Reviews:
Good at explaining principles of the bass guitar but would be more engaging with recognisable tunes early on. As you learn the notes of new strings, the tunes it gives you to play can sound quite abstract. Otherwise good.winner_richy

Reviews:
Over all, this is the best Bass book out there, (that I've used) and given that it is a little vague in some areas it still isn't a problem if you read through the chapters first!Mo' Bass
It came faster than expected but it didn't have a CD with it like the description said. It's pretty good it teaches you slapping and tapping which is what I'm primarily looking for. I wish it had more reading and picture demonstrations.alysscardie0
I wanted to begin playing bass, so I began messing around with bass guitars at GC in my price range to see which ones I felt comfortable with. Anyway, I started talking to one of the salesmen and he recommended this book. So I went home and started reading some of the reviews and decided to buy it. Some of the reviews state that the author wrote this book for guitar and just revised it for bass, which happens to be true as the author states himself in the book. All in all this seems like a very well written book and I feel it will be a great asset while learning to play bass. MJS also has these same lessons in DVD format which I may buy to compliment the book lessons.

Reviews:
this book is OK I have learned a little in this short amount of time it comes with a CD that isn't that much help if it came with a DVD I know it would make a big difference I bought this cause I'm a Metallica fan and it is nice to learn music that I can relate with it could be better but its OK and for the money if your a fan its nice when you hear music that you like coming from your fingers but you still should buy another set with a DVD its better to watch and learn than read and learn thats my opiniongoat73
