My baby’s favorite Bible. She picks this one up a lot and knows where baby Jesus is, animals are, etc. We’ve read through it countless times. Has some of the main stories like creation, Noah, David, Daniel, and then Jesus. Ends with Jesus loving all the little children- no death on the cross, but we can talk about that when she gets a little older. 🙂 She has another more comprehensive Bible anyway that covers that. This hardback book is a new revised modern version of the already favorite Beginner's Bible. It is not actually a Bible but instead more of a story book Bible with bright illustrations that portray the stories it includes. The illustrations themselves although bright and colorful, seem a little artificial. I guess what I am not quite so fond of is that they all have these big bulging eyes. Otherwise, they are not bad. At the beginning of the chapter, beneath the title, there is a Scripture reference to advise where the story is found in the Bible itself. It includes a variety of stories from the Old and New Testaments such as: Creation, Moses, Joshua, David, several of the Prophets, the Birth of Jesus, His Miracles, and other timeless classic Bible tales. This Beginner Bible would likely be great for young children who may not understand the Bible itself yet,or those beginner readers who enjoy the Bible stories but struggle to read the extra words in the actual Bible. It does however, only covers select parts of the Bible, and the stories are simplified for younger children. At times the stories only cover about three pages, with an illustration on every page also. I received a free copy of this book from Fly By Promotions to review. We were really excited to add this Children's Bible to our bedtime story collection. On the plus side there were a wide variety of stories and over 500 pages. The illustrations keep my soon to be 6 yr old twins engaged. However the stories seemed to be a bit watered down and I would find myself having to explain or make connections that were not in the actual stories. I LOVE THIS! Reading it with my seven year old. We just got to Moses. Yesterday we finished Joseph and she said that was the first time she realized the story was about God turning bad things for good. I was like what?! I know we’ve gone over this before but… Something about the way he rights really clicks with kids and keeps their attention. I love this! Did I say that already? Such a disappointment. I bought this child's first Bible for my 2 year-old granddaughter, and it is not child appropriate. The image in the story of Cain and Able shows anger, aggression and violence. Cain is pulling Abel's hair and getting ready to hit him. Abel is defending himself with one hand around Cain's wrist on the hand that is pulling his hair, and his other hand in the air in surrender. Cain's face is angry and appears to be snarling, maybe yelling. I can not in good conscience recommend this as an appropriate child's book, much less as a child's first Bible. Again, it demonstrates anger, aggression, and violence. I'll be returning it.Liz

This is a precious, large book that my four year old enjoys looking through on her own and having read to her. It is a fun, interactive format to introduce Bible stories in an exciting way. Each story is short and simple, with the beginning of the story on the page and then additional details under each flap. Our first read through the book was a little confusing because my daughter wanted to open the flaps and I read what was inside each one. It was hard to keep the facts and details in chronological order. Now that I know which flap has the correct information, I’m careful to point out which one we read behind next. The book does begin with the fall of man in the Garden of Eden and explains that God had a plan. At the end, with Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection, it explains that this was God’s plan and that Jesus died for the sins of the world. I do wish there was a little salvation message or invitation for children to learn more about what God did for them on the cross, but overall, it’s a cute book that would make a good gift for young children and has adorable illustrations! * I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher.
