It was my first experience of using Ebay and a relatively successful one. First, I ordered the book from another seller, but it didn't get to me because of some trouble on the customs or our mail service. Then I decided to buy it here and it was great. The book was really delivered in 14 days or even less in perfect quality. As for the book itself. It really makes me comfortable with my garden. Instead of worrying all the time about some imperfections, it is far better to find ways to enjoy it in every moment and to appreciate nature without forcing it into submission. Wonderful mood for our cold Russian spring!anastasiibarsukov_5

Reviews:
This is the first edition of Mel Bartholomew's SFG book (1981). I intentionally bought an old version. If you are new to Square Foot Gardening, I recommend the All New Square Foot Gardening book, THIRD EDITION (2018). I bought this old book for demonstration purposes in my classes as a Certified SFG instructor.lmauk0
I've wanted this book for ages, so pleased to get it for such a great price, condition is new. The content invaluable it will change my life for the better. A+ on all accounts.red-22
I used this book in the 1990's and had a garden for years. The method Square Foot Gardening takes some upfront prep and you are rewarded with little to no weeds and a very productive garden. I followed the methods in the New SFG book but that book doesn't have the details this 1st edition has. Your best bet is to have both books, the New one for creating your garden setup, then the this 1st edition for plant details. Lot of great ideas to make gardening fun instead of work!americagofishing

A very thorough and comprehensive guide to gardening in a small plot. We bought it for our recently-married son and daughter-in-law for Christmas. They have just moved into a brand new house with a typically tiny garden. This book will give them lots of ideas and, I hope, lots of successful growing.
Such a good book… so much info, very inspiring and just everything you need to know is in there.NL
New to growing fruit and veg in our garden and this book shows us how to grow them in a small garden and lots of ideas. Can't wait to get to a garden centre to buy what we need. An excellent book for novice gardeners like us.susamawso-0

"If there were one single book I would recommend as an introduction on how to create your first raised bed garden it would definitely be this one. This book covers everything you need to know about raised bed gardening; how it is different from normal planting, the various materials you can use, what design would work best for your situation and more! For example, you learn the importance of having drainage holes at the bottom so that water can freely flow out. The author also explains topsoil, subsoil and compost. With raised bed gardening it is not necessary to have your own compost pile, but you need to know how these things work together if you want a successful garden. You will also find information on giving your garden a finishing touch at the end of the season with winter protection techniques, just like mulching with leaves or straw for example. What I liked most about this book is the advice on what plants are best suited for raised bed gardening; everybody has different ideas about which plants do well in this type of environment, some people swear by carrots. You will also be provided with an example of how to set up your own raised bed garden step by step. If I was pressed for time and had just one book to give someone who was interested in raised bed gardening, this would be it!"Yasmin
This is the same review that I left for the paperback version however I have to say that this is a far superior book being that it is in full colour and slightly larger in size. Introduction to raised bed gardening is the first step toward a healthy life and fulfilling future for you and your family. In this book, learn how to create your own garden from scratch, build healthy soil for it, plan varieties of vegetables that can grow well in your climate zone and then finally get to harvest the crops. This book has been written by an experienced organic gardener who has a lot of experience in both traditional as well as raised bed gardening techniques. So you can be sure about their advice is practical and not vague theories written down just because they sound good on paper. Introduction to raised bed gardening will provide you with comprehensive information so that no matter how dreadful or green your thumb might be – you will become an ace of a gardener within no time. If you want to clean up your diet from those harmful pesticides, be healthier due to fresh vegetables and fruits, save some money on expensive organic produce from the nearby store – then this book is for you. It will teach you how to plant your vegetable garden on a budget, how to make raised beds out of recycled materials and best of all – it comes with many helpful photographs that show each step in action.James

I am working on my backyard landscaping and this book has been incredibly helpful in helping me choose plants that are water wise, colorful, and will do well in the different areas of my yard based on the amount of sun each area receives.timb189
The Sunset New Western Garden Book is wonderful source of information for home gardeners and for Master Gardeners who find it useful as a reference book. The wide variety of plants surveyed in this book is helpful to Gardeners in California, Hawaii and all warm climates. The color photo galleries are a tremendous help with plant identification. The book covers the range of environments that gardeners encounter, from rainforests to deserts.artocarpus
It's definitely the best place to start. It has a really good plant finder that puts you in the right direction of what you want and where you want it. If you don't know what a certain plant is called you can always flip through the book it's hard to do that on the internet. It doesn't have a lot of specific information about a bunch of plants but once you get the name and general idea you can always go online and get more specific information if you need it.liquidpaper05
