This series is one that from the very moment it starts, although seeming gritty and bloody for the sake of it, evolves into a masterpiece with the most articulate and well thought out stories, aswell as art that'll leave you with starstruck amazement. A manga that has left me and many with all sorts of life lessons, but the most important one being to never falter, even in the toughest of times. I highly recommend that you read Berserk, no matter who you are. Thank you, Kentaro Miura, for everything you've done. For your life's work. For Berserk.A Dandy Guy
I purchased this book for my 18YO son, who was so grateful and excited to receive it. The book is by a much coveted author/ illustrator in the Japanese style who died suddenly this year and so his books have been hard to find. However, Booktopia made it easy and delivered in the timeframe promised. My son has been blown away by this book and already says he will treasure it always as a classic from a Master Storyteller in a very unique style.Ambalina
Miura created this masterpiece back in the late eighties, I've finally had the pleasure of having my hands on a physical copy. The deluxe edition looks incredible, has that lovely new book smell and even comes with its own little bookmark. The leather is thick and feel great on the hand, really adds to the feeling of an adult themed dark fantasy book. I honestly can't say much more than what has been said for Berserk which is considered one of the best mangas out there. 10/10So B.

Then married into more areas of trauma! Now i work with kids in the system. Finally, here is writing about the history of the PTSD diagnosis and how it came to be. And the compassion and caring that these psychiatrists and therapists and researchers express for their patients/clients is very touching. To me, it's as good a book as "The Road Less Traveled" by M. Scott Peck, MD. Easy to read, lots of case histories that actually make sense, and are to the point, and the history of research into causation and the relationship between early childhood trauma, and how the brain adapts in order to "function" after it interprets the trauma. Researchers are actually developing standards for measuring what used to be thought of as "immeasurable". As an accountant and financial analyst, it's the kind of stuff I LOVE!gemsfromjan
A guide for gaining empathy, The Body Keeps The Score: Brain Mind And Body In The Healing Of Trauma is a must-read for anyone recovering from trauma. The book has a three part thesis, supported by science, case studies and experience. 1. Trauma (violence, abuse) embeds itself in the most primal parts of our brains, 2. changing our bodies’ aches and pains into a document of our psychic distress, 3. and our rational minds “hide” the wounds through shame, convincing us the trauma was our fault. As a curious cat with PTSD, this book answered most questions about “how/why” I wound up so easily spooked. It also offers insight into various healing modalities. So far, I’ve tried yoga and psychodrama (#cosplay yay!).andrea.f

This book is amazing with regards to how badly it treats the English Language. From spelling errors (Would you rather be a Iron Man or a Halk), to grammar peculiarities (Would you rather one big fish or much little fish) this book has the potential to confuse and amuse your little ones. Made for a thouroughly entertaining afternoon. One star off because I can't work out if it's a deliberate joke or not.Omegatronacles

Reviews:
I have just ordered two more copies, after only reading the intro.—and Prof. Peterson's numerous interviews simply expand my own heart. In this climate of high anxiety and appalling lack of compassion, echoed by Hugh MacKay in AUSTRALIA REIMAGINED. It is no wonder that he has an enthralled audience of millions, world- wide. My wish is that Prof. Peterson will produce a primer affirming our children and youth, to give them hope— for our learning young to master before they get to our Uni's. that have to do their own serious reflecting. In my opinion. AND to give our valiant teachers stronger morale and endurance—as so vividly depicted in Gabbie Stroud's TEACHER, also published last year. Finally, the more I devour of the Prof.'s 'Rules' the more I want to yell my rental's roof off , in agreement—our kids CAN be brought up in a far better world, if we follow Jordan's example of such raw courage and exemplary scholarship and teaching. I only wish that I could buy another 12 copies to share around !KCKLL
This is the third book I purchase as a gift. Jordan Peterson tells it as it is in how one should behave to be a functional human being in society. This is sadly supposed to be the role of parents but not many parents nurture their kids anymore by teaching them the basic life skills. I've seen so many young people can't keep their own room organised yet trying to solve the world's most complex problem. Let's keep it to basic – stand up straight, make yourself better than who you are yesterday and clean up your room before you try to solve any life's complex problem. You will be more content and happier in life and no longer feeling depressed all the time. Great for both men, women and anyone. I'm a woman who loves this book. This book has changed my life!!This book changes my life
An excellent book written with great depth and understanding about living a life. It is necessary to read at least twice to get a more complete picture of what Peterson is on about. Best of all this book made me think deeply about living a life and the ultimate ending of that life. Highly recommended but only to serious readers and certainly not for shallow thinking people.Bob

Some of the knowledge in this book, I have applied to my life and it has immediately changed it! He talks about setting up good systems for habits which is honestly a mind-blowing concept! It's so simple but yet I've never thought about it before. Everyone wants to immediately change their habits, myself included, but never have any systems in place to achieve this. Reviews:
Very enlightening story about the Korean experience in Japan. A must read if you are interested on Korean and Japanese history. The only flaw is the time line, sometimes the author goes ahead into the future and we misses the oportunity to draw the evolution of the characters. As a reader you are left to fill the blanks. Overall, I would give it a B – but I will still recomend you to read it.acs389
Min Jin Lee’s Pachinko is memorable and full of heart and life’s struggles, ups and downs, challenges, survivals and kindness portrayed in lives of many characters of this unforgettable novel. The author shined a light over Korean people who lived in Japan for many generations, their longing for their unreachable motherland and being forever “outsiders” in Japan. From the start to finish the author told a long but compulsively readable story, and described the harsh life of poor Koreans living in Japan. It also showed how hard work to provide for their family pushed them to work harder, and some of them were successful climbing out of the pit of poverty, and many were not so lucky. Pachinko is a well researched novel and is a pleasure to read.chipen.c

Reviews:
This was fun to work through with on my own and with my wife. Illustrations are so colorful and detailed with kooky character designs that really are enjoyable to look at. Twenty puzzles are plenty to make this unique puzzle book worth the purchase. However, some murder or finder puzzles are so difficult, even with a hint, that it took several hours over a couple nights before I gave up and looked at the solution (this is with the help of 2 or 3 people too). This contrasts with some that are too easy and can be solved in a couple minutes. I think what could have helped balance the difficulty of the more challenging ones was to include more details in the set-up stories. The hints were only helpful in some instances but most of the time they didn't help me to get started if I was really stuck. #sweepstakesfocuspocus
I love mysteries that you can actually solve so was excited to order this book. The stories are very entertaining. I didn't realize that the mysteries are solved using the illustrations and not the text. It makes it unique but I would prefer having clues in both text and illustrations. The illustrations are difficult to see clearly at times making it hard to know if you're seeing a clue or not. Still fun if you like a challengesLarsie
10. The Overstory: A Novel [Book]
Product Details:
Winner of the pulitzer prizenew york times bestseller an air force loadmaster in the vietnam war is shot out of the sky, then saved by falling into a banyan. an artist inherits a hundred years of photographic portraits, all of the same doomed american chestnut. a hard-partying undergraduate in the late 1980s electrocutes herself, dies, and is sent back into life by creatures of air and light. a hearing- and speech-impaired scientist discovers that trees are communicating with one another. these four, and five other strangers—each summoned in different ways by trees—are brought together in a last and violent stand to save the continent’s few remaining acres of virgin forest. in his twelfth novel, national book award winner richard powers delivers a sweeping, impassioned novel of activism and resistance that is also a stunning evocation of—and paean to—the natural world. from the roots to the crown and back to the seeds, the overstory unfolds in concentric rings of interlocking fables that range from antebellum new york to the late twentieth-century timber wars of the pacific northwest and beyond, exploring the essential conflict on this planet: the one taking place between humans and nonhumans. there is a world alongside ours—vast, slow, interconnected, resourceful, magnificently inventive, and almost invisible to us. this is the story of a handful of people who learn how to see that world and who are drawn up into its unfolding catastrophe.the overstory is a book for all readers who despair of humanity’s self-imposed separation from the rest of creation and who hope for the transformative, regenerating possibility of a homecoming. if the trees of this earth could speak, what would they tell us? "listen. there’s something you need to hear."
Reviews:
For me it is a difficult read. Many short stories, some are better than others. So far they are rather dark and depressing. Someone in my book club chose it, so I will finish it. Another friend reading it said, I hope it gets better. I like the information about the variety of trees.charmorton49
I approached The Overstory with high expectations, given it had won the Pulitzer Prize and had rave reviews. On that basis I was a bit disappointed. The author starts with a series of short stories of each of the seven key characters in the work, and gradually intertwines their lives over the remaining 450 pages. It almost works, but a couple of the characters never quite intertwine with the others, and it isn't clear why they are there at all. The uniting theme is that of trees and their characters and longevity, which compares favorably with that of humans. It's compelling and engaging, but sometimes Powers is trying just a bit too hard. Perhaps it had a greater impact on American audiences than Australian, as I suspect our attitudes towards old growth forests are now more positive (after the battles of the 1980s and 1990s). There is some beautiful writing in this work, but it left me just a little unsatisfied.Austi Boy
A complex of characters, operating somewhat like a shopping centre complex for this reader; it tells a tale as dense as a forest ( pardon the glib simile) – a forest where I was struggling for a bit about three quarters of the way through, close to being lost, just before the momentum picked up again heading for .. the… end…Along the way there came a chapter, titled "Seeds" , barely two pages long, that could have stood alone as a short story or would work like a movie trailer.. Yes I would read this book again.Petal

Reviews:
I went out of my way to order from Target, as I'm moving to support *other* online companies, but I can't recommend ordering D&D books from Target. I've ordered several and the first 2 arrived today (Eberron and Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden), each in their own seperate boxes, and both were packaged EXTREMELY poorly (and that's being generous). As you can see from the photos, Eberron came without *ANY* packaging and got dinged up pretty good. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to buy a new book and have it damaged. Going through Target's "Fix an Issue" is a bit of a joke too as the only options are to return the books or get a refund. Why bother with an exchange if they're going to send out and damage another book? I WOULD recommend the books, but I WOULDN'T recommend getting them from Target, unless you can find them in stock at your local store.NateB
A great setting for a campaign. Also the Artificer class is fun! Playing one now.Charles

Reviews:
This story has so many layers it can be easy to get confused if you're not paying total attention, but the way Crouch intermingles all these different times and stories and people is masterful. I was not prepared for this to break my brain even more than Dark Matter did, but I enjoyed every second of it.lemon
Okay, I LOVE some Blake Crouch, I got hooked on him after reading either Dark Matter or the Pines series. This was a great story, based on the existence of time travel and what happens when we alter things when we do it. It’s complete and utter delicious chaos. I feel like it had a lot of elements similar to Dark Matter but I’m okay with that, it was still good. It’s a great fiction read and I’m sure if this one is great for you, his other ones will be too!ashley.r

Reviews:
I love this book because reading about the places, events, groups, etc. fires my imagination and gives me ideas for creating my own campaigns, adventures, and stories. The book is mostly that. 40 pages of places, history, gods and their portfolios. 60 pages of more detailed places. 20 pages of how all the races fit into the world, 25 more pages of class options, 10 pages of backgrounds. So for players, there's 35 pages of extra options. No new magic items, only a few cantrips to fit the new class options. No monsters or familiars. Again, if you want ideas to help you create your own fleshed out locales, this is your book.rt0bler
