2. I Am A Church Member – Discovering The Attitude That Makes The Difference – Thom S. Rainer – Hardback
Product Details:
Best-selling author and ministry leader thom s. rainer drew an exceptional response when he posted a 500-word declaration about church membership to his daily blog. "i am a church member" started a conversation about the attitudes and responsibilities of church members — rather than the functional and theological issues — that previous new member primers all but ignored. thoughtfully expanded to book form, i am a church member begins to remedy the outbreak of inactive or barely committed church members, addressing without apology what is expected of those who join a body of believers. when a person's attitude is consistently biblical and healthy, matters of giving, serving, and so forth will fall into place more naturally. six intentional chapters with study questions guide this rising discussion: 1. i will be a unifying church member 2. i will not let the church be about my preferences and desires 3. i will pray for my church leaders 4. i will lead my family to be healthy church members 5. i will be a functioning member 6. i will treasure church membership as a gift

I think so far its helped me a lot and also some other of his books can help you realize your mistakes and fix them. Always trust in god for Satan has his ways to manipulate you and some of them are: he starts with fear, then anxiety which leads to depression then anger combined with stress Satan likes to see us suffer and worry and be unfaithful and sin. I advise you to watch what you say for when you say some things he learns how to defeat you. don't just say anything out loud for before you say it he knows nothing and once you say it he knows how to defeat you. Hopefully PPL get this message and follow it. IM still a teenager and i encourage you to know god when you are still you for if you have God you have everything.AN
7. Men And Women In The Church: Building Consensus On Christian Leadership [Book]
Product Details:
Evangelicals stand divided in their view of women in the church. on one side stand complementarians, arguing the full worth of women but assigning them to differing roles. on the other side stand egalitarians, arguing that the full worth of women demands their equal treatment and access to leadership roles. is there a way to mend the breach and build consensus? sarah sumner thinks there is. avoiding the pitfalls of both radical feminism and reactionary conservatism, she traces a new path through the issues–biblical, theological, psychological and practical–to establish and affirm common ground. arguing that men and women are both equal and distinct, sumner encourages us to find ways to honor and benefit from the leadership gifts of both. men and women in the church is a book for all who want a fresh and hope-filled look at a persistent problem.
Reviews:
Really enjoyed reading this book! Sarah, the author, really challenged my thinking and preconceived beliefs about the role of women in the church; which were mainly based off of what I was taught rather than what I studied for myself in the Bible. I 100% recommend this book to any man or woman. Enjoy!joy.c
This book comes from a women who has lived through what she is talking about and flourished in spite of the conflict. She has a personal view from the other side of the camp and yet seems to have an objective outlook in spite of this. These are just two of the strengths that the author brings to the book. She is a women who is very learned and had teachers who come from the conservative side. She when interacting with them and with her life made them seemingly compromise to their beliefs and live out practically what made sense to them. These familiar names and their comments are a strength that would silence many people who would cry foul without thinking about the content of the book. These names make it so that the reader has to pay attention because these men whom they hold in renowned have been a part of the authors life. Sarah Sumner has a way of writing that is very persuasive. She is someone who obviously has put a lot of time and thought into the topic. Her telling of her personal story throughout the book keeps the readers attention and allows them to follow her journey from conservative to where she is now. Along the way many will travel the same path with her at steps and find their beliefs challenged in ways that they do not expect. This is excellent thought provoking writing that allows Sarah to say many things that are challenging and yet still hold her audience because of the curiosity that they have of how someone who was conservative could come to the point that she is now got there. Her experiences and reasons for doing so are probably the biggest strength to this book. I feel that a weakness of this book is how Dr. Sumner deals so much with the past and how the Church has treated women throughout history. This dwelling on the past does not make a point to me as a man. It just keeps hitting me in the head after I have already accepted the fact. She also spends a lot of time talking about what she perceives as the real problem. I agree that there is most likely an underlying reason for most of why women have been treated as they have in the past. The problem is that she needs to spend more time on the Scriptural aspect in my opinion. I do not feel that she came to any conclusions when she went to the Scriptures and in fact only muddied the water to throw doubt into the matter. This is the position that one takes when they do not have a strong enough case to win on their own. They attack the other side. This was done very verbosely, but it only threw doubt into my mind. It did not change my mind in any way.cfgaj

20. The Strategically Small Church: Intimate, Nimble, Authentic, And Effective [Book]
Product Details:
Brandon o'brien helps pastors and church leaders understand that a smaller church is sometimes better than a big one. he demonstrates the strengths of small congregations, including that today's church "shoppers" want services that are local, personal, and intimate. also, small churches provide space to nurture close relationships across age and lifestyle barriers, and they facilitate a higher level of commitment from laypeople. and small church budgets are often more effective because of greater efficiency. the strategically small church will encourage small-church pastors in their ministries and challenge them to play to their strengths.
Reviews:
This is a book that should be placed in every Pastor's hand…it would even be beneficial for other church leaders such as deacons to read. An excellent resource and encouragement to the Pastor that has felt the pressure of the Numbers Game". This book exposes with grace and understanding the lie that has been fed to so many church leaders. This lie is that success is numerical growth in the church. This has so saturated the religious world that authentic worship and discipleship has been left to the side. In fact many churches are being run dry financially by trying to achieve greatness in number instead of embracing their own identity in Christ. I think this book does a fantastic job of teaching that each church has areas that God has gifted them in and that they should pursue excellence in those areas to best achieve the kingdom work in their area. After reading this book I began to closely look at our own church and the unique gift of fellowship that our church has – our members genuinely care about others they have a servant heart and a desire to see children and families experience the Divine presence of the tender Savior. This book would be an encouragement for any Pastor feeling this pressure or on that is on the edge of being "burned out". Thank you Bethany House for this review copy I truly enjoyed the biblical truths presented within its covers."
It is a part of required reading for my course of study. I know it has to be informative.tmcd9550
