5. 500 Poses For Full-Length Portrait Photography: A Visual Sourcebook For Digital Portrait Photographers [Book]

Product Details:
It's the portrait photographer's job to create a flattering–perhaps idealized–likeness of the subject in front of his or her lens. there are countless things to consider both technically and artistically in order to make that happen. one thing is for certain: the more you show in the portrait, the more of the body that you will need to carefully position and refine. nowhere is this more true than when photographing a full-length subject. every part of the body, from the hair to the tips of the toes, must be posed, clothed, lighted, and shaded in order to look its best. the truth is, most photographers have trouble with conceptualizing and carrying out their client's full-length poses. they have their clients strike a pose and try to envision how to make it look natural, comfortable, and photogenic. unfortunately, their attempts often result in a stiff, unflattering, flat, or just plain awkward presentation. this visual sourcebook features a wide range of full-length poses designed for men, women, teens, kids, and groups–in the studio and on location. photographers will find examples of poses for subjects of all ages that work perfectly for any portrait style, from reserved to edgy and fashion-forward, in seated, standing, and reclining presentations. featuring studio and location (indoor and outdoor) portraits from twenty heralded portrait pros, this book will allow photographers to find a pose to re-create with their client–and adventurous shooters can use a sample portrait as a springboard for a new pose they conceptualize to suit their unique client or one-of-a-kind portrait concept. complete with text on posing basics, this book is an indispensable resource that you'll turn to over and over again.

Great way of explaining lighting techniques and composition idea.jjadeco25
This is an interesting book. It tells you about all the details in portrait photography that is needed to know. Although 'photography' in fact is depth with its very own different formalities…. this book on portrait photography has been one of the many books I have read and OWN that is worth having. Colorful images to better analyze images about what the author is trying to tell you with points getting across. Visualizing the information and seeing it in pictorial view is a good quality to have when reading a photography book… not just to 'imagine' the information and making assumptions. Furthermore, this book gives you illustrations on how to have your studio set up, what lighting is best and format to have it set up in, etc. VERY GOOD and INTERESTING book to read… if you can OWN IT, even better. GOOD LUCK!*treasured*memories*

Reviews:
This is a brief but comprehensive book on portrait photography. I love how it gives the reader a whole lot of information in less than 115 pages. I would recommend it as a worthy read to anyone learning photography.72ladycastle
This is one fo the best photography guides I own. Very detailed and informative.shopper37
This book is full of practical techniques, and gives a good overview, though somewhat shallow, of the subject of portrait photography. This book has some fabulous photos in it as examples of various aspects of portrait photography. If you've read more than one Bill Hurter book, you probably have found information repeated. Amherst Media is something of a title mill, churning out many books with similar content but each with a different twist. This book has several editing errors, such as paragraphs that are cut off then start over on the next page, etc, indicating that it was hastily put together. But the print quality and beauty of the images more than makes up for these faults, especially if you can get the book at a good price on eBay.jdudeck

This is the reference book for photography, and it should be a text book for all photojournalism classes. Every photography subject is covered in minute detail, with numerous examples throughout the book. The photographs presented in this book are superb, in every way. Anyone would proud of each and every photograph in this book, and it is simply astounding that there are so many. I own three other books by the author and each are just as superbly written as this book. HIGHLY recommended.the_kitegal
