Reviews:
Kill phil strategies might work well in a casino tournament, or possibly even in high stakes online tournaments, however, it is a good recipe to go broke with in the lower limit NLH tournaments & sitngo's. This book's strategies do work a little better late tournament, when it's "all in" or fold. A decent read, but definitely not the Tournament "equalizer" that they touted. Definitely do not waste your $ on the Kill Phil Strategy cards sold separately…total waste of $.wildsidewanderer
The strategy in this book is mainly for inexperienced players up against good or even professional players in live tournaments. It provides the ALL-IN move as the big gun to create confusion and frustration against pros who prefer to outplay you post-flop for your chips. The book is not for the faint hearted, you should be ready to take risks to preserve and increase your chip count at all costs. The book teaches you to play limited amount of hands with which you will go All-in with and will teach you how to develop a lot of patience. It also has strategy for online Sit'n'Go and is very valuable, since if you stick to the strategy of the book, you will definitely see great results. The information contained in Kill Phil is useful & productive. It can provide another weapon in the arsenal of a serious poker player. Overall this book is a very interesting read and it may help you become better at winning at poker. Good Luck, Tigran Mujukianjinibaby
book was great it is all someone needs to be successful although the postage was very slow which was a bummer

Reviews:
Dan N. is by far my most favorite player, as small ball works as proven time and time again. His other book is better just because it has so much more info from other pros. That said, this book touches on some really important ideas and is well worth your time. Quick, easy read. www.SuperAggressive.comninjism
Great book to read before any big tournement. Easy to read with solid stratigies to keep in mind for any game. This is not an in depth mathmatical statistic and odds type book. If your looking to get back to the basics of poker this is a great read.nemesis7373
I don't want to play against you if you have had access to Daniel Negreanu's wisdom. With the short chapters and quick tips format you can put this in the bathroom and come out a better player each time you have to use the restroom.mediablitzkc

Loved the way the booked helped me to brush up on the math side of things. Some of the principals seemed basic, and others were so simple, but I know they will add an extra edge to my game. Easy to read and surprisingly short. I was expecting another 300+ page book, and was happy to see when it arrived that it was very thin.
A1 excellent Book…very fast postage Thank you3333craig
5. The Psychology Of Poker [Book]
Product Details:
Poker demands many skills and strategies. to be successful, you must be able to master all of them and then apply them at the appropriate times. they include proper hand selection, bluffing, semi-bluffing, understanding tells and telegraphs, and reading hands. these skills do not come easily since they require unnatural actions. you cannot win just by "doing what comes naturally," dr. schoonmaker is concerned "only with the way that psychological factors affect your own and your opponents' ability to play properly. for example, have you ever wondered why some players seem extremely aggressive while others are passive? why some are tight and others loose? furthermore, have you ever wondered why some tactics seem to come naturally to you while others don't? this text will answer many of these questions. it will explain why you and your opponents play the way you do. the author also suggests strategic adjustments that you should make to improve your results against different types of players, and he suggests personal adjustments that will help you to play better and enjoy the game more.

It's a great book if you are looking to play vers a variety of people. But this is not a book geared for tournie play, more for money games. As it goes it to playing vers people who aren't there specfically to win. It's a good read regardless.databug13
This is the book I needed, but did not know. Lots of good stuff. More ideas on why people (and myself) do the dumb stuff at the tables. I recommend this book, well worth whatever you pay for it. Good luck.scratches12
This book provides an insight into the many demanding psychological skills and strategies of poker play. The author, a respected psychologist in the poker community, emphasises the need to understand these elements, know when to apply them, and strategically developing your approach to the game. The book divides this knowledge into several main chapters – the right stuff; the right skills, styles and ratings, the loose-aggressive player; the loose-passive player; the tight-passive player; and the tight-aggressive player. ‘The Psychology of Poker’ is considered one the foundation books all poker players should read to assist in the understanding of themselves and their opponents at the table. Highly recommended.
6. The Mathematics Of Poker [Book]
Product Details:
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the bond an option markets were dominated by traders who had learned their craft by experience. they believed that there experience and intuition for trading were a renewable edge; this is, that they could make money just as they always had by continuing to trade as they always had. by the mid-1990s, a revolution in trading had occurred; the old school grizzled traders had been replaced by a new breed of quantitative analysts, applying mathematics to the "art" of trading and making of it a science.similarly in poker, for decades, the highest level of pokers have been dominated by players who have learned the game by playing it, "road gamblers" who have cultivated intuition for the game and are adept at reading other players' hands from betting patterns and physical tells.over the last five to ten years, a whole new breed has risen to prominence within the poker community. applying the tools of computer science and mathematics to poker and sharing the information across the internet, these players have challenged many of the assumptions that underlie traditional approaches to the game. one of the most important features of this new approach is a reliance on quantitative analysis and the application of mathematics to the game.the intent of this book is to provide an introduction to quantitative techniques as applied to poker and to a branch of mathematics that is particularly applicable to poker, game theory. there are mathematical techniques that can be applied for poker that are difficult and complex. but most of the mathematics of poker is really not terribly difficult, and the authors have sought to make seemingly difficult topics accessible to players without a very strong mathematical background.

Reviews:
This book is a mathematical tour de force in using game theory and algebra to prove that different poker games require balancing betting, checking, folding, and bluffing, and how to determine the percentages of each; but only trained mathematicians would want these proofs, the rest of us just need to know how to apply it, which is missing here. The authors claim that readers with high-school level algebra can understand the arguments, but the notation used is standard for advanced college math, not high school textbooks. This book is the only one of its kind for mathematical theorists, but not the least bit useful for practical poker players. That said, I would never discourage anyone from taking on a tough intellectual challenge, so buy it and start reading if you're intrigued…raskal77
An excellent book as you would expect it is highly theoretical. There is not a lot of concepts that can be applied to your everyday poker game yet if studied it will definitely help you think on a higher level. This book is not for everyone if you have a good math background and a strong understanding of the fundamentals of poker you will enjoy this book.
This book is not meant to be a reference for the mathematical areas of poker like odds or probability or the like; but rather this book offers a ‘meta approach’ to thinking about the game from a mathematical perspective. I can hear you saying something like ‘Say what now?’ and ‘How can this book do that?’. The book is written in five main parts: basics, exploitive play, optimal play, risk, and other topics. In each part and sub-concept, the authors merge the general theory and their maths theory of the game. Other books change the way you think about a situation; however, this book will change the way you think about the game from their perspective. But take note – there is a lot of mathematical analysis and discussions in this book. You will need at least an upper-level high school or undergraduate mathematics knowledge to make sense of it, but I can see how anyone can pick up a thing or two. So is it worth it to common poker player? My answer is ‘Yes’ and ‘No’. Probably more ‘No’ if you are happy with your game and do not want to confuse yourself; but for those just generally interested in contemporary conceptual and analytical techniques in a text that fundamentally shifts away from the traditional poker book, then probably more ‘Yes’. Either way, this book will be a fun thing to talk about with your poker buddies.
7. Power Hold'em Strategy [Book]
Product Details:
This power-packed book on beating no-limit hold'em is one of the three most influential poker books ever written. negreanu headlines a collection of young, great players – todd brunson, david williams, erick lindgren, evelyn ng and paul wasicka – who share their insider professional moves and winning secrets. you'll learn about short-handed and heads-up play, high-limit cash games, a powerful beginner's strategy to neutralize professional players, how to mix up your play, bluff, and win big pots. the centerpiece, however, is negreanu's powerful and revolutionary small ball strategy. you'll learn how to play hold'em with cards you never would have played before – and with fantastic results. the preflop, flop, turn and river will never look the same again. a must-have!
Reviews:
Daniel Negreanu's section is a great insight into the way professionals play their poker. He describes in depth his small-ball poker concept in which his strategy is to see as many flops as possible with hand that aren't huge favourites preflop but can develop into monsters. The other sections in the book are a bit hit or miss.
This is a great book that will help many poker players improve there game. Concepts that you will read in this book will help you understand all of the important factors that go into your decision making. I recommend this book for anyone trying to become a more consistent winner in poker.lil.dude.777
Great intro to small-ball play as well as advanced techniques. I've modeled my own play around this system and have had the last 5 years profitable (good side-income for uni). Daniel is one of the better poker players around and to make the book even more appealing, he is probably the best writer amongst poker players. There's also great insight from players such as Lindgren and Todd Brunson.
8. Harrington On Cash Games: How To Play No-Limit Hold 'em Cash Games [Book]
Product Details:
The first years of the poker boom were fueled by the interest in no-limit hold 'em tournaments. recently, however, players have been gravitating to another, even more complex form of hold 'em – no-limit cash games. harrington on cash games: volume ii continues where volume i left off. in sections on turn and river play, harrington explains why these are the most important streets in no-limit hold 'em, and shows how to decide when to bet or check, when to call or fold, and when to commit all your chips. in later sections, harrington shows how to play a looser and more aggressive style, how to make the transition from online to live games, and how to extract the maximum profit from very low-stakes games. volume ii concludes with an interview with bobby hoff, considered by many the best no-limit cash game player of all times, who shares some of his secrets and insights.

I thought the Harrington on Hold'em tournament series was great, and these books take the same approach to cash games. These are BY FAR the best out there for full ring NLHE. I was a little dissapointed that he didn't get into 6 max or head's up play, but the material on full ring was FAR superior to anything out right now. Get these books and read them SEVERAL times, and you will never look at the game the same way again!MotorcycleMike

This book chronicles the hand-by-hand account and thoughts of Gus Hansen through a tournament. It has been extremely helpful in adopting and understanding the mindset of a professional during actual play situations and the actions taken and the results obtained. I have just finished reading it for the first time and am beginning to read it again. I have applied the concepts and instruction noted in the book with success during home games. A good, easy read.waycarr

Typical Andy Bellin – very informative and entertaining at the same time nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnpaulk326
Being someone who has read my share of poker books, I was a little disappointed with the first half of this book. It's pretty basic – the concepts pretty much what you'll find in the first few chapters of any basic poker strategy book. It is colored with some fun anecdotes, but didn't offer me much that I didn't know. It felt a little strategy guide-y, but only looked at the ideas in the most basic terms. I guess Bellin felt he needed to frame the rest of the book by giving the reader an idea of what playing poker is all about, but for someone who knows – even a purely recreational player like me – it drags a little. But, starting with the chapter on low-limit pros, the book became much more interesting to me. He really starts to describe the life of a poker player. Some are obvious degenerate gamblers, others it is not so clear. He gives interesting profiles a few different players he's known and describes the places they play and the kinds of characters they find there. It was an interesting look at a world that I think about sometimes – especially when I'm running good and beating my friends – but have never seen first hand.gabedea
