Reviews:
Please note–the picture is of the newer publication of this book and not the 1994 printing. It is, however, a good purchase for homeschooling parents as it tells everything you should be teaching your children. I would have given 5 stars except for the fact the inside content is not as nice as the newer printings and it's not as user friendly as some of the others. I would, however, recommend it as it's very helpful to have.saturnpancakes

Reviews:
This book was old and dingy looking. I was embarrassed to give it to my granddaughter.morris79395
My son was so excited to receive book and I loved seeing him with his nose in a book.shearm1351
I accidentally read the "Fudge" series out of order. This is the first in the series of books Judy Blume writes about a boy named Peter and his annoying (but hilarious) little brother nicknamed Fudge. I ended up reading this book after reading most of the other Fudge books, which thankfully didn't make that much of a difference. I thoroughly enjoyed "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing." The main character, Peter, is struggling with being the older brother to a little boy who drives him nuts. The interacting dialog between all the characters is wonderfully well written. I remember saying and thinking things just like Peter when I was his age. The way Blume has perfectly captured the mindset of a fourth grader makes for enjoyable reading for kids and adults as well. I sat there laughing out loud at so many of Peter's and Fudge's experiences and conversations. Overall, I just love the fun and innocence of this book. It takes me back to my childhood and I relive some happy memories, and it also helps me remember the mindset of my own children.ilovetowrite00

Reviews:
"The Daring Book for Girls" is a breath of fresh air. With all the technology, advertising and glitz surrounding a modern childhood, a book which carries within its covers the trade secrets of old-fashioned fun is a marvel for any young girl. How to make a friendship bracelet, how to row a canoe or build a clubhouse, how to care for your softball glove, how to start up a lemonade stand, how to be a spy and famous women spies throughout history. And many more tidbits geared for girls, but not presented in a girly-girl manner. My daughter expressed an interest in this at the library. She will now have her own reference copy for reading at night, under the covers, with a flashlight!satgsaler
If you, or your daughter would love to learn how to make all kinds of things then this book is for you! Learn the ancient technique of folding tshirts, how to make a peach pit ring, basic karate moves, yoga positions, etc. Some people say this book is complicated because the pictures aren't real detailed, and neither are the instructions. But I beg to differ!!! Being patient is key with this book, but you must be patient to learn the different things anyway (with or without the book). All in all it's a fun book to read, and try new things with. Fantastic present for any girl, or woman.tigershep
Awesome book for youth to read and learn from!! Even boys can learn new skills now that Boy Scouts is not helping guide the future men of our world!patrnie-75

I don’t want me third grader reading about “eating disorders”, throwing up, panic attacks, anxiety , bullying, puberty, and seeing a therapist. I don’t know how it has so many stars and other parents are ok this being put into a young mind. Back it goes . The other books talk about kissing , spin the bottle and teen drama. 3rd grader does not need to read about this kind of stuff. Their minds are impressionable and need to focus on positive thingsBatgirl
My daughter has been wanting this book for awhile. Just gave it to her last night and she finished it within a few hours. She loves reading and couldn’t put it down.contuttoilcuore

I am Azrin, a girl who likes Astronomy, stars, the moon, and outer space. The book is very interesting yet a bit boring, though I still love it! I haven't finished reading yet but the book is either way very amazing. It has all of my interests and is very entertaining. I'm only 9 but can still read non-picture books. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes stars, space, and frightening adventure.mias_63
I absolutely love this book! It seems that I can't ever put it down and must know more about Xan and Luna. As I continue to read I can only hope that Luna and the carpenter are going to be able to put the Protectorate right. That the witch isn't really wicked and in fact saves the children from the strange ritual the village does.MARRIANA
I bought this for my great niece who loves everything moon related. She was elated and couldn’t wait to read it.redreadinghood
11. Rain Reign [Book]

Product Details:
From newbery honor author ann m. martin, who wrote the baby-sitters club series, comes a new york times-bestselling middle grade novel about a girl, her dog, and the trials of growing up in a complicated and often scary world. rose howard is obsessed with homonyms. she's thrilled that her own name is a homonym, and she purposely gave her dog rain a name with two homonyms (reign, rein), which, according to rose's rules of homonyms, is very special. not everyone understands rose's obsessions, her rules, and the other things that make her different—not her teachers, not other kids, and not her single father. when a storm hits their rural town, rivers overflow, the roads are flooded, and rain goes missing. rose's father shouldn't have let rain out. now rose has to find her dog, even if it means leaving her routines and safe places to search. “a story about honorable living in the autistic narrator genre that sets the bar high. . . . martin has penned a riveting, seamless narrative in which each word sings and each scene counts.” —kirkus reviews, starred reviewthis title has common core connections.

Reviews:
Not as many illustrations as I would've liked to see. Many many many pages in a row with no pictures, which was very disappointing. Even small illustrations would've made a world of a difference. The illustrations that were done though were wonderful. We all know the story is perfect. So we buy these books for the illustrations and disappointed in how many pages did not contain them. Still collectors should buy.Red
These illustrated hard bound books are very high quality and the illustrations and design details on every page are stunning. These are not normal reading books where you can lay in bed and read. They are big and heavy, more like a coffee table book. My daughter loves to follow along in this version while we read to her from the normal paperback version in bed at night. It's been a big hit in our house. The text is the same as the normal paperback version of the novels.DarbyV
I just picked up this book yesterday to add to the boxed set of books 1-3 that is being shipped directly to me. Guys- the pictures are BEAUTIFUL and the book itself is heavy and feels important (remember the old school encyclopedia britannica books? it feels like that!). My 5 year old was immediately drawn to the pages and wanted to start it right away. Yes, my book also had a 20% off sticker on the front. I was able to very easily peel it off without any damage to the book. If you buy in store, double check the website price first – web price was 12 cheaper than in-store, but I was able to get a price match to their online price.akstevie

Reviews:
This is a wonderful book I would have wanted to have while growing up. My six year old daughter loves this book. Every time we finish a story she wants to know more (we have already books on several of these amazing women). Every day she runs to get the book when she returns from school. It's a great resource for parents who would like to raise future empowered women. Through each story a mother can pass on to their daughters values of justice, equality, hard work, self trust, self worth and how capable we all are to follow our dreams and be unique. However there is one constructive criticism I would like to make regarding one of the stories. I was quite surprised to find Eva Perón as a role model and making it in a short list like this and frankly feel very uncomfortable with the way she is portraid in the book. I was born and raised in Venezuela and understand quite well Latin American politics. Eva Perón should not be in that book as her legacy of populism is one that has been repeated in other countries and that has had terrible consequences in Latin Amrica in the past decades. She was undoubtedly powerful but not necessarily good. Why not be safe and choose someone more influential and stronger in spirit and kindness like Mother Theresa? Finding Eva Perón or the choice of a couple of pirates instead of valuable women was disconcerting and made me doubt of the accuracy in the portrayal of some of the women listed. Also as mentioned in the another review the title could be re-thought as to make it easily accessible to boys as well. Closing in a positive note I was very pleased to see also many Italian women in the list having lived there for 5 years and coming from a half Italian family. I consider this a beautifully diverse list of inspiring women that lived before us or are still alive leading us through their courage in other parts of the world and helping us become better in what ever our field and life path is. Good job to the authors! Thinking to buy 10 copies to give to my nieces and close friends (However will do so with certain notes of caution).Norangela R.
I bought this book for my daughter so she can be inspired by amazing women and what they've accomplished. Hidden in this book, little did I know, is a page about a transgender child. No warning. This is a terrible way to sneak past parents and "educate" children about topics they are not ready for. I can no longer buy books for my children without reading EVERY single page. There needs to be a warning for parents, because not all children are ready or can understand these topics.Mamato4
Thank you for this effort and mission! I sincerely appreciate it. I am buying this for my daughter and son and giving it to several other families with boys and girls because it is important for all people to consider the power of motivation and these stories seem to be wonderful depictions of what motivation can help you accomplish. I want children to have books that have stories about all kinds of successful, adventurous, caring, loving people. HOWEVER, I think this title of this book is defeating the mission of it. To be a successful or extraordinary women should not be equated to being a rebel, although I understand the rationale for the use of the world rebel; Throughout history, it was considered rebellious behavior for women to do anything besides care for the home and people in it. But, using the term rebel continues to give weight to that old world view and perspective. let's change the rhetoric and stop equating the actions of strong smart women to being rebellious.Andrea

My daughter took a long time starting to read these. She says she enjoys them, but to me, it didn't seem that they kept her attention the way her rescue princess books did. But that might just be because I bought them for her rather than her 'super cool auntie'. I have not read them myself yet, but they seemed cute to me.deesselisa
My daughter saw these books on TV and said "Mom I really want these books". Naturally I immediately ordered them. Since she got them she can't stop reading. I am thankful for these books and her love of reading them. They really hold her interest. Momma MelendezHannahLeigh528

This is such a great read and I wanted a copy for my granddaughter to read. This was a hard copy in fabulous condition and was really cheap. I was so pleased to find it. It arrived more quickly than I expected and I was pleased in every way.brothersue2012
I originally read Stargirl for a high school and junior high school event that encompasses many area schools at our local college. I loved the character of Stargirl and all that she stands for. Her freedom to really be herself and enjoy her uniqueness is a message we can all learn from. Most of my students enjoyed it and were able to relate, on some level, to the main character or to Leo, her boyfriend. Leo continues to struggle with how much he enjoys Stargirl's differences but also wants her to lose those differences and conform to the world around them. This book has a low enough reading level that it should be accessible to most middle school and high school students.patricia1983
There is nothing in this book that I do not love with a passion. Please read it and enjoy Spinelli's amazing character development, symbolism and flare for telling a story that people want to finish. I read this back in 5th grade; I read this in 11th grade; I read this in college. I gave this book to an awesome female friend of mine whom I told reminded me of Stargirl and she loved it. I cannot honestly think of a better-written YA fiction novel out there.jonathandalstad

We use this to supplement my daughter's in-class material. It is absolutely worth the buy.Chelsey
Great as complementary material/additional practice. I love tearing the pages (along the dotted/perforated lines), from different sections, to create little bundles for daily use. Not so great as a single resource (curriculum), as sometimes it makes big skill jumps. High value per cost, it doesn't get any better, and saves me hours of internet browsing/sorting for appropriate materials.Isabel
This curriculum is a very nice one. I have used these curriculums for several years now and highly recommend them.velmacarpenter
