Reviews:
This story is the blueprint for an abusive relationship. It is not a beautiful story of loving and giving, as so many people seem to think. I certainly do not want to teach my child that she should give of herself until there is nothing left. I also do not want to teach her that it is acceptable to take and take from someone else, with no thought to the consequences of her actions.AJ
I love reading this book to my granddaughter, it is one of her favorites. It teaches valuable lessons in the art of life and love. This aithor has a gift that transcends all age groups, we all could learn a little something from this simple book.rose.o
It’s grateful for someone who read this book and think about their parents, but it’s an interesting angle for someone who read this book and only think how their kids should think about them. Love is not unconditional, it never is and never will. It’s perfectly normal. Just express what you want and hold up to your boundaries as well.Whatever

This has to be the worst Children's book I've ever read. It starts out nice then takes a dark turn really fast and just get worse with each page . from telling a child how a mother can stand him and wants to sell him. Then it takes a Norman Baits turn . creepy . and in the end we let the child know that mom will die of old age no matter how much you love her . omg worse Children's book ever …..DON'T BUY !!!!!!! Unless your trying to give your child nightmares .David
I read this to all four of my children from when they were babies until I stopped reading to them. It is such a beautiful love story of a mom and her son. The ending is so beautiful, I tear up every time I read it or think about it! My oldest daughter is pregnant with her first baby and I just purchased this for my soon-to-be-born grandson. I know it will create magical memories for them as it did for her and I and her siblings! We still say to each other, even though my kids are grown – "I love you forever, I like you for always, as long as your living, my baby you'll be"thedebster66
i got rid of this book. Was really cute in the beginning but when the old lady starts creeping around the grown man's house to secretly hold him it is just too weird. What a double standard. If that was an old dad creeping around his daughters house and secretly touching her while she was sleeping the book would be banned.Terry

Reviews:
Yet again Rowling provides her readers with an unforgettable, and intriguing story fully captivating with every page. The new plot sees Harry, Ron and Hermione desperately try to solve the mystery of students becoming petrified at Hogwarts. Although the story itself is mysterious and entertaining, the overuse of recapping past events can be viewed as an unnecessary inclusion in the second instalment of this series. Nevertheless, this book was beyond enjoyable treating readers to a much loved protagonist and many antagonists to despise. A brilliant continuation, readers could not help but continue reading the series if this is a taste of what's to come!Sarah
My granddaughter LOVED the special edition. She just started reading the series and was ready for the second book. She was so excited when she received this special edition and the extras that came with it. I'm very happy with this purchase!!zgirlfriend
I bought this book a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it. It’s in great value both quality and printing and I definitely recommend this book!!Lacieeeeee

I don’t want me third grader reading about “eating disorders”, throwing up, panic attacks, anxiety , bullying, puberty, and seeing a therapist. I don’t know how it has so many stars and other parents are ok this being put into a young mind. Back it goes . The other books talk about kissing , spin the bottle and teen drama. 3rd grader does not need to read about this kind of stuff. Their minds are impressionable and need to focus on positive thingsBatgirl
My daughter has been wanting this book for awhile. Just gave it to her last night and she finished it within a few hours. She loves reading and couldn’t put it down.contuttoilcuore
My my 9yr old son has been asking me to get him this book. He said that it will help with his picky eating. He opened it up on Christmas and was extremely excited to see it was the book he has been asking me for for so long.Jessred8984
6. Rain Reign [Book]

Product Details:
From newbery honor author ann m. martin, who wrote the baby-sitters club series, comes a new york times-bestselling middle grade novel about a girl, her dog, and the trials of growing up in a complicated and often scary world. rose howard is obsessed with homonyms. she's thrilled that her own name is a homonym, and she purposely gave her dog rain a name with two homonyms (reign, rein), which, according to rose's rules of homonyms, is very special. not everyone understands rose's obsessions, her rules, and the other things that make her different—not her teachers, not other kids, and not her single father. when a storm hits their rural town, rivers overflow, the roads are flooded, and rain goes missing. rose's father shouldn't have let rain out. now rose has to find her dog, even if it means leaving her routines and safe places to search. “a story about honorable living in the autistic narrator genre that sets the bar high. . . . martin has penned a riveting, seamless narrative in which each word sings and each scene counts.” —kirkus reviews, starred reviewthis title has common core connections.

Reviews:
We found these books very disappointing. The illustrations are of poor quality and the plot lines make no sense at all. The books are phonetically sound but their only value is strict phonetic instruction. The stories and illustrations are not engaging and this does not foster the love of reading that I want to instil in my child. Very disappointed after reading so many positive reviews and recommendations on the series.
This set is the natural progression from the Bob Books Set 1, and a great one at that. My son loves that he can read a "whole book" (each set comes with 12 small books inside). And we both enjoy discussing the questions/topics from the back cover of each book – his answers let me know that he was not only reading the words on the page but comprehending what the characters have accomplished within the realm of each book. I have never seen my son beam with such pride over an accomplishment before – saying "The End" at the end of each book elicits a broad smile and an assured look. Mostly, I love that each book builds from the last with similar, but different, sounds and a few new "site" words that must be memorized for each – so he uses a combination of phonics (sounding the words out) and just plain word memory (for words like "the" and "was" that don't sound like they are spelled). These books have been the best investment yet. Great value for all that you get.TwiBecca
You don't buy these for the stories. They are deliberately limited,, the reason being that the purpose is to introduce the letters and sounds slowly a few at a time. These are books for people who want to teach reading in a developmental way. So they were perfect for us.Ken

Product Details:

Reviews:
This is a wonderful little book. I bought it back in the early 80's for my granddaughter and I read it to her every night sometimes up to 10 times. She loved this book very much! She is now a mother and ask me if I could find this book for my great granddaughter , I searched ebay and low and behold I found it! This is a brand new book and I am so excited to have found it! I think every grandmother should buy this book and read it to their grandchild! My granddaughter is 21 and still loves this book!lzentner2011
This is a darling Sesame Street book that I remember from my childhood. The story is simple, meaning that even a small child can begin to learn the words. It stars Grover; we love him and he is not scary. And the story is funny. Especially for a small child still learning motor skills, the book encourages little tasks that "test" the child's "strength," and make him or her feel strong and important. I love this book. I still have mine from when I was child; I bought this copy for a friend's baby.Dramalynxs
My eldest son loved the 1st one of these. He wanted it read over and over. It's best of course to read it with a a Grover tone of voice or and change of voice, silliness abounds of course but kids love this book and the 2nd one with Grover and Elmo. My eldest son who is on his 30's eventually memorized it. I'm giving both of them found here on eBay together as original Golden Books to his son. I'm sure my Grandson will love these books. A plus is he has an older sister and I'll write them both when I send these to my Grandson their Daddy loved the 1st book until he had it memorized and make sure you use your Grover and Elmo voices. A Classic all children should have in my opinion. Children are growing up way to fast. The monsters they see now are true evil, the Sesame Street monster in this book, the writing won't scare, isn't vile filth, and is funny stuff for adult kids too.sandra102363
10. Oh The Places You'll Go! By Dr Seuss
Product Details:
A perennial favorite, dr. seuss's wonderfully wise graduation speech is the perfect send-off for children starting out in the world, be they nursery school, high school, or college grads! from soaring to high heights and seeing great sights to being left in a lurch on a prickle-ly perch, dr. seuss addresses life's ups and downs with his trademark humourous verse and illustrations, while encouraging readers to find the sucess that lies within.
Reviews:
This book is way cheaper online (and I was going to order it) but I came across it in my local store for $13.88 so just bought it there because it was one left (probably waiting for me lol). I heard great things about this book but am not surprised I grew up on Dr.Seuss and intend to let the youth in my life do the same. I bought this book to have my child(ren) teachers/important people sign over the years and will give it as a graduation gift (books maybe a thing of the past when this occurs lol but it’s the thought that counts). Anywho…the graphics are great, wording is cute/inspiring/easy to understand, and anyone would enjoy this book. Recommend buying, great purchase.kayohkay
I bought this book and 5 or 6 other Dr.Seuss books for my grandkids. This one taught, in a round about way, some challenging experiences one can come across in life. In between I would explain these scenerios to my 5 year old granddaughter.. We loved rhe pictures and always stopped to admire those pics. LOVEGRAMMY
Books by Dr. Seuss never disappoint! I bought this book, when my son requested I use it for the basis of an anniversary journal. Passages from this book were used by the Mayor of Palm Coast, Fl., to marry my kids. My son wanted a chance to give it to his wife as an anniversary gift full of pictures and memorabilia of their 12 years together. I know she will love the idea. the book worked really well.dollsandart
11. Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets: The Illustrated Edition

Product Details:
Award-winning artist jim kay illustrates year two of harry's adventures at hogwarts. the dursleys were so mean and hideous that summer that all harry potter wanted was to get back to the hogwarts school for witchcraft and wizardry. but just as he's packing his bags, harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named dobby who says that if harry potter returns to hogwarts, disaster will strike. fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, gilderoy lockhart, a spirit named moaning myrtle who haunts the girls' bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of ron weasley's younger sister, ginny. but each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone – or something – starts turning hogwarts students to stone. could it possibly be hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? or could it be the one everyone at hogwarts most suspects, harry potter himself?
Reviews:
I love these books, they're beautiful, a stunning work of art. I'm planning to collect these and read them to my future children and grandchildren but Target put these ugly 20% off STICKERS right on the FRONT COVER of these beautiful hard cover illustrated editions. I don't know how to remove these without damaging the covers. I would rather have paid full price for all of these than get a discount and these marred covers.mad customer
This is the second book in the Harry Potter illustrated series. I love the world of Harry Potter. When reading this book you are taken to a world filled with magic, where the battle good versus evil ensues. Even if you have already read this book or the whole series of Harry Potter books, when reading the illustrated series you have pictures to help your imagination bring the story to life. By the time you finish the book, you will want to watch the movie, even if you have already seen the movie. The Harry Potter illustrated series gives you an excuse to once again enter the world of Harry Potter and let your imagination go wild, and if you crave more Harry Potter you can go to your local Books A Million or go to http://www.booksamillion.com and find a multitude of Harry Potter merchandise to temporarily satisfy your cravings until the next book in the Harry Potter illustrated series come out.Allan
Absolutely love the story, but the new illustrated books are beautiful and wonderful! I really enjoy sharing this series with my 7 year old who enjoys the pictures with the story. We take a moment to enjoy the art at each page turn.Hmweiser

Reviews:
Really happy I have found these books, from doing lots of searching online for some different first readers for my son. They are perfect for the level he is at in prep at the moment, we can sound out the words together. He really likes the different little stories in the book & the line drawings. Very happy to have found these series of books.Sarah
I've purchased many sets of early readers but most have been predictable text which means the little ones can guess or memorise the word. This set is truly decodable and starts very very easy! Meaning they have to sound out the letters for the words. I'm going on to purchase the whole set! If your little one knows the alphabet and is working on letter sounds they will be able to read these books!Tash
My youngest child enjoys these short, little books. These help build his confidence with small sentences. His attention span is short. He tends to opt for these books, so he can read all by himself. It warms this mother’s heart.candy.s

Reviews:
I started this book with my 4.5 year old in November. Letter names and sounds were mostly recognized. However, with preschool closed since March, he had stalled there. His love of books had not translated to reading skills. This book breaks each lesson into small, repeating tasks. Reading letters, reading sounds, reading words, reading sentences, and eventually, reading stories. No fun games. No color pictures. It could be difficult to get an easily distracted preschooler incentivized to complete these "100 easy lessons" in anything resembling 20 minutes. But slowly, he started to get it. He still complained, but began to take an interest in the stories. He started to recognize sounds in the word readings. Then he began to tear through the word reading, and only struggle through the now progressively longer stories. Then, even the stories became manageable. He would still struggle on certain words, but others he began to memorize. Others he'd learned to sound out. There were patterns in what he struggled with, but he had our individual attention to help him. His writing skills improved so much, even his drawing ability improved. As we reached the end of the book, he was reading multiple paragraphs. The once tedious 'reading class' with a grumpy toddler was now 20 minutes of reading and questions. It requires perseverance, but you *can* teach your child to read. With the book complete, he's now onto reading usborne easy readers. He reads picture books like "bad dog" (by M. Bolt) and 'frog on a log" (by Kes Grey) and laughs. He enthusiastically chooses from library books, just like before, but doesn't scoff when asked to read them, rather than be read to. And he can now, thanks to this book.Sarah
I have an early reader, getting stuck on phonetic exceptions and I was hoping this would help (at least help me to guide them). This is a systematic guide using early childhood principles of repetition, and repetition doesn't work for many neurodiverse learners, and no gifted learners. It'd be great for tiger parents wanting their kids with zero phonemic awareness to start school ahead of the pack, or kids with special learning needs who need to take a step back with lots of simple repetition. I fell asleep on the first page, and if my child had seen it they would have looked at me like I had 2 heads and wouldn't have finish half of the first lesson.Jim the walker
Does exactly what it says it does. I was struggling to teach my daughter how to read – even though she is a bright and eager learner – for all the reasons explained in the book's preface. We're less than 20 lessons into the book and my 4 year old is already reading words on her own! I couldn't have taught her without this book's guidance. It's easy to follow, but parents: you HAVE TO read the preface and do exactly what it says to do, in the way it says to do it. Just follow what they author instructs and everything falls into place. I will definitely be keeping this to help my son learn to read when he's old enough.shortie536

Once you read one book by Neil Gaiman, you find yourself hungry for more. He has a great style of story telling. This is the third book I have read written by Neil and he never has let me down. I like to have my attention held and he does the job. I'll pass this one on to my granddaughter. She'll love it …and I know it does not contain any questionable subject matter.Knitwit
I bought this book because a friend of mine was listening to it on tape and was enjoying it. I went to the library a couple of times but it was always signed out. It's a book for young teenagers to read. I had to agree with my friend that I became totally involved in the book. I kept wondering what was going to happen to this little boy and how could he be living in a graveyard. The book had imagination…and it made mine come alive. I want my daughters to read it next and then it will go up on the bookshelf to be read again later.joycechy

Karl S

Reviews:
As a pastor and Father, I am always looking out for great Christian books for my two sons, and now that they are separated by a few tears, the challenge becomes, "How do you entertain both the six year old and the one year old?" Well, now that Christmas books are starting to hit the shelves, there is an opportunity to find books for the entire family, one such book is the Legend of the Candy Cane by Lawrence O Richards and released by Zondervan publishing. First of all, make note that this is a board book – so right away this is geared towards a younger audience. Second, anyone unfamiliar with the tale should know that this is a Christian book, so the story is about tying the message and Jesus together. 1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his stripes you have been healed. Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. However, it should also be noted that this is just a "story" and while it is a beautiful story about the shepherd's crook and the blood of Christ, there is no actual historical evidence that this is true. As the title suggests, this is a "legend" More than likely, peppermint sticks that were already widely common were bent into a "J" shape so that they could hang as Christmas decorations. This book is a wonderful story, sure to pull at your heart strings and guaranteed to be a winner in your home each year. The illustrations are beautiful and my entire family loves it. To many people, the candy cane is a meaningless decoration seen at Christmas time or just a piece of candy to be eaten and enjoyed, but with this book you can give a new meaning to it. Well recommended. Thank you to Zondervan for this advanced copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.mojo
This beautiful over-sized hardcover book is an inspirational telling of a favored Easter tradition. The story explains the tradition of the Easter egg. Thomas and Lucy gathered eggs pretending to hunt for Easter eggs. That night Lucy became very sick with scarlet fever and Thomas was taken to stay with the Sonneman's at their candy store while Lucy recuperated. During his stay with the Sonneman's he learned about the tradition of the Easter egg and the story of Easter. This is a timeless story with beautiful colorful and vivid illustrations that represent a time many years ago. The focus of scarlet fever also leads one to the conclusion that this story is based in the past. It's a sweet and poignant story of a little boy's journey to understanding some confusing and concerning issues. Told with a simple message the story of Easter is rich in representing Christ and the resurrection. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from Zondervan in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and no monetary compensation was received for this review.Nancee
This book was purchased to read to kindergartners as Brentwood library. The students were a perfect audience and so attentive. I hung candy cane around the chair that I sat in to read the book, dressing in red and white with a candy cane on my Santa's hat made it so exciting. This is one of my favorite reading.CORA
