9. The Snowy Day (Board Book) By Keats, Ezra Jack
Product Details:
This used book is in good condition. this book came from a library. this book is missing its dust jacket. the snowy day, a 1963 caldecott medal winner, is the simple tale of a boy waking up to discover that snow has fallen during the night. keats's illustrations, using cut-outs, watercolors, and collage, are strikingly beautiful in their understated color and composition. the tranquil story mirrors the calm presence of the paintings, and both exude the silence of a freshly snow-covered landscape. the little boy celebrates the snow-draped city with a day of humble adventures–experimenting with footprints, knocking snow from a tree, creating snow angels, and trying to save a snowball for the next day. awakening to a winter wonderland is an ageless, ever-magical experience, and one made nearly visceral by keats's gentle tribute. the book is notable not only for its lovely artwork and tone, but also for its importance as a trailblazer. according to horn book magazine, the snowy day was "the very first full-color picture book to feature a small black hero"–yet another reason to add this classic to your shelves. it's as unique and special as a snowflake.

This book is a classic and I'm extremely happy to have Reddit to my son. I grew up with this book as a little girl. It arrived in great condition. And he has requested several times to read the book even though we've only had it a few days. It immediately became one of his favorites. It's nice to have characters in a book that look like him.newsdiva1920
10. Sapiens: A Brief History Of Humankind [Book]
Product Details:
Official u.s. edition with full color illustrations throughout.new york times bestsellera summer reading pick for president barack obama, bill gates, and mark zuckerberg from a renowned historian comes a groundbreaking narrative of humanity’s creation and evolution—a #1 international bestseller—that explores the ways in which biology and history have defined us and enhanced our understanding of what it means to be “human.” one hundred thousand years ago, at least six different species of humans inhabited earth. yet today there is only one—homo sapiens. what happened to the others? and what may happen to us? most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but dr. yuval noah harari breaks the mold with this highly original book that begins about 70,000 years ago with the appearance of modern cognition. from examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.dr. harari also compels us to look ahead, because over the last few decades humans have begun to bend laws of natural selection that have governed life for the past four billion years. featuring 27 photographs, 6 maps, and 25 illustrations/diagrams, this provocative and insightful work is sure to spark debate and is essential reading for aficionados of jared diamond, james gleick, matt ridley, robert wright, and sharon moalem.
Reviews:
Sapiens is an insightful, history-laden explanation of how and why we humans organize ourselves the way we do. At the same time, it's a readable story of human history. Harari is an apt guide who doesn't preach, but lays out for us how we may have come by some of our inner workings. At a time when the future looks opaque, an unflinching look at our past can do wonders. I read all three Harari books this past summer, but found Sapiens to be the most compelling and important work of the three. A book that will change your mind, if you're open to it.jwregularguy
The book is a modern day classic which tries to reason why certain decisions were chosen over the other and how these decisions have shaped up the course of human history. While giving us potential explanations, Yuval also reminds us that these are mere speculations or theories and nobody can be sure what was going inside the minds of homo sapiens at that time. Some chapters are a bit of a stretch, though when someone tries to summarize the course of 70,000 years of human history into 416 pages, one can hardly complain. I have given an extra star for BookishSanta team who have provided the book in original (color edition) form with a nice touch of handwritten note.Utkarsh Y.
I really enjoyed this book. It is well written and had me gripped from page one. The author puts things into perspective – drawing analogies and parallels – that is shocking , surprising and even funny. I felt a number of emotions reading this, from ignorance, astonishing intellect, shock, horror, surprise, anger, sadness, hunger? I highly recommend for anyone looking for a easy, albeit enlightening read about the development of human, society and life as we know it.Gene

Fun name for the book and I get why people like the illustrations and rhymes. However, it starts off making fun of a donkey with a prosthetic leg. Not a snowflake here but would you enjoy this book if your kiddo had a disability? So many other good books out there, I returned this one.GBE
Love the book. Bought this for Christmas for my granddaughter. The delivery was terrible. Doordash delivered it without a bag. Set the book in the front porch with the label attached! That was terrible! It was a little childa paperback.. it could have blown away. It should have at least been in a walmart bag!Cheryl
I first heard of this book like most of the reviews here, from the you tube grama reading it to her baby grandson. My husband and I both laughed so hard, right along with grama. I just had to get this book for my grandkids. I purchased 2, one for my granddaughters in North Carolina Carolina one for my grandsons here in California. Even though we had already seen the video, when the book arrived, I read it outloud, and my husband and I totally cracked up again. A VERY "Feel good" book! I'm going to suggest to my 7 yr old grandson to take this book to school for his teacher to read to his class. I think they'll love it and crack up like we didbubbagirl69691

Love the story wish it was hardback for the children.mill-1pgp9
So amazing to see that little red hooded child, just like the postage stamp playing in the snow. Here in Austin we received 1 1/2inches of snow two weeks ago, so the book is so timely. It was the first time my 4 year old grand daughter actually saw and played in snow. She may not have that experience again!Lala2010

Reviews:
This is one of the funniest, nerdiest reads I've ever bought – endlessly clever, endlessly silly, endlessly readable. Highly recommended. I've started my teenage kid on it too.XD
It arrived in really good condition . There were some minor damages that weren’t noticeable . In the other hand ; the book is really interesting , however can be in some cases complex to understand as it has scientific terminology .Olga S.
What If? Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions by Randall Munroe is a fun read, with outrageous scenarios and real-life science applied to them. It combines humour and science together well, with little comic illustrations.CHRYS
