1. Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Parts By

Reviews:
Me and my husband are big HP fan. I have read and watch all the books and movies multiple times. It our Christmas tradition to watch all movies together. I like how tiny details they covered in this book. I wish this had been a movie or a series on some streaming service. I want more adventures in Wizarding world of HP.krish.k
I’ve always loved Harry Potter. I’ve been reading the books and watching the films since I was a little girl. I finally got around to reading The Cursed Child a couple of weeks ago. Not sure why I put it off so long. It was a good read for the sake of nostalgia, but was no where near as good as the original series. The characters were very different than how we’ve come to know them. Their behavior was very off for most of them. I know that they would grow and change some as they moved from children to adulthood but some of them seemed like completely new characters we’d never met before. Overall a quick entertaining read for any Hogwarts alumni, but it quite the same stories we grew up with.
I've been a Harry Potter fan since I was 4 yrs old, and I absolutely loved reading "the eighth book" at last! I bought it yesterday, couldn't put it down all day, and just finished reading it today! It is spectacular to a highly magical degree, and as I live too far from New York City to ever hope to see the play live, I am immensely grateful that the official script is available to buy online. Thank you so much, J. K. Rowling, for allowing people such as myself to experience the magic without having to travel great distances and pay money for tickets we may never be able to afford to see Cursed Child performed live on stage. Who knows? Maybe someday they'll make it a movie, or something more accessible, but for the meantime, I am very happy with the script and my own imagination, fueled by my never-ending adoration for J. K. Rowling and her magical, wonderful world of Harry Potter!hydee grace.v

Reviews:
These books are exquisite. I am so happy to own the first 2 and can't wait for the next 5 to be released. These books are an amazing addition to any Harry Potter collection. I do not recommend these books for children as the interactive pages are extremely delicate. What else can I say other than that I'm ready to dive in and reread the chamber of secrets for the umpteenth time.
I’ve been collecting the other version of the illustrated Harry Potter books and I like them but wasn’t in love with them. I ordered the two that are out so far in these and I’m absolutely in love. The illustration and fun interactive pages are just amazing. It definitely makes reading the books less intimidating to my kids. I will buy all the books of this collection as they come out.MomOf2FL
I love this series because it grows with the reader. The collection becomes more advanced and has more pages. Its a very good story filled with good clean fun and adventure allowing the reader to escape this current world for a couple hours to join Harry on his journey at hogwarts and battling the people who led to his parents death.tianna.s

Reviews:
It's taken me a while to jump on the "Harry Potter Illustrated" wagon, but here I am, and I'm so glad I took the leap. What lead me to buy this book was not only the great price that Booktopia always offers, but I wanted to introduce my 6 year old to the series. I grew up reading these books and they were an integral part of my growing up and to have the illustrated version meant that I could also acquaint my daughter to the series in a fun way – through looking at pictures as well as reading the story! Perfect. Job done. What I wasn't expecting was the incredibly beautiful and intricate artwork that Jim Kay has included – I did not anticipate a level this high. I've always loved the magic of Harry Potter, but this has reinstated my affection of the characters I grew up with, and the backdrop of stunning imagery is a delightful bonus. Hail Jim Kay and hail Bloomsbury for keeping the magic alive. Bravo!Kirsty
Not what I ordered at all, I only purchased this edition because it stated it was a hardback book in the description! Not only that the cover is completely different! I feel completely mislead. It also came a little damaged.Jess

Beautiful cover. I've read the book several times now.iwagro1
Maria B

Reviews:
Absolutely love these illustrated versions of the Harry potter books. This is the second one we have. I don't like reading the plain text books because I'm not a fan of the layout, not child friendly. But these illustrated books are a joy to read with my son. It's brought us closer because he can talk about Harry potter with me and I can read him the stories at night, which I didn't want to do with the original books.
This book really brings the magical world of Harry Potter to life in a whole new way for a whole new generation. The illustrations are gorgeous and accompany the story perfectly. I cannot wait to one day read these editions to my children.Esha
I bought this for my great-nephew because I heard that he wanted it for Christmas. I already had a copy. I love these books and they're even better with Jim Kay's illustrations. Thank you for selling these beautifully illustrated books at a reasonable price.Avid Potter fan

Reviews:
I will start with my 2 small issues. First, the adhesives they used changed over the books. Nothing tore any of the prints but the added sort of glue stick on the bottom of some were unnecessary & don’t come off. Second, you need to package them better for shipping. My box had a hole & my book box has a few messed up corners. Not a big deal but when you get collectibles with a beautiful box meant to hold the set you expect it to be in new condition! I love the books, the prints & the many photos. I love the content & the design of the book spines, the box & the coloring of it all. I am setting up a reading nook in our house that is all HP & this fits in so nicely. Target had the best price by far & then offered a military discount too which made this set a great deal! This will make an excellent companion to the Film Wizardry I have.Dani
This thing is the best I got it for my son and he loves it!Pennieboy

Sadly not in 'very good condition' as described. Cover faded, scratched, dirty, with a hole in spine on back, and book was missing seven of its inserts which are key to using the book. On the plus side Wob did respond quickly to my complaint and refunded me. I added an extra star for this.Sue M.

Going to see the exhibit in a few weeks and wanted to familiarize myself with the details beforehand. The book is well organized and very interesting. Links history of magic across cultures.and continents and it's influence on JK Rowling. Highly recommend!Luna18
A great book. Hermione mentions the book "a history of magic" a few times in the book and now you get to read it! It's everything a Harry Potter fan could ask for!JACEY

For those children (and adults) who have been craving JK Rowling's magical touch since last year's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the wait is finally over: Rowling's new book, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, is published today. As every Potter-fanatic will tell you, this book played a key role in the conclusion of the Deathly Hallows. Professor Dumbledore bequeathed this collection of fairy tales compiled by a 15th-century bard the wizard world's equivalent of the Grimm brothers to Hermoine, with the hope that she would find it "entertaining and instructive". Later she reads out from it "The Tale of the Three Brothers", a fable about what happens to those who try to cheat Death. This tale and four others are now brought together in a short book, which was published in a limited edition last year. As an added bonus this edition contains the notes of Professor Dumbledore himself, whose annotations, Rowling informs us in her introduction, were found among his papers in the Hogwarts Archives. In the first story, "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot", a kindly old wizard makes potions to solve the problems of all his neighbours even the muggles. After he dies, he passes his "lucky cooking pot" onto his son who proves less generous with his spells. Soon the pot becomes plagued with "hungry slugs" and horrible odours that will remain until he does the right thing. A later tale, "The Warlock's Hairy Heart", draws on a similar kind of symbolism. A fearsome wizard hides his heart in an enchanted crystal casket, so that he can pursue his worldly ambitions without the encumbrance of love. One day he decides to restore it to his chest, but by this time it has grown so shrunken and hairy that it cannot temper his violent instincts. Older children and adults will probably enjoy Dumbledore's notes (which make up about half of the book) as much as the stories themselves. Commenting on "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot", he says that previous editors of such tales often bowdlerised the text. One Beatrix Bloxam (1794-1910) was horrified as their "unhealthy preoccupations with the most horrid subjects, such as death, disease, bloodshed, wicked magic, unwholesome characters and bodily effusions and eruptions of the most disgusting kind". Bloxam tidied up the tales in order to protect the "precious flower" of "children's innocence". No one ever read those versions, notes Dumbledore, in a sharp response to Rowling's more priggish critics. "The Fountain of Fair Fortune" is the blandest tale in the book. Three witches and a knight set off on a quest for a fountain that will cure their ills; as ever, though, it turns out that the journey is more important than the destination. The notes to this story, concerning a theatrical adaptation of this tale at Hogwarts, will please only the hardcore fans. "Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump" is a variation of "The Emperor's New Clothes", except that the king in this story pretends to be able to perform magic. Those who know their Harry Potter will turn straight to the notes of the final tale, "The Tale of the Three Brothers". Dumbledore mentions that the legend of three brothers who cheated Death and were rewarded with an unbeatable wand, a stone that brings the dead to life and an Invisibility Cloak, might have an element of truth in it. At this point all Potter fans will be shouting out loudly in response.lollipop5jellybean5
Got this for my grandson for Christmas, I have never seen him so excited to receive a book as he thought it was only in the film. Good value and has encouraged him to read instead of using technology, would definitely recommend to all potterheads.kaeccl_60

The summary/synopsis of this book is amazing. I had to have it, but it doesn't even get remotely interesting until page 400. Even then the book wasn't good. The main character was just annoying. She let the lead male obsess and become over protective. If you want to read about an over protective vampire and a lackluster main female character – grab this book and sink in to 600 pages of snoozefest. I don't know why everyone was ranting and raving about how amazing this book was. I'm shocked. Just no.kgil8280
I have not watched A Discovery Of Witches, but after reading this adventure, I don't feel I need too. Harkness takes you into another world all on her own. This is definitely a page turn with an amazing plot and memorable characters. I couldn't put it down! Love Love LoveBec and Books
I know, I know – the plot sounds good. That's why I bought it! Unfortunately, what could have been a good story all but disappears under the weight of bad writing. Basically, this book is a really pretentious version of Twilight, with adult Oxford academics instead of high school teens. That in itself wouldn't be a bad thing, if someone was in the mood for trashy supernatural romance. However, the writing!!! The writing. Everything is completely overwritten. Harness doesn't seem to be able to tell what she should leave out. Nobody needs to read, in minute detail, what the main character wears every morning, and everything she does all day, even on days where nothing happens to advance the story. Nobody needs to know every single pose of the weird yoga class, or every shot of a billiards game, or each individual step of making and drinking a cup of tea every time the main character has one (which is often). Maybe because everything is told in such tedious detail, the main character feels dull and irritating. The male romatic lead is also uninspiring, in a vaguely sexist, controlling, "protective because supernatural instincts" way. The romance is flat, the plot doesn't get enough attention, and the writing is a chore to wade through. It's not the worst book in the world, but I can't recommend buying this. Borrow it from a library, if you really want to read it.Nyx

Ana M.
