Fantastic read, highly recommended it to anyone looking to learn more and learn about ‘how’ to learn. I was sceptical about the speed reading at first but I can attest that it has more than doubled my speed. Jim really is a brain power super coach!
The author's own story of hardship was truly inspirational however alot of the content was common sense. Various chapters did offer me help in my own search for better memory.Margo
I had bought Jim kwik speed reading course back in match after much difficulty with juggling a diploma course and a maths course at the same time. Reviews:
as a state expert in behavior and behavioral change, 20 professional presentations, six years teaching psych, twenty years of helping folks overcome addiction and trauma, I know a little bit about this topic. I do agree with the authors that a weekend experiential seminar is not worth much, however, their very independent or anti-dependent, focus on 'autonomy' is similar to the eighties and the kind of new aged woo woo that is preached in those types of seminars. the book is boring, the typical self help story-line, an imaginary teacher and student. humans are a combination of nature, nurture, and self choice, to state that trauma has no impact is dangerous, read up on the ACE study to learn more. Our genes play a large role in personality, like my mom said, all three boys (sons of hers), came out different, one now has a ph.d. in math, one a masters in education and a bachelors in biology, and of course me, masters in counseling/psychology. Can obstacles be overcome, of course they can, we can change, about a third of who we are, but//and our general nature of who we are, will also remain the same. self help books like this are worthless, try a group experience, Alanon, AA, NAMI, on a regular, at least weekly basis, others, anything from ballroom dance to yoga to karate, and therapy, and guaranteed, in about a years you will see some impactful change. don't buy into the simplistic, dichotomous, viewpoint of a book like this one.lewigalwa-0
Easy to read self-help book. I'm halfway through and I like that the book keeps its focus on a central principle – the Adlerian psychology. I've read and liked so much the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People which according to the this book is also following principles from Alfred Adler. Knowing this made me more interested in this book and curious as to how the youth will transform his views towards the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to know more about life and wanting to learn how to live simply and happily.marap-ric
Good book but not sure I've changed how "pleasing" I tend to be. Guess I lack courage! The humble will inherit the earth … if it's alright with everyone else.Mr. Despicable

Reviews:
This is a great book for stepping through the steps of change. It helps you to identify where you are at, and reasons that you may have failed in the past. It does seem to come at it from the angle of something like giving up smoking or drinking where you can "give up", rather than something like healthy eating or weight loss where there is a finer line between changing and staying the same. I managed to go 30 days without sugar and make some other changes in my life based on the principles in this book, and I will keep it as a reference for the future.
Was asked to read this book by the local hospital obesity clinic. I found it just a bit too textbook-like but extremely helpful in helping to make permanent changes. It takes into account human failings and is very encouraging. The best bits for me were the case histories that helped me to get the point.susanbrian57
Unlike most self-help books out there this one is actually based on research for a change. Based on this Phd's work on how people change this guy has uncovered the different predictable stages of change that people go through when they attempt to get themselves to change. Although the stages are fairly predictable not everybody goes through them in the exact same order as some people skip various stages on their way to changing their behaviour. A great book all-in-all it's definitely worth a look. Also liked The Sixty-Second Motivator". "a reviewer

Reviews:
This book was about a bird who didn't yet know how to fly. The bird has to decide if it will try to fly, but it was not sure if it wants to. The bird thought, "If I never forever endeavor" then I won't ever learn. On one wing, he worries he might fail and on the other wing he thinks of how he may succeed. He worries that if he tries, he may get lost in the world. That makes him want to stay in his nest where he's safe. I think this book would help other children to learn that trying new things can be scary, but sometimes when we try, we can find things that make us happy too. And this book will help others know that mistakes are okay and part of learning. My favorite part is that the bird tried and learned that she could fly. I also liked that I read this book because it gave me a chance to talk to mom about making mistakes and how I don't like making them. Then I learned they are good and part of learning. Boys and girls who are 3 to 8 years old would like this book because it teaches about trying a new thing and how it's important to get past being scared so you can learn new things. I give the book 5 stars since I think it's important for other children to learn about courage.ckoo-68
This book is about tricking your mind into thinking differently than you were tricked into thinking. The stars are for the author taking common self-help strategies and resharing them in an amusing voice with witty headlines. It was entertaining… yet problematic. Here are some disappointing things you'll read: 1. Under "Delegate or Die," regarding having more time to build your business: “You could ask your husband to empty the dishwasher." Yes, we often have to ask for what we need (and learning to ask and receive can be hard). But does Jen Sincero know about the concept of emotional labor? A woman should not have to do the unpaid labor of being her household's project manager, when the adult man living there is fully capable of not only doing chores, but taking the initiative to do chores, in his own house, on his own. 2. "First Rule of Wealth Consciousness: Come From a Place of Abundance, Not Lack": Author claims that some people born into poverty live in cardboard box homes by the highway, while others born into it make actual successes of their lives. She claims the "one key" difference between the two outcomes is the mere BELIEF that they can accomplish anything. This mindset is extremely naive and ignorant to the ways that poverty is systemic (rooted in discrimination, racism, politics, etc.) and propagandizes the false concept of meritocracy (except that instead of claiming a person will succeed because they "worked hard," claiming that all it takes is "thinking hard" enough). 3. In "Money, Your New Best Friend": "Ever notice how when your rent is due in a week and you have no idea how you're going to pay it…you always manage to somehow figure out how to get the money just in time?" For instance, Sincero says you can "transform your life" if you "borrow from a friend." Many readers point out the faults in her luxury car anecdote (buying the pricey ride instead of the practical one she could afford, then worrying about payment later). Let me share my own anecdote. A former roommate of mine was a previously-homeless, now-living-in-Beverly-Hills conspiracy theorist and voracious reader of money mindset literature. When she began subletting with me, we created a payment plan for her security deposit. She lived with me for 1.5 years and somehow never had the funds to pay up; yet when I submitted our 30-day notice to end the lease, on move-out day she suddenly had—you guessed it—a whole damn car of her own! She also liked giving me her rent money a few days late, which meant I had to front my own money to the landlord (see "borrow from a friend"). When she got back from yoga teacher training in India, she asked if she could sleep on the couch instead of in her room in order to pay NO RENT (please note that I am not, in fact, her parents). Our last month together, when I dared break the lease during Mercury Retrograde instead of waiting to "discuss things after both retrograde AND its shadow period are over," she accused me of obsessing so much over money that it destroyed our relationship. She felt superior because she held the author's mindset that, per Sincero, "Money is energy." (Maybe I should write a book, instead of a book review, about my experiences with her!) The author is enabling a mindset that will make those around you resent you. Potential readers, if you pick up this book, take what you need (with a grain of salt) and leave the rest.jessica.b
I am not a huge self-help book reader at this point in my life, but I got this many years ago as a gift from my beloved sister, and a friend of mine picked it as a read for our book club (digital) this month. I really enjoy Jen Sincero and the way she lays it all out there. She is witty and charming and I will be reading her other books as well. I decided to listen to this as an audiobook (on youtube, narrated by Jen herself, if you are interested) so I could multitask. I genuinely felt inspired to be a better me while/after listening to this book. It is filled with honest, good advice and different ways of looking about things. It isn’t super long, which for some of us that is a bonus because we are busy/slow readers/have kids/work all the time/etc. It just is really good. 10/10 would recommend.haley.s

Reviews:
While it does give good suggestions of something different to do; one different thing a day, some things are simply ridiculous– and some were obviously fillers because they couldn't think of anything else. It is kind of hard to think of 365 different things to do everyday. Regardless, it is an interesting read, I would recommend picking it up if you got some extra money lying aroundmattayoh
This is a great book, really fun read and a good laugh. Although the kind of book you really only read once. I recommend it though, good laugh!

Great book!! I've listened to it on Audible three times now and loved it so much that I bought the hard copy as well just to highlight and keep for immediate reference. Some of the knowledge in this book, I have applied to my life and it has immediately changed it! He talks about setting up good systems for habits which is honestly a mind-blowing concept! It's so simple but yet I've never thought about it before. Everyone wants to immediately change their habits, myself included, but never have any systems in place to achieve this. This book shows you how to succeed at this. So highly recommended! I've never been a person who had a favourite book but now I am and this is it!Atomic Amy

Reviews:
For years I felt my organizational habits and routines were a mild case of obsessive compulsive behavior. Although the same habits directly contributed to my profe success, I tried to hide them. This book explains clearly how important those habits and routines are in all areas. I am very glad I read it. Highly recommend!cidinv
I mainly give this book 4 stars because of how it engaged me in the tales of certain companies and studies. I feel it falls a little short in giving detailed advice to change habits.PATRICK
This was a great book, hard to put down. It explains how we do so much of what we do. I even bought another copy to give my son. It wasn't my intention when I started reading, but now I am using the ideas to work on not being so much of a workaholic.gunny-sloan

Reviews:
This book was so great and insightful. I definitely learnt a lot and took away many lessons. It's not too heavy in content either, so was easy to get through.Jade
This book is not really a how-to personal improvement manual; however, by learning about the lifestyles of centenarians who lead productive, healthy lifestyles we can adopt some of their habits. What's interesting is how similar yet different the 6 cultures examined are, and how they are scattered across the globe. Before ordering this volume to share with some of my friends I had given a copy to each of my adult children. It is a real asset, especially when we realize that we're part of an aging population.dejavucollectibles45
As soon as I read about this book, I knew I just had to have it. As Warren Buffett says part of the magic of books is that you can take advantage of the distilled wisdom of experts who has been studying one subject all of their lives. Such is the case with Dan Beuttners great book Blue Zones. Dan has spent most of his life studying the diet & lifestyles of the longest living people on the planet. I found it very, very valuable & I have already decided to add several foods to improve my diet as a direct result of reading Blue Zones. It is one of the greatest books on health I have ever read — & I have read literally thousands of books in the last 20 yearsAussietopgun
