of our public library and got it because it had some reviewers I really respect. I found it particularly helpful in thinking through organisation strategies and philosophy, from a church organising perspective. I found it so useful I bought it ASAP.
