1. The Dallas Cowboys: The Outrageous History Of The Biggest, Loudest, Most Hated, Best Loved Football Team In America [Book]

Product Details:
Love them or hate them, there's no such thing as a football fan who doesn't have an opinion on the dallas cowboys. from dandy don meredith, roger staubach and america's team to the dynasty of the mid-nineties that won three super bowls and the glitzy soap opera team of today, the cowboys have been delighting their fans and infuriating their rivals since 1960. what sets the cowboys apart from all other nfl franchises is that they have never been just about football. with their overbearing, ego-driven owner, players who can't stay out of the tabloids, a palatial new home field that sets the standard for modern stadiums, fans as enthusiastic as cheerleaders, and cheerleaders who are nearly as famous as the team itself, the cowboys have become a staple of americana. there is enough star power in the history of the team to drive an entire narrative, but the dallas cowboys will be more than that.cowboys' stories abound, involving everything from the team's founder to its coaches, from running backs to quarterbacks. joe nick patoski will plumb all these anecdotes, going to the locker rooms as well as to the boardrooms and the backrooms, and writing a book that will be not just an account of the team, but a very rich portrait of a time, a place, and a culture.

4. To Tame A Cowboy [Book]

Product Details:
They share a passion to heal what is broken, but it's their own hearts that need to be made whole. brody mcquaid is a broken man, and he knows it. while his body survived the war, his soul did not. besides loving his little niece, his only sense of purpose comes from saving the wild horses that roam south park. ranchers in the area have taken to killing the horses, which are competing with their cattle to feed on the open grass. savannah marshall is a veterinarian on her family's colorado ranch. she longs to keep her father happy following the tragic death of her older brother, including marrying a man of his choosing. but days before her wedding, she gets cold feet and disappears to south park. as she learns more about the destruction of the horses, she joins brody in an attempt to save the wild creatures. but when savannah's family and the resentments of the area cattlemen catch up with them both, brody and savannah will have to tame their fears if they've any hope to let love run free.
Reviews:
3.5 stars "She hadn't minded the quietness. She'd learned over the years that wounded creatures often required more time and patience before being willing to trust. And she sensed Brody needed an extra dose of time and patience." Veterinarian Savannah Marshall is a runaway bride. Escaping a marriage that is riddled with doubts, Savannah pushes herself higher into the Colorado mountains; away from her father, away from her betrothal, away from all the expectations surrounding her future, and straight into the remote town of Fairplay, where she meets a man who changes her notions about .. . . . . well, just about everything. "Brody might have survived the war physically, but it damaged part of his soul.", Linnea McQuaid tells Savannah. Brody's family has taken a liking to Savannah, especially after his older brother Flynn notices the calming effect Savannah has on Brody while handling a wounded animal together. At least Savannah has secured gainful employment, albeit temporary, on the McQuaid ranch, while building up her reputation in the area. It's pretty obvious that Brody has a God-given gift with horses, and Savannah loves his passion for saving the area's beautiful wild mustangs. But there's another kind of passion brewing that Savannah has no idea how to manage. If you have ever visited Colorado, this setting sets the stage for a virtual vacation (or perhaps, picnic???) across the majestic Rocky Mountains with their snow-covered peaks (even in the summer) and miles upon miles of ranch land along their base; clear rivers and streams, and the most beautiful sunsets. But the weather changes quickly . . . which Savannah and Brody are about to find out. Enjoy this over-the-top-and-back-down-again romance!
Having read and loved the first two books in the Colorado Cowboys series, I did not think the series could get any better. Then, along came Brody’s story—WOW! I was totally immersed in this book from first word to last! The narrative runs the gamut of the emotions from outspoken Ivy’s humorous matchmaking to Brody’s angst as he experiences recurrent war-related nightmares. Ms. Hedlund excels in bringing her richly drawn characters to life as they capture your heart and imagination. I love Brody and Savannah individually and as a couple and have added them to my favorite fictional couples list! The story moves quickly and flows smoothly with the author’s signature descriptive language which I enjoy so much. I appreciate the inspiring faith thread that is woven throughout the story. To Tame a Cowboy is a wonderfully entertaining, deeply absorbing, and intensely satisfying read. I highly recommend it especially for readers who enjoy action and adventure wrapped in sweet romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.Carolyn
To Tame a Cowboy by Jody Hedlund is the third book in the Colorado Cowboys series, and it has become a favorite of mine from this author! Savannah and Brody’s story is one of imperfections, scars, and brokenness but also about the beauty that comes through true healing and redemption. Brody is a strong, handsome, hot-tempered cowboy with a soft heart for helping the helpless. While his memories of the war are heartbreaking, and his journey of healing emotional, I enjoyed watching his heart come back to life again. The balance between Brody’s brokenness and the healing nature of Savannah drew me into this story completely and made me fall in love with their romance. Savannah is an amazing young woman. I loved her gentle nature and her gift of seeing the beauty among the broken–especially the way she encouraged Brody as he fought his demons. The characters’s inspirational journeys were not over-bearing but perfectly blended into the story and made me think about my own faith. I love it when a novel can challenge me as I’m reading. Overall, I fell in love with Brody and Savannah’s story. Fans of historical romance (especially those who love stories set in the West) will want this book on their TBR. And I can’t wait until the next installment with Ivy and Jericho. I can already see the sparks flying! I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations of a positive review. All opinions are my own.BlessednBookish
5. A Taste Of Cowboy: Ranch Recipes And Tales From The Trail [Book]

Product Details:
Irresistible recipes from pantry ingredients by an authentic cowboy and tv veteran whether he's beating bobby flay at chicken-fried steak on the food network, catering for a barbecue, bar mitzvah, or wedding, or cooking for cowboys in the middle of nowhere, kent rollins makes comfort food that satisfies. this gifted cook, tv contestant, and storyteller takes us into his frontier world with simple food anyone can do. a cowboy's day starts early and ends late. kent offers labor-saving breakfasts like egg bowls with smoked cream sauce. for lunch or dinner, there's 20-minute green pepper frito pie, hands-off, four-ingredient sweet heat chopped barbecue sandwiches, or mild and smoky roasted bean-stuffed poblano peppers. he even parts with his prized recipe for bread pudding with whisky cream sauce. (the secret to its lightness? hamburger buns.) kent gets creative with ingredients on everyone's shelves, using lime soda to caramelize sparkling taters and balsamic vinegar to coax the sweetness out of strawberry pie. with stunning photos of the american west and kent's lively tales and poetry, a taste of cowboy is a must-have for everyone who loves good, honest food and wants a glimpse of a vanishing way of life.
Reviews:
Great cowboy photos, nostalgia …bad recipes! Yeah, I thought Kent was a good ole cowboy chef. What a great actor. 95% of his followers give him 5 …or 4 stars or a thumbs up. The other 5% actually tried his written recipes. Kent is pure actor/facade …the old cowboy chef that people wish was his grandad …or neighbor at least. But …follow his written recipes …he is a very poor chef!!! Example …Beef Stir Fry …1 pound of beef with 2 tablespoons of black pepper. Try it ….if you get past the first bite …maybe you can eat some more …but you wont really like it. Out of 15 beef stir fry recipes I tried in a lifetime of cooking …the spiciest pepper stir-fry was a Vietnamese Beef/Black-Pepper/Basil stir fry …which called for 1 TEASPOON of black pepper for a pound of beef (the rest had no black pepper to a max of 1/2 TEASPOON.) Kent wants you to destroy this meal by using 2 full TABLESPOONS of black pepper …only palatable if you are desperate!!! And …there are other (lesser) problems with the written recipe …which is very different than the video. The problems with this recipe should be obvious, but …I contacted Kent about the problem …and he was essentially unresponsive!!! And I, have had over 17 years in the restaurant/bar and Natural Foods (store catering) businesses (as owner.) I think I can consider myself a culinary professional. Try Kents's written Beef Stir Fry recipe (it's free on the internet) before you buy his cookbooks …and you will not buy his cookbooks. Cowboy nostalgia and pretty pictures with bad recipes don't make a good cookbook …it needs good recipes stupid! BobBR
Kent is a very fascinating guy with a fascinating life. As such, expect to find much more than just great recipes. He has lots of neat little anecdotes, jokes and experiences of life on the trail as a Cookie. For those who don't know the old west definition of a Cookie, they're so much more than just a trail cook: they set up tents, they built the fires, they served as a field nurse, psychotherapist, etc. Kent lived the life, and I'm sure that's not even half of what he's experienced. Although I was a little disappointed to see some cut corners using boxed mixes *whomp-whommmp*. But then again, who has time to thresh the wheat and milk the cows these days? haha😅 I'm very satisfied with this purchase and one day, I hope to meet him and Shannon and I can get this book signed! 💖🤩💖Lydia
Beautifully written and illustrated book full of recipes from the trail. The photos are amazing and the stories between the recipes are wonderful, but the recipes are drool making. I bought this book after seeing a YouTube of the author. I loved the video and I felt drawn in and appreciated and the book does the same thing. Kent Rollins translates well onto the page.lonely*lady

Reviews:
This is not one of those fun "Wild West" cowboy books. It has 600 illustrations, but they are of a technical nature. It offers sober advice on the work tasks a cowboy must perform. I am reading the chapter on breaking horses right now and certainly would hesitate to run out and try any of this stuff. But for someone with experience, or the researcher who wants to have accurate information for stories, this book is great. Originally published in the 1950s, I expect that it shows techniques that haven't changed much since the olden days. A horse is still a horse, a cow is a cow.starspangle

Reviews:
Love this author. I wait impatiently for her next book, Yes Impatiently, that was not a miss-type. This is one of the best collections I have read. In the eight Novellas she revisits many of my favorite characters. You know you are over the top when you can't wait to talk to your daughter about the latest escapade of these characters, as if they are relatives. If you have read anything by Mary, you know her novels are well written, fast passed and laugh out loud funny. She has such a great wit and wonderful one liners. Her novels are also full of very tender moments. Quote from The Sweetwater Bride, I love you Tanner, That's why when your pa said you left—– The sun dimmed and the birds quit singing. The trees wept and the wind turned cold. I knew you'd gone out of my life. Mary has a wonderful way of picking you up and planting you back into the late 1800's, before you even realize what's happened. Hope for Christmas was a pleasant surprise. It was written as a modern day novella. A story of the great, great, great grandson of the first Harden family. If you were to ask me which novella was my favorite, I would have to say the one I am reading right now. Don't miss out, read Calico and Cowboys, Purchase one for a friend who loves western romance novels.
The Calico and Cowboys Romance Collection: is eight novellas and boy I hate that. What I especially do I hate is that they are novellas, I wish each and every one of them were novels or longer stories. They were so very incredible when I read the first one and was touched and loved it so much I thought the rest could not be come patible with that, but boy howdy was I wrong. They each were as good or even better. You have a teacher who needs a student's Dad she is tutoring the son. There is a Rancher who sees a lady with the children on the ranch. You have a Rancher who has a mail order bride who after the wedding springs a major surprise on him. The next one is about a widower who is a homesteader. The next one is about a doctor and his nemesis being trapped what happens? You have to read the book The next one is about a business owner who falls for his adopted cousin. One is when Silas rescues a pregnant Kelsey. Why was she out in the storm pregnant? These and many questions need to be answered and the only way to find them is to read the book. I received this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.joyful
The Calico and Cowboys and Romance Collection by Mary Connealy This is eight romance novellas all in one book. Connealy has a spunky, fun writing style. Many of these novellas are related in one way or another, which make for fun reading. -The Advent Bride – A story about a school teacher, widowed father and hurting son. There is really not a lot of detail in the romance department in this novella, but it is full of misunderstanding, love, learning with a touch of romance. -A Bride Rides Herd – We find a beautiful woman, Betsy, in need of some help. Matt is only open to helping her on the ranch. There is much to be done on a ranch with three busy little girls, and no cowhands. There is humor, laughter and romance in this novella. -His Surprise Family – This is a mail order bride type book. When Meg neglects to tell the whole truth and Si uncovers it will their marriage be doomed before it really begins. This novella is full of getting to know each other, hard times, family and romance. Homestead on the Range – I love the chemistry between Elle and Colin in this novella, Sometimes when the children out number the adults things get interesting real quick. Sophie's Other Daughter – This was a fun novella full of surprises, some mystery, and of course romance. I loved the sparks between Laura and Ike. Their families have unique characters as well that make for some fun reading. The Sweetwater Bride – This is a fun novella with some interesting animals involved. This novella takes place before His Surprise Family. Debba is a unique lady with some unusual behavior, Tanner really only wants what is best for her even if his ways are a little unusual. Texas Tea – This novella brings a couple families we have already met in this collection together. Luke is a free spirited man, Libby is content with her lot in life. Even though they have grown up as cousins, (which truly they are not) the years have come and gone and the attraction is there. When Luke must prove himMarilyn
