3. Jim Cramer's Real Money: Sane Investing In An Insane World [Book]
Product Details:
Even after repeated boom and bust cycles on wall street, it’s still possible to make real money in the stock market—provided investors take a disciplined approach to investing. former hedge-fund manager and longtime wall street commentator jim cramer explains how to invest wisely in chaotic times, and he does so in plain english in a style that is as much fun as investing is—or should be, when it’s done right. for starters, cramer recommends devoting a portion of your assets to speculation. he explains why “buy and hold” is a losing philosophy: for cramer, it’s “buy and homework.” if you can’t spend an hour a week researching each of your stocks, then you should hand off your portfolio to a mutual fund—and cramer identifies the very few mutual funds that he’d recommend. cramer reveals his ten commandments of trading (commandment #5: tips are for waiters). he explains why he’s not afraid to compare investing to gambling (and tells you which book on gambling you should read to become a better investor). he discloses his twenty-five rules of investing (rule #4: look for broken stocks, not broken companies). cramer shows how to compare stock prices in a way that you can understand, how to spot market tops and bottoms, how to know when to sell, how to rotate among cyclical stocks to catch the big moves, and much more. jim cramer’s real money is filled with insider advice that really works, information that cramer himself used to make millions during his fourteen-year career on wall street. written in cramer’s distinctive turbocharged style, this is every investor’s guide to what you really must know to make big money in the stock market.

Reviews:
I am a Stock Market nut and a big fan of Mad Money by Jim Cramer on CNBC. I like Cramer's analytical approach to picking stocks as opposed to "technical" (or, in my opinion, mostly emotional one) that a lot of "analysts" take. The book once more reiterates most of the principals that he preaches on his show and does it in an interesting "non-boring" way (that is if you like the stock market talk, which I do). He breaks down complicated concepts into simple terms and makes them seem doable to a general investor. Some sections of the book could have been a lot more concise, but there are not many of them and they are not too bad or too long. All in all, I enjoyed the book and will not resell it. It is a keeper in my library.amazinglife2000
Even though the book is now out in paperback, I wanted a hardback to keep for reference. It is an excellent (and fairly easy) read with a lot of good background and advice on investing. It's not a how-to book for day-traders, but does address speculation as well as longer term investing. Even with the recent pullback, in the market, it is still pertinent. Watching Cramer's CNBC show, Mad Money, deals with the now-term of the market and compliments the book well. I also bought his other book, Mad Money, but I haven't gotten to it yet. I really recommend this book, Real Money by Jim Cramer.capt_maniac

13. One Up On Wall Street: How To Use What You Already Know To Make Money In The Market [Book]
Product Details:
The national bestselling book that every investor should own peter lynch is america's number-one money manager. his mantra: average investors can become experts in their own field and can pick winning stocks as effectively as wall street professionals by doing just a little research. now, in a new introduction written specifically for this edition of one up on wall street, lynch gives his take on the incredible rise of internet stocks, as well as a list of twenty winning companies of high-tech '90s. that many of these winners are low-tech supports his thesis that amateur investors can continue to reap exceptional rewards from mundane, easy-to-understand companies they encounter in their daily lives. investment opportunities abound for the layperson, lynch says. by simply observing business developments and taking notice of your immediate world — from the mall to the workplace — you can discover potentially successful companies before professional analysts do. this jump on the experts is what produces "tenbaggers," the stocks that appreciate tenfold or more and turn an average stock portfolio into a star performer. the former star manager of fidelity's multibillion-dollar magellan fund, lynch reveals how he achieved his spectacular record. writing with john rothchild, lynch offers easy-to-follow directions for sorting out the long shots from the no shots by reviewing a company's financial statements and by identifying which numbers really count. he explains how to stalk tenbaggers and lays out the guidelines for investing in cyclical, turnaround, and fast-growing companies. lynch promises that if you ignore the ups and downs of the market and the endless speculation about interest rates, in the long term (anywhere from five to fifteen years) your portfolio will reward you. this advice has proved to be timeless and has made one up on wall street a number-one bestseller. and now this classic is as valuable in the new millennium as ever.

This is probably one of the very few books that I would recommend to anybody who is starting or have started to Invest and is looking for knowledge! I would recommend to read all three of his books in this particular order: 1. Learn To Earn 2. Beating the Street 3. One Up On A Wall Street. These three are like sequel of books. His first book tells the history of the Wall Street and the history of Stocks dating back from the early years back in 1600s.. His second book writes about the years of him working at Magellan Fund and starts to introduce some important numbers like P/E ratio, Balance Sheet, Earnings per Share and so on. His third book starts to explore all the important numbers mentioned in the 2nd book but in much greater detail. It also talks about debt, dividends, sales ratios and so on. Most importantly it talks about the 4 types of businesses and the risk and rewards that come with those 4 different types of businesses. I've read 9 books on investing in the last 6 months and I think this one is by far the best! p.s. The 9 books include 'Rule 1', 'Payback time', 'The Dhando Investor', 'Accounting for non accountants', 'The little book that beats the market', all three Lynch's books and the 'Intelligent Investor' by Ben Graham.karkdady
After having seen this book published in a number of articles as recommended reading for individuals interested in investment, I was intrigued to read it. The author Peter Lynch does an amazing job of opening up your though process that anyone with a devoted interest in investments can accomplish a goal they set. Taking you on a journey of his own unique path that lead him from being a young golf course caddy to becoming a highly respected fund manager. Repeatedly Mr. Lynch reminds the reader that the markets are unpredictable and emphasizes that regardless if the markets are bearish or bullish focus on purchasing the right stock is the most important aspect of investing. I found the book to be a highly important read as Mr. Lynch not only reflects on his winning investments, but also his on losses or poor choice investments. A reasonable amount of time is spend discussing alternative investments outside of the stock market as well as a comparison of return on investment. The charts and examples used throughout the book are easy to understand and offer an opportunity to compare to similar equities which are following the same trend today. Overall I was delighted to have read this book. I found it to be informative and thought-provoking yet written in a simple to understand manner.pennyrosebooks

I wanted to know more about these cheap stocks. It is a very interesting book to read however to utilize this information takes a lot of thought. Holding on to these stocks and waiting for them to soar and make money may take more time than I have patience. I'm no expert and would need to read the book again and again before all this information became valuable. (And I will be rereading the book).
