Reviews:
I just now got my book and I started reading some of it and Iβm absolutely in love. The best part about me reading this book is that Iβm about the same age as Anne. You definitely recommend this book for young readers.Amiah
I really enjoyed this read. Anne was a fantastic writer for her age. It was hard to keep telling myself that she was only a teenager. At times it does seem repetitive, but you have to be able to remind yourself that she was writing about her daily activities for a couple of years that did not allow her to leave the confines of the Annex. It was refreshing to see through the minds of a teen during such an emotionally taxing time. The pictures let you envision what they all looked like. I also liked seeing the picture of the building that the Annex was in. This diary was heartbreakingly raw, but beautifully written and easily understood.Kristin
I first read this book in 8th grade English class. From the first page I was drawn into Anne's world. When you read it, it's like she is writing to you. A great read and a clear insight into another time period. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in history. This is about a smart, well-read young girl.Shannon

Reviews:
Loved this book! Each thread, one contemporary and one set in 1791, retained interest and they were well integrated in an intriguing story with 'oh no'/'no way' twists. The earlier thread of the apothecary dispensing poisons so women could dispose of a male mistreating them was not as grim as might be expected and the appendix of customised 'recipes' to do so was wickedly amusing.Lyn J
This book was soo boring! After finally getting to some good parts it was cut off and continued on to the next chapter through another POV. There are three POVβs and it just draggedβ¦ I almost gave up on reading it, but I powered through. Iβd get sleepy every time I was reading, lol. Overall, it was just boring and Iβm glad itβs over.hellothere0
The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner is a dual-timeline novel told from the point-of-view of three women. I found this to be an engaging historical novel. I was transported back to London in 1791 where Nella has a small hidden apothecary shop. Nella catered to women who needed a certain man in their life removed. She only catered to women who wished to harm men. Eliza Fanning arrives one day on behalf of her mistress who needs help taking care of her husband. Eliza is fascinated by Nellas workshop and asks dozens of questions. A friendship of sorts develops between the pair. Caroline Parcewell is in London on what was supposed to be her tenth anniversary trip. The night before departure, Caroline discovered her husband has been cheating on her. She takes the trip to give herself time to think away from home and her husband. Caroline goes mudlarking on her first day and discovers an old blue apothecary bottle in the Thames. Caroline sets out to find out more information on the bottle and where it came from. It was fascinating learning more about an apothecary shop and what it contained. A small amount of an item can be helpful, while a large amount can be deadly. I admit that I enjoyed the historical time-period more than the modern storyline. Personally, the book could have excluded Carolines story and been even better (less repetition too). However, I did like how the three storylines tied together. The Lost Apothecary is a well-written, developed story with great characters and a fabulous, dark atmosphere. It has a spooky quality that I loved. The Lost Apothecary is a dark, mysterious tale that captured my attention and imagination. Sarah Penner created an intriguing debut novel and I look forward to reading Sarah Penners next creation.KrisAndeson

Reviews:
This is one of the my favorite fantasy novels ever! Although some of the author's other books seem much more geared for children, this one doesn't have that over-simplified feel. It's incredibly fast-paced and keeps the reader engaged the whole way through. One hell of an adventure. Very creative, never a dull moment, never feels formulaic. I highly recommend.farronn
I had high hopes for this book. I'd heard Neil Gaiman was an interesting writer…and he IS imaginative. He's technically a GOOD writer, too. Thing is, for me, anyway, the book was just too bizarre. In order to take a literary trip down the rabbit hole, I have to at least care a little bit about the characters I follow down it. I didn't. They weren't interesting to me or relatable. I found the overall assortment of characters to be too twisted and disgusting to engage with, and the world they inhabited was too dismal. And frankly, the book as a whole was just too dull, as well. I am sure for some this book would be a mind opening romp. Just not so much for me.rivendell01
This is one of my favorite Gaiman books. If you're into a dark, gothic, fantasy fairy tale than this is for you. If trying to describe it for some, I'd say it's a mix of Stranger Things (Netflix show) & Bloodborne (video game). A dark city under London full of creatures & certain dangers. It's a must read and a great start if you're interested in starting a Gaiman collection.cwilliams119
9. Anne Of Green Gables: A Graphic Novel [Book]

Reviews:
This book perfectly captures the story and emotions of the original novel. A really beautiful book.fei0131
"Its strange to love a place like you would a person, but I do!" Absolutely beautiful! It's a little daunting picking up a graphic novel retelling of one of my most treasured childhood books but Mariah Marsden captured the essence of the original story with all of the most treasured anecdotes (such as the infamous slate scene with Gilbert Blythe and Anne's failed hair dye attempt) and keeping the original quotes when it feels necessary ("I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.") The illustrations were beautiful and I loved the detail and care that went into them to visually bring the story to life. I highly recommend this to all Anne of Green Gables fan. I already want to pick it up again and flip through my favourite pages.MC
I received an eARC copy of this book from the publisher. Here is my honest review. A thoroughly enjoyable adaptation of a beloved novel. Anne of Green Gables is such a beautifully written story and is so dear to my heart that I wanted to read this…but I was a little hesitant as well. (The new Netflix adaptation of Anne is not a favorite for me). I like my Anne with all her quirks and spunk to retain her positive outlook on life. It's one of her strengths. Marsden did a fabulous job of pulling out the highlights of the book and reworking them into a graphic novel format while retaining some of the beautiful and lyrical language of L.M. Montgomery. It is Anne, and Marilla, and Matthew, and Diana, and Gil, and Josie, and Rachel Lynde that you find in the pages of the original novel. I know these characters and I know this story – that background definitely added to my enjoyment of the book. It's hard to say for sure how someone who hasn't read the novel would experience this, but I imagine that they would find a kindred spirit in Anne and want to read the series. The only reason I didn't give that fifth star was the artwork. I think Thummler did a great job based on my limited exposure to this genre; it is certainly in keeping with the style of other graphic novels I've read. While the background or landscape scenes were lovely, I wished the scenes with the characters would have showcased more of the softness and elegance that I associate with Avonlea, PEI and the time period in general. The novel has a very idyllic feel to me and I didn't feel like all of the artwork captured that.* That is just my personal preference and I still enjoyed this very much! *Not related to this review, but the blurb mentions that Thummler is working on her own graphic novel, which I would pick and read.CL

Reviews:
I suppose I should review the book that I received from Target.com, and I will say that it was in good condition and everything, but the content of this book is the thing that made me love it. Aristotle is one of the most interesting narrators that I have ever read. He's introspective and inscrutable and utterly unique in the world of young adult. He has a Hemmingway-esque way of describing scenes, letting the reader see the scene unfold without commentary. There are entire chapters entirely in dialogue. Not even a "he said." The book begins the summer of his fifteenth year, when he looks out to another lonely year. But Ari isn't the typical narrator. He's a fighter. He has anger. He's alone but likes being alone. Mostly. He isn't the most reliable narrator, but he tells the story of his summer and the years following after he meets his first and best friend, Dante. This story is gentle and jarring in turns. So easy to follow, so grounded in truth and reality. I would reread this story all the time. I loved it.Book Reader
Seriously. It deserves all these awards and more. A moving story about two Mexican-American teenagers in the 80s trying to find themselves when nothing else makes sense. Between the unique character traits and both boys trying to break the stereotypes there's a perfect story. One of my favorite things is that it shows Ari learning about emotions and how to properly deal with them but at first all his emotions are shown as anger. Anyone who knows teenage boys knows how true this is and the fact that the book goes through how to understand other emotions is incredibly important and moving. A must read.BETH
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe tells the story of a young teenage boy named Aristotle, beginning in the summer between his sophomore and junior year of high school. Ari doesn't feel like he has any friends, and he always seems to be angry, yet he doesn't understand why. One day he meets Dante, a boy with a personality that is the complete antithesis of Ari's. Dante is happy and easygoing, he cares deeply about animals, and he is able to make friends everywhere he goes. We follow these two boys through the next year of their life, through happiness and sadness and injury and heartache. Typically I am really not a fan of contemporary novels, but I am so glad that I finally picked up this book. It is a book that celebrates and embraces diversity wonderfully. Benjamin Alire SΓ‘enz has a beautiful, lyrical writing style that made all of the characters seem to jump off the page. The cast of characters felt so real, like normal teenage boys dealing with normal teenage boy worries, while their parents were trying to help them navigate through their teenage years. Something very unique and wonderful about this book is the presence and involvement of the boys' parents in their lives. Healthy family units are very rarely seen in young adult literature, and it was so refreshing to see both of these boys interacting with parents who genuinely cared about what was happening in their sons' lives. These families were not perfect, cookie-cutter households by any means, however. But that is what made their presence so special – the families had problems but they dealt with them together and supported each other. I am so used to reading about teens dealing with their problems all alone due to the absence of any kind of parental figure. Or, if an adult character is present, they are often portrayed as completely useless and not helpful to the teens at all. It was so nice to see parents that actually played a large role in the progression of the story.blamethebooks

πππ πππππ." I'm gonna be honest, I thought Colleen Hoover's books would never be for me. However, the amount of hype It Ends With Us receives made me want to meet the infamous Atlas and Lily. I knew very little about it, I thought I'd hate it… I was very wrong. Colleen Hoover wrote this heavy, intense story so flawlessly, I simply could not put it down. The strength this book carries is unimaginable. It is a story with messages woven within the simplistic style of writing that I don't believe I'll ever forget. Also, Lily Bloom is an unforgettable character, and not just because her name happens to be 'Lily Bloom'. Her strength is incredibly admirable. Aaaaaand, I'm actually wanting to read more CoHo books now – hopefully I'll come across Verity or Ugly Love.Lena
Read this over the weekend because I had Covid and laid in bed all week. Absolutely glad I read it in a weekend, because I would been very upset if I had invested anymore time into it. Truly disappointing read, the story feels force and unnatural. It's not all terrible I rather enjoyed the about the letter to Ellen regarding her interactions with Atlas those feel natural. Everything seems like an exmachina to keep the story going or rather create a story. Don't see how this author could be on NY times best-selling list, really don't see how this books has so much hype. It feels done like I've somehow already read this book, not very original. Which is a shame because I think if the author was aiming for this to be a book about DV she missed the boat. It feels more like a book about lost and found romance than a young woman overcoming and ending the circle of abuse so many women find themselves inpregnanttargetlady
This book is truly a masterpiece! Colleen knows how to grab the readers attention and keep it there!! It has been sometime now since Iβve had such a good read as I have found in this book set of two with the starting book, βit ends with us,β AS I AM FINDING IT QUITE HARD TO KEEP MY HANDS OFF IT!! I SO DO LOOOOVE THIS BOOK!! IM already immediately roaring for Lily, then itβs Ryleβ¦OMG-THEN ATLAS!!?? WHAT THEβ¦.. Yes! This book is AWESOME!! A purely find myself so wrapped around the writing of this author portraying the characters out, every drop of it, I find myself actually purposefully trying to not read the book TOO QUICKLY!!! I knooow THATS CRAZY!??? However, DONT JUDGE ME..LOLβ¦Iβm an AVID reader, my friend/s! Iβve read since I was 8! NOVELS!! **Anyways! I look forward to getting through this book and beginning βit begins with us, βwhich of course we all know is the sequel to the book Iβm reading now! Miss Colleen Hoover is quite a talented writer, I knew that she had talent, however, she has held on to my attention and probably will never be able to let go of it!!!!!!!!!! Awesome BOOK PICK!!! -ShannonShannon
