This book cuts to the chase of "how to de-clutter" without feeling deprived. She describes the effect of doing so and how that makes a smooth-running and "great to live in" house. . The chapters are short (quick to read if reading time is short, or a dose of motivation is needed!), and written with humor. It covers not just the rooms in the house but also the attic, basement, and garage. It gives ideas on how to keep the main part of the home tidy by getting the whole family into the idea of how to be neat. The idea of using what she calls "Modules" is right on. Definitely worth the purchase and read of this book!!!celeste387

3. Digital Minimalism: Choosing A Focused Life In A Noisy World [Book]
Product Details:
A new york times, wall street journal, publishers weekly, and usa today bestseller"newport is making a bid to be the marie kondo of technology: someone with an actual plan for helping you realize the digital pursuits that do, and don't, bring value to your life."–ezra klein, vox – minimalism is the art of knowing how much is just enough. digital minimalism applies this idea to our personal technology. it's the key to living a focused life in an increasingly noisy world. – in this timely and enlightening book, the bestselling author of deep work introduces a philosophy for technology use that has already improved countless lives. – digital minimalists are all around us. they're the calm, happy people who can hold long conversations without furtive glances at their phones. they can get lost in a good book, a woodworking project, or a leisurely morning run. they can have fun with friends and family without the obsessive urge to document the experience. they stay informed about the news of the day, but don't feel overwhelmed by it. they don't experience "fear of missing out" because they already know which activities provide them meaning and satisfaction. – now, newport gives us a name for this quiet movement, and makes a persuasive case for its urgency in our tech-saturated world. common sense tips, like turning off notifications, or occasional rituals like observing a digital sabbath, don't go far enough in helping us take back control of our technological lives, and attempts to unplug completely are complicated by the demands of family, friends and work. – drawing on a diverse array of real-life examples, from amish farmers to harried parents to silicon valley programmers, newport identifies the common practices of digital minimalists and the ideas that underpin them. he shows how digital minimalists are rethinking their relationship to social media, rediscovering the pleasures of the offline world, and reconnecting with their inner selves through regular periods of solitude. he then shares strategies for integrating these practices into your life, starting with a thirty-day "digital declutter" process that has already helped thousands feel less overwhelmed and more in control. – technology is intrinsically neither good nor bad. the key is using it to support your goals and values, rather than letting it use you. this book shows the way.

This is a really down-to-earth and Lively read. It's really fun and enjoyable. Francine Jay has a great sense of humor but Still Remains to the point and practical. I don't feel like I'm reading a book about minimalism or she calls it a living guide I kind of feel like I'm reading a diary. Definitely worth their while also great read if you're just trying to declutter but not necessarily go toward minimalism. This is a pretty lenient book about minimalism coming from somebody (Francine) who only owns one pair of shoes..itsryanlesley
Of all the clutter clear books I read, for some reason this one makes me ACT. I get up and "just toss don't worry if you could have used it" and "devote space to what you do in real life not a fantasy life" (where I was going to wear all those clothes, read all these mags and watch all those dvds!!)meirvin-0
Easy to read, funny, relatable, and sets up a clear plan to declutter that anyone can use and adjust where needed.nwolgamott

Reviews:
I had been organizing my closets and shedding what was "not me". After all , a wardrobe should reflect your current self. This book takes it to a more profound level and discusses, through the author's personal examples and experiences, the concept of minimalism. That is; wanting and having less things without the need to acquire collections of stuff. Very worthwhile information in this book.williamkazak
This books has some good ideas for downsizing & becoming a minimalist but I would not want to decrease the items in my life to the same level as the author.kris7777777
I really learnt a lot from this book and loved it's very conversational tone. I am not a great one for self-help books and I will never have a minimalist home. However, I now look at the things in my home with new eyes. I consider why I might be keeping something. I think twice about buying something. I am transferring documents and photos to electronic files. There is a lot about what stuff is and why we keep and buy it and how getting rid of it can free up time and space (mental & physical). I bought the paperback and made notes and tore out pages I really liked. Then I purchased a hard copy for the bookshelf. I am slowly reconsidering everything I own and do.Wendy the reader

Really nice, wholesome book on minimal/sustainable living. The book recognises that we are in an ecological crisis that necessitates action, but retains a positive and encouraging tone throughout. It is all about being empowered and informed to do what we can as individuals and encourage others to do the same. Many practical suggestions with space to write down your own ideas about what you want to do.Benjamin

'throw it away now. it'll be your start of everything … ' fumio sasaki is not an enlightened minimalism expert. he's just a regular guy who was stressed at work, insecure, and constantly comparing himself to others – until one day he decided to throw away everything he didn't feel like he truly needed, including books, clothes, musical instruments, furniture and gadgets. while this process wasn't easy, the benefits were instantaneous and absolutely remarkable: without all his stuff, sasaki finally felt true freedom, peace of mind, and a new kind of happiness. along the way, sasaki modestly shares his personal minimalist experience, offering tips on the minimizing process and revealing the profound ways in which he has changed since he got rid of everything he didn't truly need.

AN INSIGHTFUL GUIDE TO HELP US NAVIGATE THE COMPLEXITIES OF MODEN LIFEsteveibbit
Fumio Sasaki writes a book that compares to his lifestyle. Not unnecessary things! At first glance, we may think this book is a sort of guide, manual that you read and learn, but instead it is an honest description of a man's jorney. And even more, it takes you along and makes you think about yourself and your "things" and not just about what is on the pages. A great book that will make you think. Even if I was already on the way to some of these ideas, having a little map of the road makes it easier. Remember… If you haven't used it for 4 seasons, it's time to get rid of it!andrimovic
17. Less: A Visual Guide To Minimalism [Ebook]
Product Details:
Simplify life and amplify living by mastering the fundamentals of minimalism through this visual guide to embracing a minimalist lifestyle. – how can living with less contribute to a greater sense of fulfillment? it seems contradictory, yet the minimalist lifestyle, which focuses on scaling back your possessions and simplifying your life to just the essentials, achieves just that. adopt minimal living, and you'll find that less is more:more time because you don't waste it caring for and organizing stuff. – more space because you don't fill it with objects of marginal value. – more money because you don't spend it on unnecessary things. – more clarity because your mind isn't bogged down by the clutter around you. – more enjoyment because your energy is spent on experiences and connections. using decision trees, flow charts, icons, and other graphics, less shows how minimalism can be applied to any area of life–including home, wardrobe, decor, cooking, cleaning, finances, and organizing your time–and how it can be adapted to suit your own goals and help you achieve your version of happiness.

I love this book! I've already read it once and am working my way through a second time! It has amazing advice on how to begin your journey and so much more! I have started my journey and feel so supported having this book to refer back to is just perfect. Highly recommend.Wintersdaughter_
This book didn't really tell me much that I didn't already know but I really loved the simple layout. If I was a beginner I would have loved this as my first introduction to minimalism; it covers all the important points without getting wordy and presents it in a way that is easy to digest. I will definitely be keeping this to lend to any family and friends who would like to read more about minimalism.Julie
