My wife loves The author David Baldacci. She has over 30 of his books now!mchittum54
I am a fairly recent Baldacci convert and this one delivered it's usual quality fare. He does seem to have an unusual penchant for telling the reader EXACTLY what everyone in the book is wearing !! but other than that he is a very good thriller writer. The content of this book was fairly graphic at times and I did build up a healthy hatred of the Butcher of Kiev, Fedir Kuchin. You could almost taste Reggie Campions desire to end his life. Shaw was his usual manly aggressive self but did show some signs of a softer, caring person. Overall ? I enjoyed this book and I do love Baldacci's style of short chapters – never been one for 30 pages before a break !10stanhope

Reviews:
Oliver Stone is back. And the same things he encountered while an operative in the service of the US as John carr, are still alive and well, though perhaps not for him, personally. Oliver sticks with it, though, in spite of the misinformation, deceit, and outright lies he has to work with. His trusted Camel Club deserves an ovation, too, for the way they can be trusted to protect and defend Stone. The relational bonds formwd over their years of pioneering justice around the US actually serve to run interference from the dark forces working to eliminate their leader. With the combined effort of each member's particular skillset, the truth is uncovered, although, at times, it appears the federal departments with egg on their faces, intentionally don't share. Oliver and his friends, along with a British agent assigned with Stone to solve the case, risk life and limb to reveal the source of the threat. The enemy is one of those vetted by a federal agency, who over time has endured the instability of her work. So, she trusts noone, and she decides to set up her own retirement program. Ultimately, the real threat is one that has existed since creation: selfish greed. And the real surprise? Greed trumps personal affection and respect. This culprit will do anything to determine her own destiny!turbobruce
This is the best of the Camel Club books in my opinion. The book is seamless until near the end in keeping up the tension and Baldacci's writing seems to get better with every new book. The characters are well drawn and some of the old stalwarts of the Camel Club fit into previous profiles. The only downer is the endings, but in this case it is the fight at the end that does not have the same quality as the rest of the book. Having said this, this is still a damn good read and perfect reading for the wet weather we are getting now. If the ratings allowed half stars I would give this book 4.5 stars. It would be better for the novice Camel Club reader to go back and follow this series from the beginning.colin111
I liked the book, but then I like all of David Baldacci's books. I enjoy murder mysteries, but I'm particular in that I don't want to read filthy language or a book with explicit sex scenes or any Satanic plots. David Baldacci's books are ideal. They have a great plot, great characters and I can enjoy reading them without fear of coming across any horrible language. Hell's Corner was a great read! The plot was interesting and kept me on my toes. It has intrigue, good character development and brings back old friends from some of David's other books. The Camel Club rides again!77lucy0529

Reviews:
Another great story, nail biting in places. I have read between 25 and 30 of Baldacci's novels, and am never disappointed. I think Memory Man is still the one that intrigued me the most. I have read all of that series to date. I am an 83 year old woman who has loved reading since I first learned to read. In this novel I had some problems keeping the myriad of characters straight, plus the interweaving of two investigators working on two cases. Also, I am a Blue Star Mother, so I enjoy the military aspects in many of the novels.David
To begin with, each of the 3 in this 4 book series can be read alone..but you don't want to. David Baldacci has done a superb job of creating a mystery that you want to know the answers to:. Is MERCY alive, and if so where is she??? A sisters search for her missing sibling takes her through one adventure followed by another..and the findings leave her more fearful that her sister missing over 30 years is dead, and then a new finding keeps her in the search, because maybe…just maybe..sanmcfe-0
5. A Minute To Midnight [Book]
Product Details:
Reviews:
I read all of David Baldacci's books, and I like the Atlee Pine character. Baldacci is masterful at developing his characters, and helps the reader to see their strengths and flaws as a complex and complicated narrative of the character. This book, in particular, had a lot of "moving parts," with a lot of different characters and their relationship to Agent Pine…especially Eddie. I pride myself in figuring out "who done it," but never did see the end of this story line coming. A true cliff hanger…I'm looking forward to the continuing story of Agent Pine, Jack Lineberry, and searching for the truth of Pine's mother and sister. I have read every book Baldacci has written and I think this is his best to date (and he's had a lot of great books), and one that has me checking to see when the next installment will arrive. Excellent read!Dee
Good, fast read. Started with his first Atlee Pine mystery and was hooked. This was the second in the series and fast paced from the outset with a nice twist at the end. Reading Daylight now and anxious to see how that one ends. Have been a fan of David Baldacci for a while, he doesn't disappoint.Kim
Love Baldacci! His stories take twists and turns like an old country mountain road at night. Never know what's ahead.MARIE

Another great book by David Baldacci; his research and knowledge makes a fabulous read as always!polly01484
What a great crime/mystery writer is Baldacci. This latest book is No.7 in the Amos Decker series which is one of the best characters in crime fiction I have encountered. Once you start on this series you can't stop, it's that good. Start at the first book 'Memory Man' & work your way through them, you won't be disappointed. I first started this series when diagnosed with cancer & it certainly has helped me take my mind off it & aid my recovery. I can't wait until the next instalment.Alby
I love David Baldacci, and can't decide which series/characters I like the best, but Amos Decker is definitely up there. Without spoiling the story, the fact that characters from another series appeared in this book is really exciting. The mixture of personalities was great and very unexpected. As usual, nothing is as it seems with these stories, and the way it unfolds and develops is gripping. My only complaint would be I couldn't put it down and finished it in a day. Now to wait for the next instalment. . .Fanny-Ann

Reviews:
When he dropped like a Stone for the literal cliffhanger ending of the third Camel Club novel I couldn't wait for it to be (and prayed that it would be)continued. Baldacci did not disappoint. His elderly super-spy led readers on another whirlwind adventure with twists that turned the pages and the mind. I wish these characters could keep on forever, but when they get as old as this one we are certain to lose them. However, as a swan song this is excellent. However if you are not an incurable romantic like myself this may not be your cup of espresso. I will be rereading this one with pleasure.evesdropping
This book is the first one i have read by David Baldacci and by the looks of it it won't be the last. There are intense bursts of action and suspense. Right when you think you have things all figured out they take and often unexpected turn. This book takes you into the chaotic life of John Carr whose alias is Oliver Stone. After Stone had completed the task of assassinating two government officials who ordered a hit on Stone and his family and had succeeded except for Stone he ends up in an immense manhunt where he ends up in the innocent town of Divine VA or so he thought. While the man tracking him down learns more and more about him being a phenomenal soldier and war hero in vietnam he wonders which he feels more for the man respect or fear.RJ Schmidt

I read the Camel Club & didn't realise it was the first of 5 books that David Baldacci had written in the series. Each one follows on in what becomes a fantastic story, you just get deeper into Oliver's & the others in the Camel Club's world, one of honour, country, betrail & so much more. Any one of the 5 novels is so hard to put down, I've just started the last book & it is straight into the action, great read.mondeomangreg

Reviews:
I’m a big Ruth Ware fan and she has thrown me for a loop with past reads but, this one was predictable from the start. There was plenty of alluding to the culprit’s past hardships endured and why the triggers occurred but, barely any context or closure there…in fact it was a bit scattered between abuse at home and bullying outside of it. No elaboration just touch and go glimpses of the past. For me it felt a bit open ended and a more gradual, strung out reveal than I’m accustomed to with these sort of books. I’ll say what was intended to be the big bombshell was predictable there was plenty of intrigue and sprinkles of surprises to keep me interested.blueridgebookworm
And Then There Were None + The Guest List 10 current/former employees of a booming UK music app startup (for those of you from the States, think Silicon Valley yuppies) decide to take a holiday at a French chalet to make the biggest decision of their lives. When an avalanche hits, they and the two workers start to see what lies in the heart of (wo)men.. I enjoyed this book. It's my first Ruth Ware (and won't be my last). What would have made it a 5-star for me was structuring the book a bit differently so that it wasn't obvious from before the halfway point "whodunit." I don't want to say much more than that for spoilers, but I think you'll see when you get there. I did love the way she fleshed out the characters, and the way she opened each chapters. Buy this for yourself or someone looking for a no -so-cozy mystery. If you're twisted, get it for someone about to go on their first ski trip.EyesBiggerThanMyShelves
What could have been better? I wish there was more character development with the leading ladies Erin and Liz. I also found that it went into familiar tropes of a women in thrillers. And I think the jump of behavior was not believable, and if given a little back story I would have liked it more. Going on, there were a lot of stereotypes packed in and I wasn’t wild for it and the last few chapters were predictable. What I enjoyed? I did enjoy hearing all the characters interact and the premise of the book with the startup and all the different relationships between the people there. I think the person reading the audio did an excellent job. It had an interesting plot and was entertaining in a lot of ways and I felt suspense throughout since it was an against the clock book. Did I enjoy this overall? Yes. Am I glad I got it from Libby instead of buying? Also yes. I would suggest this if you like against the clock thrillersjordyn.w
