Reviews:
I purchased this to replace a very old kindle that was being lugged around for many years. I have experience from kindle first generation to kindle fire first generations (as well as 3rd gen), to kindle with keyboards and the first paperwhite model. I must say, this is by far the best for reading i have handled. This uses the fantastic e-ink still on a gently backlit screen, easy to read in the dark or sunlight, any setting. It is light and connects quickly to the internet and my library, loads books fast and flipping through books is quick. I habe a case that works with it and when it's closed it puts it to sleep, and when opens it awakens. Battery life is very good, one charge lasts over 30 days of use for me at least thus far, never really let it get all the way dead. Overall, this is a reasonable value and if it lasts as long as my previous versions, and they don't make it software obsolete, i will be a very happy buyer.averageguy
I bought this recently as I grew tired of reading on my iPhone and iPad. The former is too small and the latter too big and both are too heavy. This Kindle is Goldilocks of screens, exactly right. The digital ink actually makes for a reading experience that is both closer to paper than LCD screens and also better as well. Also, in direct light I usually turn off the back light to conserve power as it really isn't needed. This would be ideal for reading poolside on a bright day. The only downside is that the screen has a slight but perceptible delay to it, sort of like computers from the late '90s. It's not bad, really, but just not as instantaneous as an iPhone or iPad. Still, for the purpose of reading books, I believe it is outstanding. Highly recommended.TheRaVen
Oh I’m literally obsessed. I was shocked. I was super anti-kindle it for YEARS because I’m not a screen reader, I like turning pages, I like a physical book collection, yada yada. BUT — I’m not even kidding, I cannot put this thing down. I read 4 books in 7 days because of how much I truly enjoy it & how easy it makes reading. It’s not super “technologically advanced” like an iPad/iPhone & can sometimes be a little slow to get back to your library or shop the kindle store, but honestly I have 0 issues with it & it’s easy to learn how to use. Part of me also wishes the book covers could have some color BUT I think that would mess with the overall “true to paper” style so I don’t mind the black & white. The screen is not your average computer/tablet screen. It’s soft, perfectly lit, & is such a comfortable read. You can set the text to multiple fonts/sizes, change the brightness & warmness, and the charge holds for weeks. I’m now actually searching for the physical books I have ON the kindle because I’d rather read them there. If you’re on the fence, I doubt you’ll be disappointed. It is slightly more expensive but waiting for a promotion/sale made it definitely doable for me!Violet

Reviews:
My new printer was well packaged but very easy to remove and set up. The software download and installation was quick and trouble free and the printer was working within 45 minutes of arrival. Print quality is most satisfactory (I have not had occasion to print any photos yet) and the Automatic Document Feeder works with minimum of fuss. I was very surprised at the speed of print and how easy it is to scan several documents and save them altogether as a PDF document. To summarise – the OfficeJet Pro *** is BRILLIANT. I could not have chosen better and I am delighted with it. So thanks to all at HP = keep up the good work!!
I bought this printer 4 days ago, I use it everyday for work and has been nothing but a headache. Sometimes it prints, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes when it does print it will do one line and then stop, then another line and stop… I can print something and will not come out for 3-5 minutes later. Tells me there is a paper jam and there isn't. I didn't realize this was non-returnable, my stomache actually hurts after spending this much and I cant even use it. Very disappointed in HPJenn
UPDATE: I am trashing this printer tomorrow. The cyan and magenta cartridges mysteriously went to ZERO over 2 months, despite having indicated at least a little ink before. And now I cannot even print in black and white, even after setting the print settings to use only black ink. I hate this stupid business practice. In 2022, the standard of what constitutes a "good printer" should rightfully be different from a printer from the 1990s – 30 years ago. In some areas, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9000-series feels modern and up to date. Especially in the areas of design, user interface, and a surprisingly connected ecosystem (related to HP's InstantInk subscription service). However, I am very disappointed in the main function of actual printing. I have attached some examples from a document I printed just a few days ago. Note that the printer has been calibrated, has been used very lightly since it was purchased, and the paper used is 80gsm inkjet printing paper of good quality. The text is simply soft or jagged – even by the standards of inkjets – not compared to lasers. You can see it obviously with the naked eye, and there is also obvious banding in pictures. Again, these are not unusable – but in 2022, after decades of printer technology, HP should do much better. The text from my Canon Pixma inkjet from 2010 (12 years old), is sharper than this at the same product price segment.

Reviews:
I used the P-touch label maker to label EVERYTHING! It came in handy when I moved my mom in, she had issues learning where everything was so I labeled EVERYTHING. I typed multiple words on one label and cut between the words to save labels. Example, Sugar (space) Rice (space) Coffee and so on and then cut the words out. It seemed to use less tape. The kids have used this to label notebook and folders as well. This is a great organizing tool for organized fanatics!Nessa82582
The Brother P-touch D220 Home and Office Everyday Label Maker is a great way to organize your home and also helpful with kids labels. It was very simple to set up, just insert the tape included and 6 AAA batteries and it’s set to go. The instruction are easy to follow with pictures included. I love that there are 14 font options, and many templates and symbols. The label maker comes with white tape but has variety of label tapes available. I purchased pink for my daughters school supplies for when she’s going back to school. I love how much more organized my home and office is now after using the label maker. This is a great way to simplify and organize, the machine is easy to use and its small size makes it convenient to keep near for making additional labels as needed. I’ve really enjoyed using it for my home organization and my daughters school supplies.L123
Easy to set up and use, great organizing tool for my art studio, used to label all baskets in my craft room and my wife uses it in kitchen to organize her spices and condiments. It can be personalized to fit anything you want to label. Easy to setup and change cartridges. Nice selection of borders, characters, fonts, etc. I found that there was a bit of a learning curve to get what I wanted on the label. This machine has a nice selection of attributes to make professional and easy to understand labels. I find this machine is perfect for my requirements. This label maker is an organized person's dream come true.Ravoricho

Reviews:
It does NOT come with all items needed to work after set up!! I do not mind needing additional set up since it is a multi-function machine. But come on now! No user manual with instructuons, no printed sheet with easy set up that lists AT LEAST the LINKS NEEDED to DOWNLOAD more set up just to simply PRINT A DOCUMENT. No cord to connect to laptop! (Only wireless printing!). Ok but more downloading for since it is "wireless". Hum, still can't use it. I HAVE NEVER PURCHASED A PRINTER REQUIRING such work to set up. Over an hour of set up time and still cannot print a single document. Followed all instructions and nothing, nada, zero.VICKIE
I am disappointed by this product. I read all the positive reviews and hoped that this printer will simply work, but the problem is that it fails at basic tasks. It was working OK for few months (with few simple problem), now constantly throws errors. Often it wont print, error is shown in windows/printer, require it to be restarted. Sometimes it take multiple tries, wasted time and energy, to get a print out. Other times, it often print with lines or grey/dark spots. Tried cleaning it multiple times, bought new cartridges, nothing helps. Maybe I got a faulty unit, but honestly I am surprised how such a simple task as printing a page can create so many challenges (one would think that printers is not rocket science, but at least for HP it is ;)). Would never buy this product again, actually probably wont buy anything from HP after this experience.
The printer was advertised as coming with installation CD and manual, however neither was in the box from HP. There was only a page referring you to their on-line set-up, which would be a problem if internet is not available. It did not come with a printer cable, although that was indicated on box. After much trouble trying to install the printer via the Wi-Fi options, and downloading the necessary software and instructions, it would not work on the local network where we were staying. Locating the necessary files and information was challenging on the HP support site, which directed you to unrelated help pages if you used the search function. Once installed, any attempt to print a page using the local wi-fi port option crashed my computer completely, requiring a hard shut-down and restart to regain control of the computer (Windows 97) after a page partially prints out. The same result if any attempt to scan a document with it. Only by shutting off all wi-fi functions of the printer and using a separately purchased USB cable could successful printing and scanning be achieved. That said, once the horrors of getting the unit set up were done, the print quality and speed is good, as is the scan operation, if somewhat cumbersome to access via their interface. The printer is compact, and easily portable, and the battery power is likely to be useful, although I have not used it so far, other than having to spend the two hours to charge the battery before being able to set it up. However, be aware that if you are traveling and not on a home or business network, the wireless functions are useless, and operation is only possible using a direct cable connection to the printer. If you don't need the scan and copy functions, I would look to a different manufacturer. I would expect the problems would be the same with the HP print-only version as the set-up software appears to be the same for both the OJ-200 (printer only) and OJ-250 (all in one) versions. If you do purchase it, get the extended Staples warranttee on it, as based on my other experience with HP printers, they fail after a year or so, and it is expensive compared to non-portable units.CHRISTOPHER

7. Acknowledgements: A Cultural Memoir And Other Essays [Book]

Product Details:
Acknowledgements: a cultural memoir and other essays is a collection of previously unpublished writing by national post columnist barbara kay. this wide-ranging selection includes original essays – notably the title essay, a mini-memoir of the cultural and intellectual influences that shaped kay's worldview – as well as a discursive ramble through the bizarre subculture of the pit bull advocacy movement. in between, readers familiar with kay's weekly columns over the last ten years will find elaborated commentaries on her niche subjects: the negative impact of feminism on our public institutions and families, the erosion of academic integrity in the universities and our politically correct "rights" culture's sub-version of social and civic reciprocity in canadian communities.

I am told so by the cricket loving person I bought it for, but I also know the author personally and his witty writing style, so it will be entertaining as well as factual. I've asked for a lend of it back, so that I, knowing nothing about cricket will learn something of the game but in a much more relaxed style than a stuffy rule book. I had the hardback version, which is a beautifully produced book.neidav_0

Reviews:
I bought this book to generate conversations and fun between me and my fiancé. We live in 2 different areas of the country so when we get together it is full of quality time. The book has scratch off sections that do not work. You end up scratching of the entire information. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. During this time of COVID 19 it is disappointing that this book doesn’t deliver what it promised.– Dirk Hansondirk.h
They didn't have the friends edition listed to review but thats the one I've used. Although I did get the couples edition with it. Not sure if illnusenthat one but the friends one is fun we just did our first adventure that was something different. I can't wait to see what the others are like. The mystery of it makes it exciting. I do wish these books were a little cheaper but it is fun and probably worth it since it will last awhile. The camera option is ridiculously expensive though considering that nothing is included with it. I didnt get that off the site but instead got basically the same instant camera on Amazon for probably 80$ cheaper and it included everything along with a neat travel case.sarah.l

I doubted this book for years and refused to read it. After listening to a few friends talk about it and how it helped them, both for a relationship as well for them as an individual, I bought it. The book is an easy read and can be completed in less than a week. It definitely opened my eyes to how different we all are and how communication is key especially because of our differences. I now understand not only how my husband responds to things I do or don't do, but also how I respond to others and why – because I now know our love languages. It's like having an aha moment. I can love specifically in a way that I know will really speak to my husband's heart in ways that I thought trivial before. More importantly, I can put in to words the things that really speak to my heart now. I am so glad I gave it a chance. Game changer!Books-A-Million

This book is truly life changing!! I'm not actually married yet, but I found this information extremely insightful. My fianc and I have been together almost 7 years. We're past our "happy giddy all in love" stage and seemed to be in a comfortable and steady spot in our relationship. This book breaks it down in sections based on personality type. It gives you examples from his actual patients on their chrisis at the time, and his advice he gave them to try. everything in this book is legitimate and helpful. Even though my fianc and I are stable and happy we definitely never new we had two different love languages. The way Gary chapman breaks down each section gives you a true understanding. You'd be surprised how willing your spouse is to listen to your findings in this book. We tried the suggestions he's given his other patients and I must say, we are understanding each other, learning more of one another and things are in a great spot. Thank yousecretshopaholic13

Reviews:
Overall I really enjoy this e-reader. The physical buttons are very nice to still have. I love physical books, but you seriously can't beat being able to carry around a few chick lit novels with you on vacation. I ordered a very cute case with a stand from another retailer and now I'm rockin'. I went with this version because of the physical buttons. No accidental turning like I did with my paperwhite. This is definitely a luxury not a necessity but it's nice to have. Negatives: Expensive for what it is (honestly). Lack of USB -C charging port. Hopefully the next version they update!BrightMe0w
I've had the Oasis for a little over a year now. It definetly does what the paperwhite does, but better regarding the screen and eye strain. It does seem like the battery doesn't last quite as long, but I can't really give any definitive numbers – it just feels a little shorter. The form factor is going to be a love it or hate it situation – I personally like it. My only wish for this device is that it could fit into my pocket a little easier like my old paperwhite did. Is the price worth it? It depends. A Honda Civic will get you to the grocery store all the same as a Corvette – the 'luxury' features of the device are nice, but in no way needed, so it's really up to you and your finances.Praise
Coming from the last Oasis, I was quite bummed when I bought one for my girlfriend and she had the warm-light feature which is standard on this latest model. It is a night and day difference for night reading! In fact, I traded in my old one and got a new model for myself just so I didn't have to lie in bed jealous. I've always liked the way this one felt in your hands – with the ergonomic side grip and buttons. It's just practical, and makes reading more enjoyable. I recommend the Kindle Oasis to any avid reader!bpanter

Reviews:
Even better than I had expected. I absolutely love how it is organized too. It has sections for different types of activities. Some that take a little prep/planning, and others that you can do on the fly. I told my girls (9 & 11) that when they get stumped on what to do, just grab it for some inspiration. We have had it for two weeks now, and it is already becoming a go-to for them. I would definitely recommend this for others. Actually, I ordered two more for birthday gifts.Aimee E.
This is just what I was looking for. I purchased it for a 10-year-old for a school's-out present. Before I sent it to her, I looked clear through the book and marked some of my favorite activities with a sticky-note to let her know I'd found some favorites. A good range of activities, yet many will require the participation of an adult. I would have loved such a book when I was a child.Carol H.
I bought this book as a gift for a friend that spends a lot of time with her young grandsons. i read through it first, and it is spectacular…projects of every sort, inside and outside, and they are adaptable to suit several ages. In addition, that are lots of thoughtful things relating to psycho-social stages of developments, learning to get along with others, affirming thoughts on handling difficult situations…. Highlights has always excelled in encouraging self esteem, curiosity and growth in young people and this book exemplifies that.Margaret P.

Reviews:
I purchased this printer a week ago to replace my 9-year-old printer. I reviewed the Office Depot website and chose 4 printers for comparison purposes that I was interested in before actually going into the store. I read the reviews on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-In-One and decided that I would purchase it based on the positive reviews. I had hoped to see the actual printer on display in the store before purchasing it, but unfortunately, it wasn't a printer that was on display at this particular store. Since I've had the printer for a week now, I've used the printer approximately a dozen times and so far it works well for both printing from my computer and making photocopies. It was extremely easy to set up (about 15 minutes from start to finish), as the instructions were on the touch screen as well as the flyer that came in the box. There was also a promotion that comes with the printer of 6 free months of instant ink and an extra year of HP warranty when you activate optional HP+ and Instant Ink when setting up your printer. I opted not to participate in the 6 free months of instant ink because I'm not a heavy printer user and know that I wouldn't use that feature. I've been very pleased so far with the functionality of this printer!montellocamper
First of all, I want to say that I purchased this printer after reading a ton of positive reviews and based on my great experience with my old OfficeJet printer that lasted for years and always provided excellent quality prints and scans. I was 100% confident in my purchase of this product, now I wish I had never bought it. I have had nothing but problems from the day I got it home. I did not want to connect to my wi-fi (and I have excellent wi-fi speed with boosters all over my home that were professionally installed by my carrier). Then, it didn't want to connect to my Dell computer. After many HP support chats, I finally got the thing set up, but it won't stay connected to my laptop. I'm constantly having to run the HP Smart Troubleshoot and repair it to get it to reconnect to my computer. I'm replacing the ink for the first time, using a generic ink from a brand that I have always used and trust well. I just put the new ink cartridges in the printer gave me an error message "Cartridges Rejected", "The indicated cartridges have been identified as altered or cloned", "HP+ Printers require Original HP cartridges. Replace the non-original cartridges to continue printing"!!!! Now, if you don't mind all of this, this print quality is good, and the scan quality is good. I haven't had any trouble with paper jams either. Mechanically, it's a well-built printer and worth the money. That is if you want to spend all of your money on overpriced ink and all of your time fighting to constantly reconnect it to your non-HP computer! So for Value, I'm rating this a 1 because they expect you to spend all of your money on HP supplies, including the computer that you connect it to. Quality, I'll rate it a 4 because when you are able to print or scan, the quality that you would expect from an OfficeJet is there, but I'm very disappointed with the time that I have to spend to get it to produce. For Ease of use, I would rate it a 0 if I could. Would I recommend this product, as I stated, only if you have a newer HP computer and are willing to spend the money on HP supplies, including paper.Sage95
I was very, very, disappointed with this printer. I purchased it under the belief that the HP Instant Ink program would also apply to Guam, a territory of the U.S. It would've been a great way to get around the expensive costs of purchasing ink cartridges here, and having a printer capable of putting out 15-20 pages a minute would've been a great improvement. However, neither worked out. The Instant Ink program does NOT apply to where I live, and HP customer support was basically useless; they advised me to contact the phone# for HP Instant Ink, but no matter how many times I've tried calling them I just can't get through. And the printer is nowhere near as fast as advertised – it took about a minute to print out a single colored page, let alone how long it for the printer's various gears and such to stop preparing. Granted, I was printing from a wifi connection, but the printer was only one room away from the router, there's no reason why it should take so long. Overall, avoid this printer if you live in the U.S. Territories. Or even still, avoid it if you're the sort to only make printouts infrequently; the instant ink program just isn't worth the hassle.Guam

Reviews:
The device itself is good, but note it is advertised as being compatible with audible, this is only true if you are using Audible.com and you register your kindle account at amazon.com. If your audible and/or kindle accounts are .ca then the audible store will not work with your kindle and your audiobooks will not sync to your device.StrongmanK
I've had several Kindle's over the years the last one being an Oasis but I've always loved the paperwhite model, this updated version has to be their best yet. It's comfortable to hold even in one hand, it's fast at opening books and even unlocking the screen with a pin seems faster. If I had to say a downside there is only one and that is the lack of 4G connection. After having it on the Oasis it does make life easier being able to buy or download a book without having to mess about with Wi-Fi connections but this isn't the end of the world in terms of things to be lacking. I also love the USB-C connection and I bought the charging pad/stand which looks great too. I definitely recommend this model for anyone who already has a Kindle after an upgrade or anyone thinking of buying one.Mrs Floydy
Brought this for my husbands birthday as his kindle was getting on. This version is so much better, especially for me with the new light as it doesn't disturb me in bed anymore. The screen being a bit bigger is great and he is really pleased with it. Anyone thinking of upgrading or buying for first time don't hesitate highly recommended.Linda18

I bought a spiral bound cookbook as a gift, and am very pleased. Excellent quality and service!PG
Deb's blog is a go-to for me and I was excited to get this cookbook. I made 3 recipes for Thanksgiving – two were absolute bangers and one was only pretty good, but I didn't follow her serving instructions so can't fault the recipe. Really looking forward to trying more! The cookbook itself is packed with great photos and easy to follow instructions. LOTS of vegetarian options!Elizabeth
18. And There Was Light: Abraham Lincoln And The American Struggle [Book]

Product Details:
New york times bestseller – pulitzer prize–winning biographer jon meacham chronicles the life of abraham lincoln, charting how—and why—he confronted secession, threats to democracy, and the tragedy of slavery to expand the possibilities of america. “in his captivating new book, jon meacham has given us the lincoln for our time.”—henry louis gates, jr. – one of the best books of the year: kirkus reviews – a president who governed a divided country has much to teach us in a twenty-first-century moment of polarization and political crisis. hated and hailed, excoriated and revered, abraham lincoln was at the pinnacle of american power when implacable secessionists gave no quarter in a clash of visions bound up with money, race, identity, and faith. – at once familiar and elusive, lincoln tends to be seen as the greatest of american presidents—a remote icon—or as a politician driven more by calculation than by conviction. this illuminating new portrait gives us a very human lincoln—an imperfect man whose moral antislavery commitment, essential to the story of justice in america, began as he grew up in an antislavery baptist community; who insisted that slavery was a moral evil; and who sought, as he put it, to do right as god gave him to see the right. – this book tells the story of lincoln from his birth on the kentucky frontier in 1809 to his leadership during the civil war to his tragic assassination in 1865: his rise, his self-education, his loves, his bouts of depression, his political failures, his deepening faith, and his persistent conviction that slavery must end. in a nation shaped by the courage of the enslaved of the era and by the brave witness of black americans, lincoln’s story illustrates the ways and means of politics in a democracy, the roots and durability of racism, and the capacity of conscience to shape events.

We have a boy and got this girl to be a buddy for the boy elf we have (names are Elfie and Ellie.) Of course they are cute and so many fun ideas on what to do with them but I really hoped by now they would have bendable and poseable limbs. I have cut a tiny slit in the arms and placed wires to allow us to move them into position. Also our girl elf arrived without her collar attached, it fell right off as soon as I picked her up. For how expensive they are they could be so much better!janellyfish
The elf is cute. I think it will be a lot of fun. But the book borders on awful. It goes a little heavy on the whole “you better be good” thing and the page about saying your prayers… what is that? Not exactly a secular book. We are going to put the book in the little free library box. But the elf is fine.Valerie
I thought this was gimmicky, but after a few people recommended it, I caved in and got it. This comes in nice retail packaging with the elf and a book you can read with your little ones to refresh them on the story behind the Elf on the Shelf. The elf can sit well and also has his hands together so you can hang him from the tree, lights, etc. I'm only a fan because my kids loved it so much and I want to keep up the tradition – it's precious seeing their faces light up in the morning when they find the elf in different spots of the house. It can be a bit of work as you have to remember to move the elf nightly.Mamas_Review
