3. The Masters Of Private Equity And Venture Capital [Book]
Product Details:
Ten leading private investors share their secrets to maximum profitability in the masters of private equity and venture capital, the pioneers of the industry share the investing and management wisdom they have gained by investing in and transforming their portfolio companies. based on original interviews conducted by the authors, this book is filled with colorful stories on the subjects that most matter to the high-level investor, such as selecting and working with management, pioneering new markets, adding value through operational improvements, applying private equity principles to non-profits, and much more.
Reviews:
I'm an accountant currently working as a management consultant in the nonprofit sector and I found this is to be an excellent read if you're the kind of person looking to buy and sell businesses through private equity. It provides very valuable practical lessons that you probably won't find in your average text book (and I've read quite a few…). The language is practical and easy to understand but if you don't have experience, training or a background in business you may struggle, it isn't written for the layman. If you're already in business and looking for insight to help you step it to the next level read this book. Note; some chapters are better than others and this is because each one was written by a different business 'expert' and the writing styles are different and relatively speaking, some were more narrative rather than informative but there are business advice gems in all of them whether you're in commercial or nonprofit business.Richard

Reviews:
This is the most simple, easy to read, yet highly informative book on investing I have read. Although it was published over 10 years ago, the information is still relevant. Also, their is a boglehead website that has updates to the book on their forum. The book contains information as vast as all the different types of investments that are available up to tax considerations when buying or selling. The authors are biased towards index investing (as I am leaning towards), so if you are looking for speculative investing in specific stocks, etc., then this book would not be geared to you.gkerrhome09

6. Equity Research For The Technology Investor: Value Investing In Technology Stocks [Book]

9. Financial Modeling For Equity Research: A Step-By-Step Guide To Earnings Modeling And Stock Valuation For Investment Analysis [Book]
Product Details:
From the author: this is not another boring, impossible to read, thousand-page textbook. on the contrary, this is an exciting journey into the world of wall street-style financial modeling. the motivation behind this book comes from my days as a new research analyst, trying to juggle the demands of 80-plus hour work weeks, finra exams, and client meetings, while attempting to learn the basics of modeling. at the time i sought outside educational resources only to find useless classes focused on spreadsheet tricks, or high-level theory-based books with little practical value. what i really needed was someone to sit down, and show me exactly how to build a model, using a real company as an example, from start to finish. now, years after leaving the sell-side rat race, i have written the book that i sought when i was new to the street. the result is a clear, concise, easy to read guide on how to build a three-statement model. the book starts with an introduction to the industry and important background information for new analysts. then, beginning with a blank spreadsheet, the text demonstrates exactly how to build a model using an actual company example. throughout the chapters there are numerous images of the model which highlight key elements, as if i were pointing to a computer screen and explaining it directly to the reader. there are also more than 30 spreadsheets available for download to follow along with the text. after the model is built, i discuss effective ways to use it for forecasting and share valuation, and demonstrate how to maintain the model over time. i have also included insight from my experience in research, pitfalls to watch for, and frequently asked questions from my research team, to help add color to the subject matter. this book is a self-published, grassroots effort. you will not find a shiny professional cover or expert photographs inside. this book is less what you would expect from a traditional textbook, and closer to an informal conversation between me and the reader. sometimes all you need is to talk to someone who has been there, and that is what you will get between these two covers. ultimately the goal is to have my readers come away from their experience feeling empowered and excited to build an earnings model of their own.

20. Stuck Improving: Racial Equity And School Leadership [Book]
Product Details:
An incisive case study of changemaking in action, stuck improving analyzes the complex process of racial equity reform within k-12 schools. irby emphasizes that racial equity is dynamic, shifting both as our emerging racial consciousness evolves and as racism asserts itself anew. those who accept the challenge of reform find themselves "stuck improving," caught in a perpetual dilemma of both making progress and finding ever more progress to make. rather than seeing it as a failure, irby embraces being stuck as an inextricable part of the improvement process. stuck improving offers a clear-eyed accounting of school-improvement practices, including data-driven instructional approaches, teacher cultural competency, and inquiry-based leadership strategies. this timely work contributes both to the practical efforts of equity-minded school leaders and to a deeper understanding of what the work of racial equity improvement truly entails. "stuck improving is a book that is useful to practitioners and scholars alike, and it is just what the field needs: a practical guide for how to grow equity capacity in organizations at every level. this is a field-shifting book." –muhammad khalifa, professor of educational administration, the ohio state university, and president/ceo, culturally responsive school leadership "i have long been a fan of decoteau irby's work in the areas of equity and dignity for communities, families, and students of color. in stuck improving, he looks at the other side of equity–that of those who work to ensure it. with tremendous implications on research and practice, irby offers a useful framework for racial equity improvement for those on the 'frontlines' of equity to become 'unstuck.'" –noelle w. arnold, senior associate dean, the ohio state university decoteau j. irby is an associate professor in the department of educational policy studies at the university of illinois at chicago. h. richard milner iv is the cornelius vanderbilt endowed chair of education at vanderbilt university, as well as the editor for the race and education series.
