Reviews:
These arrived brand new looking and in perfect condition. The HTML & CSS book is one of the most easy to follow books on the subject matter I have encountered. I've read it twice and the concepts are sticking very well. However, it is out of date; a number of changes in both the recommended approaches to designing sites, and the code itself have occurred since published. These are things I am aware of and I am not a programmer. However, I still recommend this book as a great intro to the concepts. It is easy enough to supplement with visits to a site like w3 schools or Stack Overflow, to learn latest best practices and newer HTML5 tags. I am not finished with the Javascript & JQuery book, but it seems to be attempting to humanize a much more complicated subject matter. However, I am not sure yet if the Javascript & JQuery book is succeeding, but relative to HTML + CSS, Javascript seems like a very complex language, syntax-wise, to me, so it might take a second or third read to feel fluent in at least beginner JS.indigorow
Probably not for you if you're seasoned developer, but for me this was the best set of books I've seen on the subject. Javascript books I've seen before tend to omit the very basic founding concepts jumping straight to practical applications. While it's good to get to apply knowledge straight away, it is sometimes not clear why the things have to be the way they are. This book, in my opinion, makes it crystal clear. Both books seem to me a bit over-illustrated, but that's not really a problem and may actually help those who think more visually. I find it hard to suggest a better place to start one's front-end web development career, especially from a design background.jetcat

I hate this book. It is required for a class. I reads like a manual and teaches you to cut and paste. The working code for the chapters in on GitHub for you to copy (with a link to it in the book). But, the code in the book does not match the working code in GitHub frequently.Panda

9. Taming The State In React: Your Journey To Master Redux And Mobx [Book]
Product Details:
The book dives deeply into state management in react. you will learn everything about react's local state and state management with redux and mobx. it comes with a lot of best practices, techniques and concepts. along the way you will have practical hands on experiences by building own applications. – the book turned out to exceed all my expectations. what started as an attempt to write a introductory book about state management in react with redux, turned out into a full blown 250-page book which showcases mobx as alternative state management library, implements exciting applications along the way and has boilerplate projects to get you started in learning and building applications with these libraries. – the bigger idea was to write a book which gives learners a consistent way to study the topic state management. i had the feeling that there exist way too many, partly inconsistent or outdated, tutorials around these topics and it is hard for learners to choose from so many opportunities. i thought, one well structured book should help newcomers to get started easily in the topic of state management with react's local state, redux and mobx. afterward, everyone should be on one well set level to build his/her own applications with redux or mob – x.the book teaches you how to use local state in react and scaling react applications with advanced practices, patterns and techniques. afterward, the ebook dives into learning redux and mobx as libraries for state management. these libraries are taught from scratch without react but in combination with react later on. however, all these learnings are not necessarily bound to react as view layer library. they can be applied in other view layer (component based) libraries, such as vue.js, or single page application (spa) frameworks, such as angular.js, too. – due to redux's popularity, the book teaches more about redux than mobx. but it is planned to grow the mobx part too, because i am really into that library as well. for both state management libraries, redux and mobx, you will learn to use them standalone, to connect them to react applications in multiple ways, and to apply best practices, patterns and tricks to scale them in larger applications. you will learn about using java – script es6 to keep your state immutable, middleware in redux, and flat and normalized state structures. afterward, the terms actions, reducers, store(s), connected components and so on, will not be foreign subjects to you anymore. – after reading the book, i believe you are ready to build your own applications in any (view layer) library or spa framework of your choice with redux or mobx. but when using react, you are setup with advanced knowledge about react's local state to use it in larger applications.

11. The Minimum Javascript You Should Know When You Code React & Redux [Book]
Product Details:
Well, okay, the title is a bit exaggerated. it should probably read "the recommended javascript you should know when you code react & redux". but then again, it will be less click-baity, less controversial, and most certainly generate less sales! that aside, if you pick this book, chances are your team is migrating to react/ redux or your architecture team has decided that the react/ redux is the "strategic" ui framework to adopt for the enterprise. you searched on google for "react redux tutorial" and you found lots of javascript syntaxes alien (probably because you're from a java/ c# background and the last time you coded javascript was a tiny validation script using jquery in 2008). but that's no biggie! you embrace the virtue of continuous learning. you brag about: "i'm a polyglot developer yo!". and then, you decided to get several books on javascript: probably eloquent javascript, javascript allonge or even understanding es6. but argh! they are all too verbose. most of all, you are not a programming noob! you know what variables and conditional constructs are. you simply don't have time to waste on these basics. well, i've been there too buddy. and that's why i wrote this pocket book (aka cheatsheet) to prep people like you transition quickly from basic javascript & intermediate programming knowledge to being able to productively follow through react/ redux tutorials on the web. godspeed!
