Reviews:
Bought this for my husband. He loves it.CODY
Loved this book since I first read it in middle school. Great series along with Shannara and LOTR. Had to buy this 30th Anniversary edition so I had it in hardback.JERAMIAH
Have read this whole series about 5 times now and wanted to re-read it ahead of the TV series being released. However my original copy is now falling to bits so wanted a hardback replacement and came across this anniversary copy. Has a very handy place maker ribbon and good print size. Seems well made and what you would expect from a hardback book. The story, is of course, absolutely brilliant. The first 6 books are stunning, books 7,8,9,10 are good stories but a bit overly expansive in terms of storylines and therefore challenging! and the last 4 (with Brandon Sanderson for the last 3) are excellent727daddy

A new york times bestsellerin this spellbinding exploration of the varieties of love, the author of the worldwide bestseller call me by your name revisits its complex and beguiling characters decades after their first meeting. no novel in recent memory has spoken more movingly to contemporary readers about the nature of love than andré aciman’s haunting call me by your name. first published in 2007, it was hailed as “a love letter, an invocation . . . an exceptionally beautiful book” (stacey d’erasmo, the new york times book review). nearly three quarters of a million copies have been sold, and the book became a much-loved, academy award–winning film starring timothée chalamet as the young elio and armie hammer as oliver, the graduate student with whom he falls in love. in find me, aciman shows us elio’s father, samuel, on a trip from florence to rome to visit elio, who has become a gifted classical pianist. a chance encounter on the train with a beautiful young woman upends sami’s plans and changes his life forever.elio soon moves to paris, where he, too, has a consequential affair, while oliver, now a new england college professor with a family, suddenly finds himself contemplating a return trip across the atlantic. aciman is a master of sensibility, of the intimate details and the emotional nuances that are the substance of passion. find me brings us back inside the magic circle of one of our greatest contemporary romances to ask if, in fact, true love ever dies.

Reviews:
Overall I really enjoy this e-reader. The physical buttons are very nice to still have. I love physical books, but you seriously can't beat being able to carry around a few chick lit novels with you on vacation. I ordered a very cute case with a stand from another retailer and now I'm rockin'. I went with this version because of the physical buttons. No accidental turning like I did with my paperwhite. This is definitely a luxury not a necessity but it's nice to have. Negatives: Expensive for what it is (honestly). Lack of USB -C charging port. Hopefully the next version they update!BrightMe0w
I've had the Oasis for a little over a year now. It definetly does what the paperwhite does, but better regarding the screen and eye strain. It does seem like the battery doesn't last quite as long, but I can't really give any definitive numbers – it just feels a little shorter. The form factor is going to be a love it or hate it situation – I personally like it. My only wish for this device is that it could fit into my pocket a little easier like my old paperwhite did. Is the price worth it? It depends. A Honda Civic will get you to the grocery store all the same as a Corvette – the 'luxury' features of the device are nice, but in no way needed, so it's really up to you and your finances.Praise
Coming from the last Oasis, I was quite bummed when I bought one for my girlfriend and she had the warm-light feature which is standard on this latest model. It is a night and day difference for night reading! In fact, I traded in my old one and got a new model for myself just so I didn't have to lie in bed jealous. I've always liked the way this one felt in your hands – with the ergonomic side grip and buttons. It's just practical, and makes reading more enjoyable. I recommend the Kindle Oasis to any avid reader!bpanter
7. Principles: Life And Work [Book]

Product Details:
#1 new york times bestseller “significant… the book is both instructive and surprisingly moving.” —the new york times ray dalio, one of the world’s most successful investors and entrepreneurs, shares the unconventional principles that he’s developed, refined, and used over the past forty years to create unique results in both life and business—and which any person or organization can adopt to help achieve their goals.in 1975, ray dalio founded an investment firm, bridgewater associates, out of his two-bedroom apartment in new york city. forty years later, bridgewater has made more money for its clients than any other hedge fund in history and grown into the fifth most important private company in the united states, according to fortune magazine. dalio himself has been named to time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world. along the way, dalio discovered a set of unique principles that have led to bridgewater’s exceptionally effective culture, which he describes as “an idea meritocracy that strives to achieve meaningful work and meaningful relationships through radical transparency.” it is these principles, and not anything special about dalio—who grew up an ordinary kid in a middle-class long island neighborhood—that he believes are the reason behind his success. in principles, dalio shares what he’s learned over the course of his remarkable career. he argues that life, management, economics, and investing can all be systemized into rules and understood like machines. the book’s hundreds of practical lessons, which are built around his cornerstones of “radical truth” and “radical transparency,” include dalio laying out the most effective ways for individuals and organizations to make decisions, approach challenges, and build strong teams. he also describes the innovative tools the firm uses to bring an idea meritocracy to life, such as creating “baseball cards” for all employees that distill their strengths and weaknesses, and employing computerized decision-making systems to make believability-weighted decisions. while the book brims with novel ideas for organizations and institutions, principles also offers a clear, straightforward approach to decision-making that dalio believes anyone can apply, no matter what they’re seeking to achieve. here, from a man who has been called both “the steve jobs of investing” and “the philosopher king of the financial universe” (cio magazine), is a rare opportunity to gain proven advice unlike anything you’ll find in the conventional business press.

Absolutely amazing incite on how a trader should think. It's always better (imo) to have the author narrate their own books so you can hear how they intended it to be interpreted. You don't feel like you are listening to an audio disk, you feel as though Ray is sitting at a table having coffee with you and telling his life story, That said, He's a bit monotone and drab, like a grandfather talking about "the good ole days" but with priceless information that can serve you for a lifetime.vikinghammer14

Reviews:
This little book about the reading life was an absolute delight! I read numerous reviews that contain the words charming, winsome, delightful, lovely, and witty to describe this enjoyable book with which I would wholeheartedly agree. My only complaint, which is not truly a complaint, is that my TBR pile grew greatly during the reading of this book. If you love reading and all things bookish I can highly recommend this jewel of a book. Happy Reading!Angie
Quick read for book nerds. It validated all the reasons I love to read and gave me "permission" to read what I enjoy, not what I think I "should" be reading. This would be a good gift for a reading buddy. Anne gives good book recommendations. If you haven't listened to her podcast, "What Should I Read Next," check it out. I haven't been disappointed in any of the books I've read from her suggestions and many are included in this book.Wendy
Anne Bogel's delightful essay collection speaks the language of book lovers, bookworms, and book people. If you have shelves overflowing with titles you love (and plenty you haven't loved yet except because they're pretty), if you are on a first name basis with the librarian or the a bookshop owner, if you start conversations extolling the virtues of the book you just finished that everyone else should read RIGHT NOW, you need this book in your life. Bogel tells stories of her own reading life, and of the lives of her readers, bringing us all into the best place in the world–among those who love reading. Beware, keep pen and paper (or Goodreads app) handy so you can document everything you will want to read next when done.lindsbrac

The author keeps the medical terminology to a minimum making it a great read for those wanting to find out more on ageing. I really enjoyed his enlightenment to the fact that ageing is a disease but is not acknowledged. Instead, the focus is on fighting cancer, diabetes, dementia, etc.Doonerkabab
I really enjoyed the book and I gave given it to a friend who has cancer. The book is introspective and inspiring. It is technical but not too much so. This was a great experience!brudolph10

14. Love On The Brain [Book]

Product Details:
An instant new york times bestsellera #1 libraryreads and indie next pick! from the new york times bestselling author of the love hypothesis comes a new steminist rom-com in which a scientist is forced to work on a project with her nemesis—with explosive results.like an avenging, purple-haired jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, bee königswasser lives by a simple code: what would marie curie do? if nasa offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project—a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia—marie would accept without hesitation. duh. but the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with levi ward. sure, levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. and sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab. but levi made his feelings toward bee very clear in grad school—archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away. now, her equipment is missing, the staff is ignoring her, and bee finds her floundering career in somewhat of a pickle. perhaps it’s her occipital cortex playing tricks on her, but bee could swear she can see levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas…devouring her with those eyes. and the possibilities have all her neurons firing. but when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there’s only one question that matters: what will bee königswasser do?
Reviews:
I did like it. It doesn’t compare to the love hypothesis but I did enjoy it. Definitely a lot spicier in the love scenes. Is it my ultimate favorite? No but it was a good read.Mimi
Can I give is 0 stars? Love Hypothesis is the ONLY reason this book has any sort of HYPE. This book and characters are terrible. Its like the book has an agenda made by the author… MC is absolutely unlikable, feminist liberal with a nasty attitude and woe is me personality. Which absolutely insults and overshadows actual women in the real world, whose profession hold much respect for their intelligence in the fields this MC is. THIS BOOK IS GARBAGE. Just skip it. This author may be a ONE HIT WONDER. Like many Pandemic writers. Fingers crossed we get another enjoyable book like Love Hypothesis. I ended up returning this, couldn’t even finish a few chapters in.Literary Sassy Lassy
I didn't love this one nearly as much as her first book, The Love Hypothesis, but it was still a cute and enjoyable read. The end was a bit dramatic (and somehow also predictable?) for me, though.HabbinJabbins

This is a journey into the past of a young man seen from his future. Couldn't put this one down! Well written with a twist at the end. ENJOY!Edna
I like this book because it reminds me of some things in my younger years; soda counters, root beer floats, etc. Things of the 50s $ 60s. A good coming of age novel. I havent finished it yet-still enjoying every word. I hope it ends well.Dorothy
I was struck by the flawed physical attributes of many of the characters: stuttering brother, hare-lipped sister, blind family friend, and wondered if all of these (except for the brother) really contributed to the plot. Initially, I found the relentless descriptive similes actually corny and repetitive. Fortunately, these began to disappear as the story progressed. The author repeatedly interjects details which are supposed to reinforce the time period, but they seem not to ring true. (I'm sure I did not, in the '60s, serve Kool-Aid at almost every meal.) That being said, it was an interesting read and was generally quite well-written.artistcollectingstuff

Reviews:
I like the new Kindle. It's lightweight and easy to use, just like the Kindle Oasis I have. Amazon has a promotion for three months of free Kindle Unlimited that comes with this new Kindle, and I like that; giving me a chance to try it out before I decide whether to continue the subscription after three months. The backlights are more comfortable for my eyes, and the reading experience is as good as, if not better than, my Kindle Oasis. I only charged it once, and I was glad that it used a USB-C charging cable instead of the old one (I thought it would be the same charging cable as my Kindle Oasis, but no, it was a different, faster one). I wish I could find a charging cover/case just like the one that came with Kindle Oasis, but I could not find any so far. The price is reasonable. I accidentally purchased it once before, and it was around $289, and I had to contact The Good Guys immediately to ask for a full refund. When I came back around, it was $249, and I also used a coupon on eBay to make it even cheaper. I chose to pick it up in-store to save the postage, and I knew the area, so it was convenient for me to collect it on the weekends. It took them a bit of time to find the new Kindle I bought, but it was all good.dr.pokerface
I bought this Kindle against my inclination to do so. I prefer traditional books that I can hold, turn back, put down and continue again. I bought the Kindle because I am on an extended holiday and didn't want to carry a large number of books with me. I am coming to terms with its idiosyncrasies. My reading experience with it is good. Sometimes I get page numbers and sometimes percentages. I would like it to be page number based. I struggle to get back to my book purchases, it's a bit hit and miss. The 150 page instruction book is to complicated and too much to wade through. That said, it is better than my expectation of it.JimM
I love my kindle paperwhite . Its a lot faster than previous generations and the warm light is such a handy feature I never knew I needed. I have had a few problems though the kindle sometimes lags significantly and the performance feels stunted and irregular. It's only happened a couple of times but I just turned it off and on again. Also the way it was packaged was very poor for an electronic device it was just packaged in a plastic sleeve, no box or bubble wrap making it very easy to damage the screen. I recommend buying it from the store. All and all I really love my kindle it makes reading books easy its nice and light so reading it at night is also comfortable.Sanjana

I really enjoyed the book , India Knight is always a good readj12joo
India Knight's style has that something that always makes me wish I could meet her for a chat over a coffee whenever I read a book or article of hers. And this book is no less. It has that informal yet well-informed and thoughtful approach – just like an intelligent, down-to-earth-but-fun older sister, cousin or friend would adopt in sharing the same insights. More importantly, don't be 'fooled' by the title / cover: at face value, it promises advice to women close to / in their middle-age and older. However, I'd recommend this book for anyone (even if only in their twenties) with an interest in acquiring wisdom about how it would feel to be older (and wiser) and also in understanding what an older person – be it mother, work colleague, aunt, etc. – might be going through or trying to handle. And – why not – it needn't be just female readers. A very enriching read.olivegardens
