Reviews:
I was in a dark place with issues in dealing with not having emotions or if I did, not been able to express or cope with them. Life was not a joyful place and I felt lost, not being able see that life can be enjoyable. This book dealt with the authors experience in German concentration Camps, and how people dealt with it differently. Those who never gave up hope and imagined themselves going back to their home and life, survived. Those who couldn't see a future did not survive. I have read it numerous times and learn something new each time.Frogs
Most of the time when we learn about the Jews in death camps its all these the physical and brutal descriptions of the horrors, the wounds, the starvation, the endless piles of corpses, but this book takes a more psychological approach and explains how exactly the Nazis broke and dehumanized the Jews into complete nonentities, into something lesser than livestock. Fankl however on top of this gives one of the most life firming stories, its all about transforming suffering, and living life.Cougar
This book is life-changing, at the very least it's undoubtedly shifted my perspective on life and suffering. Dr Frankl writes about his time spent in concentration camps and his founding of logotherapy. Frequently quoting Nietzsche, especially "He who has a why to live for can bear with almost any how", Frankl goes on to suggest the need or search for meaning in our lives is of the most paramount importance, and a crucial part of maintaining good mental health. Frankly explains suffering is an inevitable part of our lives, and that regardless of the burden placed upon us, we all have the choice to accept our suffering or succumb to it. Whether we're being a role model for others who experience the same circumstances, or use our suffering as a means to improve ourselves in different aspects of our lives, we can all find a meaning in our suffering and through finding meaning we can overcome anything. There are quite a few concepts I learned about in this book such as paradoxical intention, the importance of meaning in our lives, as well as enduring and using our suffering for a greater good. I read this at a time when I really needed it, and this book has been a catalyst for positive change in my life.Dane

Reviews:
Faith building, encouraging life words, I am barely beginning to apply these lessons to living a life honorably and loving God with all my heart. God will keep me on track and by His Holy Spirit I will one day stand complete in His presence. A time consuming book, one to share with others!Rita H.
Rick Warren's book was for years simply a concept that I used by simply "ideizing" the title for "doing things on purpose" to meet a goal of good results. As I've gotten older, I have been becoming more of a Bible reader and a Church goer. Rick really delivers a multi-purpose toolkit with this excellent book. So far, I been using it as a daily reflections, a random study kit, and a source of inspirational ponder. (It's suggested as a "narrative through" as it were)diontheon21
I really enjoyed this book! I even had the study guide which was a nice touch. I am a reborn Christian and this gave me a lot of things to think about an craving to now look into. I never realized how important it is to have a great fellowship to be apart of and how important it is to have an amazing accountability partner. Rick Warren put his words out amazing that I didn't want to put this book down. What on Earth Am I Here For? Expanded Edition (The Purpose Driven Life)ashley .j
3. Meaning In Life And Why It Matters [Book]

A fresh reflection on what makes life meaningfulmost people, including philosophers, tend to classify human motives as falling into one of two categories: the egoistic or the altruistic, the self-interested or the moral. according to susan wolf, however, much of what motivates us does not comfortably fit into this scheme. wolf makes a compelling case that, along with happiness and morality, this kind of meaningfulness constitutes a distinctive dimension of a good life. written in a lively and engaging style, and full of provocative examples, meaning in life and why it matters is a profound and original reflection on a subject of permanent human concern.

Reviews:
I have just ordered two more copies, after only reading the intro.—and Prof. Peterson's numerous interviews simply expand my own heart. In this climate of high anxiety and appalling lack of compassion, echoed by Hugh MacKay in AUSTRALIA REIMAGINED. It is no wonder that he has an enthralled audience of millions, world- wide. My wish is that Prof. Peterson will produce a primer affirming our children and youth, to give them hope— for our learning young to master before they get to our Uni's. that have to do their own serious reflecting. In my opinion. AND to give our valiant teachers stronger morale and endurance—as so vividly depicted in Gabbie Stroud's TEACHER, also published last year. Finally, the more I devour of the Prof.'s 'Rules' the more I want to yell my rental's roof off , in agreement—our kids CAN be brought up in a far better world, if we follow Jordan's example of such raw courage and exemplary scholarship and teaching. I only wish that I could buy another 12 copies to share around !KCKLL
This is the third book I purchase as a gift. Jordan Peterson tells it as it is in how one should behave to be a functional human being in society. This is sadly supposed to be the role of parents but not many parents nurture their kids anymore by teaching them the basic life skills. I've seen so many young people can't keep their own room organised yet trying to solve the world's most complex problem. Let's keep it to basic – stand up straight, make yourself better than who you are yesterday and clean up your room before you try to solve any life's complex problem. You will be more content and happier in life and no longer feeling depressed all the time. Great for both men, women and anyone. I'm a woman who loves this book. This book has changed my life!!This book changes my life
An excellent book written with great depth and understanding about living a life. It is necessary to read at least twice to get a more complete picture of what Peterson is on about. Best of all this book made me think deeply about living a life and the ultimate ending of that life. Highly recommended but only to serious readers and certainly not for shallow thinking people.Bob

Fantastisk bok med många kloka tankar.Wilhelm
A very sad but compelling first hand view of an unfathomable event in history. How Viktor Frankl was able to relive these memories and put it all into words in order to finding meaning is admirable and inspiring.scarlet1017-81
Josephine T
9. Man's Search For Meaning [Book]

Product Details:
Psychiatrist viktor frankl's memoir has riveted generations of readers with its descriptions of life in nazi death camps and its lessons for spiritual survival. between 1942 and 1945 frankl labored in four different camps, including auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose. frankl's theory—known as logotherapy, from the greek word logos ("meaning")—holds that our primary drive in life is not pleasure, as freud maintained, but the discovery and pursuit of what we personally find meaningful.at the time of frankl's death in 1997, man's search for meaning had sold more than 10 million copies in twenty-four languages. a 1991 reader survey by the library of congress and the book-of-the-month club that asked readers to name a "book that made a difference in your life" found man's search for meaning among the ten most influential books in america. born in vienna in 1905 viktor e. frankl earned an m.d. and a ph.d. from the university of vienna. he published more than thirty books on theoretical and clinical psychology and served as a visiting professor and lecturer at harvard, stanford, and elsewhere. in 1977 a fellow survivor, joseph fabry, founded the viktor frankl institute of logotherapy. frankl died in 1997. harold s. kushner is rabbi emeritus at temple israel in natick, massachusetts, and the author of several best-selling books, including when bad things happen to good people.william j. winslade is a philosopher, lawyer, and psychoanalyst at the university of texas medical school in galveston.
Reviews:
This is a life-changing read. The first half of the book providing a first hand experience of the horror that was WWII Germany and the holocaust. The second half a beautiful, first hand discussion of finding true meaning and love, despite the tragedies of this world. A must read for anyone asking about the meaning of life.Clinton
This book was recommended hundreds of times by my graduate professors and I can definitely see why. Frankl talks about his experiences at a concentration camp and documented what was happening to him. How does a person consider living and continuing after having such horrific things happen to them? This book goes into detail about the psyche when someone is put under these circumstances.ALICIA
Absolute must read for anyone looking at life the same day in and day out. Gives a great different perspective to looking at life and helps the reader to look deeper into their life and themselves and find their true purpose or meaning to life.JB

11. The Meaning Of Human Existence [Book]

Product Details:
New york times bestseller finalist for the national book award (nonfiction) how did humanity originate and why does a species like ours exist on this planet? in the meaning of human existence, his most philosophical work to date, pulitzer prize–winning biologist edward o. wilson grapples with these and other existential questions, examining what makes human beings supremely different from all other species. searching for meaning in what nietzsche once called "the rainbow colors" around the outer edges of knowledge and imagination, wilson takes his readers on a journey, in the process bridging science and philosophy to create a twenty-first-century treatise on human existence—from our earliest inception to a provocative look at what the future of mankind portends. once criticized for a purely mechanistic view of human life and an overreliance on genetic predetermination, wilson presents in the meaning of human existence his most expansive and advanced theories on the sovereignty of human life, recognizing that, even though the human and the spider evolved similarly, the poet's sonnet is wholly different from the spider's web. whether attempting to explicate "the riddle of the human species," "free will," or "religion"; warning of "the collapse of biodiversity"; or even creating a plausible "portrait of e.t.," wilson does indeed believe that humanity holds a special position in the known universe. the human epoch that began in biological evolution and passed into pre-, then recorded, history is now more than ever before in our hands.

Reviews:
My church almost forked over $5000 for Warren's program. We were told to read his books and follow them. I found he keeps encouraging "change" and uses evangelical language but in reality prefers to ignore the scripture in favor of psychology. You won't hear about sin either. What he does do, is subtly shift the center from God to "you". He uses entertainment to draw the uncommitted into the church, thus diluting the others. His program fills churches, but, according to Bill Hybels (who should know), produces no disciples. By the way, Warren's book took off after being backed by Rupert Murdoch's (non-Christian) money, Warren is a member of the council of foreign relations, and he has no testimony. That's right – if you hear his story you won't find sin, repentance, or calvary referenced. It is said that to wreck a ship you only need to take it one degree off course and eventually it will strike a reef! Avoid his teachings – they have filled the churches.2003_ub313

Anyone who loves animals would be delighted by the pictures in this book. The pictures will make you feel all warm and some of the quotes make you think and smile. It's a book that will be loved even by people who are not really readers, as the text is minimal and the pictures are big and take up almost all of the pages. Enjoy!
The kind of little book you pick up anytime to have a smile and make your day better.Joy
This is a superb little story – with awesome photos – and a large as life message. I happened upon the book in a counselor's office and immediately knew that I had to get a copy for each of my two teenage children – and some of their best friends as well! While they laugh together at the photos, it's obvious from their ensuing conversations that they find the author's message both encouraging and liberating. Bravo, Mr. Greive, for your positive influence on today's youth!denisem1217

Product Details:
Discover the life you were born to live bestselling author dan millman's life-purpose system, a modern method of insight based on ancient wisdom, has helped hundreds of thousands of people find new meaning, purpose, and direction in their lives.
Reviews:
This book is the best numerology personality book I've read. The author says he found this system and found it to work, but he says he doesn't know why… I agree, it is spot on, don't know how, but it is a must have if you are into numerical aspects of personality. It is a simple system of adding up digits in your birthday, and has extensive definitions on each, very thought provoking!geaninamedana
I bought this book many years ago and lent it out and never got it back. I love this book and decided I wanted to get another copy but brand new ones are very rare and very expensive. The book was described as being in good condition and it was as described. WOB was a great alternative and I would definitely buy books from this website again.Ms J. H.
This book was recommended to me by a spiritual leader in my community. She said she had gotten it years ago and had been compelled to read it in one sitting. I got it from a friend and like the message so much I bought my own copy as reference. I highly recommend this book if you are curious about numerology and want some actionable guidelines on how to improve your life and find your purpose.dvspec1
