I certainly do not want to teach my child that she should give of herself until there is nothing left. This has to be the worst Children's book I've ever read. It starts out nice then takes a dark turn really fast and just get worse with each page . from telling a child how a mother can stand him and wants to sell him. I read this to all four of my children from when they were babies until I stopped reading to them. It is such a beautiful love story of a mom and her son. The ending is so beautiful, I tear up every time I read it or think about it! My oldest daughter is pregnant with her first baby and I just purchased this for my soon-to-be-born grandson. We found these books very disappointing. The illustrations are of poor quality and the plot lines make no sense at all. The books are phonetically sound but their only value is strict phonetic instruction. The stories and illustrations are not engaging and this does not foster the love of reading that I want to instil in my child. Very disappointed after reading so many positive reviews and recommendations on the series.
This set is the natural progression from the Bob Books Set 1, and a great one at that. My son loves that he can read a "whole book" (each set comes with 12 small books inside). And we both enjoy discussing the questions/topics from the back cover of each book – his answers let me know that he was not only reading the words on the page but comprehending what the characters have accomplished within the realm of each book. I have never seen my son beam with such pride over an accomplishment before – saying "The End" at the end of each book elicits a broad smile and an assured look. Mostly, I love that each book builds from the last with similar, but different, sounds and a few new "site" words that must be memorized for each – so he uses a combination of phonics (sounding the words out) and just plain word memory (for words like "the" and "was" that don't sound like they are spelled). This is a darling Sesame Street book that I remember from my childhood. The story is simple, meaning that even a small child can begin to learn the words. It stars Grover; we love him and he is not scary. And the story is funny. Especially for a small child still learning motor skills, the book encourages little tasks that "test" the child's "strength," and make him or her feel strong and important. I love this book. My eldest son loved the 1st one of these. He wanted it read over and over. It's best of course to read it with a a Grover tone of voice or and change of voice, silliness abounds of course but kids love this book and the 2nd one with Grover and Elmo. My eldest son who is on his 30's eventually memorized it. I'm giving both of them found here on eBay together as original Golden Books to his son. I'm sure my Grandson will love these books. A plus is he has an older sister and I'll write them both when I send these to my Grandson their Daddy loved the 1st book until he had it memorized and make sure you use your Grover and Elmo voices. A Classic all children should have in my opinion. Children are growing up way to fast. I heard great things about this book but am not surprised I grew up on Dr.Seuss and intend to let the youth in my life do the same. I started this book with my 4.5 year old in November. Letter names and sounds were mostly recognized. However, with preschool closed since March, he had stalled there. His love of books had not translated to reading skills. This book breaks each lesson into small, repeating tasks. Reading letters, reading sounds, reading words, reading sentences, and eventually, reading stories. No fun games. No color pictures. It could be difficult to get an easily distracted preschooler incentivized to complete these "100 easy lessons" in anything resembling 20 minutes. But slowly, he started to get it. He still complained, but began to take an interest in the stories. He started to recognize sounds in the word readings. Then he began to tear through the word reading, and only struggle through the now progressively longer stories. Then, even the stories became manageable. He would still struggle on certain words, but others he began to memorize. Others he'd learned to sound out. There were patterns in what he struggled with, but he had our individual attention to help him. His writing skills improved so much, even his drawing ability improved. As we reached the end of the book, he was reading multiple paragraphs. The once tedious 'reading class' with a grumpy toddler was now 20 minutes of reading and questions. It requires perseverance, but you *can* teach your child to read. With the book complete, he's now onto reading usborne easy readers. He reads picture books like "bad dog" (by M. I have an early reader, getting stuck on phonetic exceptions and I was hoping this would help (at least help me to guide them). This is a systematic guide using early childhood principles of repetition, and repetition doesn't work for many neurodiverse learners, and no gifted learners. It'd be great for tiger parents wanting their kids with zero phonemic awareness to start school ahead of the pack, or kids with special learning needs who need to take a step back with lots of simple repetition. Does exactly what it says it does. I was struggling to teach my daughter how to read – even though she is a bright and eager learner – for all the reasons explained in the book's preface. We're less than 20 lessons into the book and my 4 year old is already reading words on her own! I couldn't have taught her without this book's guidance. Once you read one book by Neil Gaiman, you find yourself hungry for more. He has a great style of story telling. This is the third book I have read written by Neil and he never has let me down. I bought this book because a friend of mine was listening to it on tape and was enjoying it. I went to the library a couple of times but it was always signed out. It's a book for young teenagers to read. I had to agree with my friend that I became totally involved in the book. I kept wondering what was going to happen to this little boy and how could he be living in a graveyard. The book had imagination…and it made mine come alive. I want my daughters to read it next and then it will go up on the bookshelf to be read again later.joycechy

Denna konflikt belyses och återkommer hela tiden, kanske som starkats när Dracos far nyttjar sin maktposition att försöka avskaffa Dumbledore. As a pastor and Father, I am always looking out for great Christian books for my two sons, and now that they are separated by a few tears, the challenge becomes, "How do you entertain both the six year old and the one year old?" Well, now that Christmas books are starting to hit the shelves, there is an opportunity to find books for the entire family, one such book is the Legend of the Candy Cane by Lawrence O Richards and released by Zondervan publishing. First of all, make note that this is a board book – so right away this is geared towards a younger audience. Second, anyone unfamiliar with the tale should know that this is a Christian book, so the story is about tying the message and Jesus together. 1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his stripes you have been healed. Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. However, it should also be noted that this is just a "story" and while it is a beautiful story about the shepherd's crook and the blood of Christ, there is no actual historical evidence that this is true. As the title suggests, this is a "legend" More than likely, peppermint sticks that were already widely common were bent into a "J" shape so that they could hang as Christmas decorations. This book is a wonderful story, sure to pull at your heart strings and guaranteed to be a winner in your home each year. The illustrations are beautiful and my entire family loves it. To many people, the candy cane is a meaningless decoration seen at Christmas time or just a piece of candy to be eaten and enjoyed, but with this book you can give a new meaning to it.
