Well I've actually read the book except for the last 3 chapters. This book gives a really good overview of technical analysis in a clear, easy to read style. I'm already trading and have picked up lots of tips from reading it. It has also switched the light on for me about a number of things that I didn't really get. Highly recommended as a starter book for technical analysis. Wish I'd read in years ago.

Reviews:
Never would have known that Phillip Morris has been the best performing company since 1925. Australia's low smoking rates are just a tip in the ocean compared to the rest of world. Personally I am not a smoker and Australian Super has divested from Phillip Morris due to ethical reasons but there is an argument that it is better it is done legally. Some investment tips are counterintuitive. Vaneck ETFs MOAT and GOAT have Phillip Morris.Who says you can't beat the mark

4. Market Wizards, Updated: Interviews With Top Traders [Book]

Product Details:
The world's top trader's reveal the secrets of their phenomenal success! how do the world's most successful traders amass tens, hundreds of millions of dollars a year? are they masters of an occult knowledge, lucky winners in a random market lottery, natural-born virtuosi—mozarts of the markets? in search of an answer, bestselling author jack d. schwager interviewed dozens of top traders across most financial markets. while their responses differed in the details, all of them could be boiled down to the same essential formula: solid methodology + proper mental attitude = trading success. in market wizards schwager lets you hear, in their own words, what those super-traders had to say about their unprecedented successes, and he distils their responses down into a set of guiding principles you can use to become a trading star in your own right. features interviews with superstar money-makers including bruce kovner, richard dennis, paul tudor jones, michel steinhardt, ed seykota, marty schwartz, tom baldwin, and more tells the true stories behind sensational trading coups, including the one about the trader who turned $30,000 into $80 million, the hedge fund manager who's averaged 30% returns every year for the past twenty-one years, and the t-bond futures trader who parlayed $25,000 into $2 billion in a single day! "market wizards is one of the most fascinating books ever written about wall street. a few of the 'wizards' are my friends—and jack schwager has nailed their modus operandi on the head." –martin w. zweig, ph.d., editor, the zweig forecast
Reviews:
Some aspects were hard to grasp, especially in the first 200 pages – (not stocks)Interviews
All I know is my partner is studying the financial markets…wanted the book and over the Xmas period read it from cover to cover -said it was great .rooneymae8
Although this book was written some time ago, I would rate it as one of the best investment books of all times, along with Reminiscences of a Stock Operator by Edwin Lefevre and The Laws of Prosperity by Kenneth Copeland. I have been a trader for quite some time (over 30 years), and I know all to well that the psychology of trading is just as important, if not more important, than the trading method. A person can have a very strong trading system, but if that same person makes trading mistakes all of the time the strong system will be of little value. In other words, you must, for lack of better words, have your mind right. Market Wizards is a book about getting your mind right. It consists of interviews with very successful traders who were able to get their minds right even after some of them struggled considerably with having their minds wrong. I have now read the book three times, and will probably read it again.kevin-jk

Best short book on investing for a newbie. My brother recommended it to me. He worked in the Stock Market. It sure changed my mind about flipping in and out of stocks think I could beat the market, and having an adviser. Index stocks and index bonds do the best over the long haul. Financial advisors will hate this book. I didn't!beachtass
6. The Little Book Of Common Sense Investing: The Only Way To Guarantee Your Fair Share Of Stock Market Returns [Book]

Product Details:
"rather than listen to the siren songs from investment managers, investors—large and small—should instead read jack bogle's the little book of common sense investing." —warren buffett the bestselling investing "bible" offers new information, new insights, and new perspectives the little book of common sense investing is the classic guide to getting smart about the market. legendary mutual fund pioneer john c. bogle reveals his key to getting more out of investing: low-cost index funds. bogle describes the simplest and most effective investment strategy for building wealth over the long term: buy and hold, at very low cost, a mutual fund that tracks a broad stock market index such as the s&p 500. while the stock market has tumbled and then soared since the first edition of the little book of common sense investing was published in april 2007, bogle's investment principles have endured and served investors well. this tenth anniversary edition includes updated data and new information but maintains the same long-term perspective as its predecessor. bogle has also added two new chapters designed to provide further guidance to investors: one on asset allocation, the other on retirement investing. a portfolio focused on index funds is the only investment that effectively guarantees your fair share of stock market returns. this strategy is favored by warren buffett, who said this about bogle: "if a statue is ever erected to honor the person who has done the most for american investors, the hands-down choice should be jack bogle. for decades, jack has urged investors to invest in ultra-low-cost index funds. . . . today, however, he has the satisfaction of knowing that he helped millions of investors realize far better returns on their savings than they otherwise would have earned. he is a hero to them and to me." bogle shows you how to make index investing work for you and help you achieve your financial goals, and finds support from some of the world's best financial minds: not only warren buffett, but also benjamin graham, paul samuelson, burton malkiel, yale's david swensen, cliff asness of aqr, and many others. this new edition of the little book of common sense investing offers you the same solid strategy as its predecessor for building your financial future. build a broadly diversified, low-cost portfolio without the risks of individual stocks, manager selection, or sector rotation. forget the fads and marketing hype, and focus on what works in the real world. recognize that in the long run, business reality trumps market expectations. learn how to harness the magic of compounding returns while avoiding the tyranny of compounding costs. while index investing allows you to sit back and let the market do the work for you, too many investors trade frantically, turning a winner's game into a loser's game. the little book of common sense investing is a solid guidebook to your financial future.

7. Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What The Rich Teach Their Kids About Money– That The Poor And Middle Class Do Not! [Book]
Product Details:
Robert kiyosaki reveals how he developed his unique economic perspective from his two fathers: his real father, who was highly educated but fiscally poor; and the father of his best friend – an eighth-grade drop-out who became a self-made multi-millionaire. the lifelong monetary problems experienced by his poor dad pounded home the counterpoint communicated by his rich dad. taking that message to heart, kiyosaki was able to retire at the age of 47. this book lays out his philosophy and aims to open readers eyes by: exploding the myth that you need to earn a high income to be rich; challenging the belief that your house is an asset; showing parents why they can't rely on schools to teach their children about money; defining once and for all an asset versus a liability; and explaining what to teach your children about money for their future financial success.
Reviews:
Robert Kyosaki- Rich Dad Poor Dad is the book that has caused me to 'Think Big'. His formula for success has been tried and proven.Do not believe for one minute after reading this book that education (ie going to school, getting a university degree) is not important. However, look at a number of the rich and famous. Were they always the brightest in school? NO!!!!!! But they had TALENT and a natural knack to succeed. Quite frankly, it is so hard to get a job these days. Many of our young people are coming out of the colleges and universities to sit and do nothing. There are only a few who would think outside the box and try something different. The ones who tend to be different, who are SMART risk takers, who rises every time they fall, who learns from their mistakes and the mistakes of others- tend to succeed. The book is so easy to read. The illustrations that the author use is clear. The text is so easy on the eyes and the language comprehend able so even the average man can understand, be motivated and to be different from the crowd.jm_miche
MOST AMAZING SELF – HELP BOOK I READ SO FAR (Finance related). I have read many books till now but no one can compete Rich Dad and Poor Dad so far. One word to describe it- EYE OPENER A Must read book for everyone. I would definitely recommend to read it once, it's definitely gonna blow your mind.d.d
Phenomenal writing. Maybe the best financial advice offered in a century. Kiyosaki is articulate as he weaves his tale of life experience from mediocre living to great wealth. I know from experience his information is true, because I was taught this when I was young. Rich Dad, Poor Dad should be required reading for all teenagers and adults alike who do not understand how to read the financial pages in the newspaper. He breaks the complexities of economists and bankers down into bite sized pieces for the layman.ashley.r

9. The Simple Path To Wealth: Your Road Map To Financial Independence And A Rich, Free Life [Book]

Product Details:
"in the dark, bewildering, trap-infested jungle of misinformation and opaque riddles that is the world of investment, jl collins is the fatherly wizard on the side of the path, offering a simple map, warm words of encouragement and the tools to forge your way through with confidence. you''ll never find a wiser advisor with a bigger heart." — malachi rempen: filmmaker, cartoonist, author and self-described ruffian this book grew out of a series of letters to my daughter concerning various things-mostly about money and investing-she was not yet quite ready to hear. "but dad," she once said, "i know money is important. i just don''t want to spend my life thinking about it." this was eye-opening. i love this stuff. but most people have better things to do with their precious time. bridges to build, diseases to cure, treaties to negotiate, mountains to climb, technologies to create, children to teach, businesses to run. unfortunately, benign neglect of things financial leaves you open to the charlatans of the financial world. here''s an important truth: complex investments exist only to profit those who create and sell them. not only are they more costly to the investor, they are less effective. the simple approach i created for her and present now to you, is not only easy to understand and implement, it is more powerful than any other. the importance of having f-you money. how to think about money, and the unique way understanding this is key to building your wealth. where traditional investing advice goes wrong and what actually works. what the stock market really is and how it really works. why the stock market always goes up and why most people still lose money investing in it. how to invest in a raging bull, or bear, market. specific investments to implement these strategies. the wealth building and wealth preservation phases of your investing life and why they are not always tied to your age. how your asset allocation is tied to those phases and how to choose it. how to simplify the sometimes confusing world of 401(k), 403(b), tsp, ira and roth accounts. trfs (target retirement funds), hsas (health savings accounts) and rmds (required minimum distributions). why you should be very cautious when engaging an investment advisor and whether you need to at all. why and how you can be conned, and how to avoid becoming prey. why i don''t recommend dollar cost averaging. what the 4% rule is and how to use it to safely spend your wealth. the truth behind social security. a case study on how this all can be implemented in real life. don''t let any of this intimidate you. those that have gone before you say: "….in his patented no-frills and often humorous style, jl makes it both approachable and simple. and powerful." "…effective message told in a visual, funny style." "…a refreshingly unique and approachable take on investing." "jl collins has the gift of making boring financial concepts funny and interesting." "instead of esoteric equations about measuring a stock''s alpha and comparing it to its beta, he lights up the campfire and starts telling stories." enjoy the read, and the journey!

As a student of finance, Active Value Investing: Making Money in Range-Bound Markets provided me with new insights about the overall market and how to value individual stocks. The book details why the market is going to be a volatile place for years to come and provides a practical approach on analyzing stocks and calculating figures to buy good stocks at low prices and sell when they become overvalued. The book discusses complex models and topics in terms that are easy to understand and follow. Reading this book made me a better investor and I recommend it to anyone looking for a methodical way to determine buy and sell prices for any stock.Valuefinder
The author defines the current market as range-bound. Great timing, just when the market may take a dive south big time. Viewing the past 100 years of stock market in a log scale and claiming the only true bear market was 1929 depression conveniently hides the several market corrections that occurred later, in which the major indices dove more than 50%. The investment method doesn't seem very actionable. May work if your investment horizon is indeed 100 years.kkantan
Well thought out process for buying and selling value stocks. The best of the 20 books I've read on the topic. The description of absolute P/E worth the entire price of the book!najrac

Reviews:
Mel Robbins High Five Habit is one of the best books I’ve ever read, I love the way she reads it to you on Audible. It sounds just like she is sitting next to you. Her and tony Robbins are my favourite. Definitely a must read. She is so inspirational.becky.l
There's a lot of good content in this book which is extremely helpful, however I can't help but feel that half of the book is a giant ad for companies that Tony either owns or is associated with. He finished the book suggesting you donate your spare change to a company that helps feed starving kids (great), which is a company that he owns (not so great). I have no doubt that Tony is a great and caring individual, and he comes from the right place with this book, but a lot of it feels like it's designed to draw you to use his products. The book is very much built for the American market, and while some principals are universal, a lot of the advice is not relevant for the NZ market. He hypes up this super portfolio for the whole book, which could have just been shared from the start and saved about 200 pages on this already long and dense read. The book in the middle stages heavily relies on using an app to determine your savings goals and similar, however the app is iOs exclusive, so if you're like me with an android phone then a good 10% of the book can't actually be accessed. Save yourself 30 bucks and just google the principals of the book. If you're still interested, buy it, but saving that use your $30 dollars for something else.Haydn
good book but it has way too much information. Tony may have settled with 150 less pages to make it to-the-point! It does get you to a "solution" quicker, you have way too many data points to possibly get confused. it is a good but, with great data points but if your expectation was to derive a solution that is relevant for you, you will need additional reading.chanegathiya

Reviews:
A previous reader considered at least one sentence per page to be important enough to highlight in yellow. The good condition definition reads no highlights. The book is hard to read due to the markings.19flyboy79
Warren Buffett's pick – as the best book written on his sort of investment approach to the market. Buffett's investment firm, Berkshire Hathaway, is the 9th largest company on the SP500, so he must know something investment, right? As Buffett points out in numerous public places (including clips of him being interviewed, see Youtube), Chapter 8 (on market fluctuations and how to intelligently deal with them) and Chapter 20 (on the risk of catathrophic loss and how to intelligently deal with it) are the most important chapters. The Intelligent Investor was originally written in 1949, so many of Graham's examples are very dated. However the advice itself, as Buffett notes, is timeless. Each chapter in this particular Revised Edition has been updated by Jason Zweig with newer examples that extend to 2003. Zweig's writing and examples are clearer than Graham's in my opinion. There is enough here for what Graham calls the "Defensive Investor" (those of us who buy and hold index funds for decades, essentially dollar cost averaging, allocation, re-allocation, diversification etc. etc.) to be worth a read, although much of the book pertains to the "Enterprising Investor" (those of us who aren't primarily Defensive Investors). Age old advice about confusing speculation with investing and psychological / emotional factors (such as resisting the temptation to sell when the market tanks or buying stocks at excesssively high prices when the market is bullish) abound. Good time tested advice that you probably won't hear from your stock broker or your cryptocurrency sellerjohnjacqueline
This book can be viewed as a summary of 'Security Analysis', another of the authors famous books which is generally considered to be the more hard-core text book version on the subject of investing and stock analysis. This book will help an inspiring investor understand what he/she is buying and how to justify the purchase price through arithmetic. Benjamin Graham was a fantastic mathematician so there are plenty of great examples in accounting used. The chapter commentary relates modern examples of the early 2000's tech boom-and-bust to Ben Graham's teachings throughout each chapter and the reader will find that this book is still extremely relevant in today's markets. Recommended to those who are more familiar with financial markets, as the author's writing style assumes his audience to be on a more informed level on the subject of financial markets and equities. For those that enjoy and want a little more, check out 'Security Analysis', by Benjamin Graham and David Dodd. You wont be disappointed.Mat

Reviews:
Great book. Very informativeGaz
Delivered on the promiseJeff
read about the intelligent investor while browsing the internet. After much consideration I decided to bite the bullet and buy it. The only reason I gave it such a low review was because it was basically was just confirming what I already knew buy in cheap sell off big ride the market like a roller coaster. don't put all your eggs in one basket. I like the book because Graham has a broad view of investment strategies how ever he was wrong about the governmental CD as I put his strategies into practice on an asx simulator. the cds I bought didn't work out all to well. (Maybe it was a poor choice on my part.) although he made me fell better as I read it as he put one of those annoying know it all in their place. They may know a lot about science but they have zero I.Q when it comes to business. stocks and governmental bonds cds. Anyway graham was a intelligent man regardless of the book. making money off the book very intelligent. His words of wisdom were easy to read and under stand. how ever due to slow growth in recent times as business don't seem t be able to grow much technology is nearing its peak . Its not as useful as it would have been in the 1970s -1999s. Even though some of the companies are still doing ok in todays market must of them have become redundant. Grahams the intelligent investor makes it simple to understand and has They are no where near as unfortunately none of my "friend" would enjoy this type of literature to much fact not enough fiction.reader

19. Money, Banking And Financial Markets [Book]

Product Details:
Cecchetti & schoenholtz money, banking, and financial markets, 3rd edition offers a fresh, modern, and more student-friendly approach. students will find the material relevant and interesting because of the book's unique emphasis on the five core principles, the early introduction of risk, and an integrated global perspective. by focusing on the big picture via core principles, cecchetti & schoenholtz teaches students the rationale for financial rules and institutional structure so that even when the financial system evolves, students' knowledge will not be out of date. the worldwide financial crisis of 2007‐2009 was the most severe since that of the 1930s, and the recession that followed was the most widespread and costly since the great depression. around the world, it cost tens of millions of workers their jobs. in the united states, millions of families lost their homes and their wealth. to stem the crisis, governments and central banks took aggressive and, in many ways, unprecedented actions. as a result, change will be sweeping through the world of banking and financial markets for years to come. just as the crisis is transforming the financial system and government policy, it is transforming the study of money and banking. against this background, students who memorize the operational details of today's financial system are investing in a short‐lived asset. cecchetti & schoenholtz money, banking, and financial markets, 3e focuses on the basic functions served by the financial system while deemphasizing its current structure and rules. learning the economic rationale behind current financial tools, rules, and structures is much more valuable than concentrating on the tools, rules, and structures themselves. students will gain the ability to understand and evaluate whatever financial innovations and developments they confront.
