The CJB allows you to see the Holy Scriptures from the Jewish prospective. I own this for many years was given to me by a Messanic friend. I gave a copy to my sister, who used the CJB to write a masters paper in a christian university. We both use it as our regular bibles. Now I find it hard to follow other translations. There is a consistancy of vocabulary. It writes poetry as poetry, letters as letters and bolds in the NT the prophecy fulfilled by Yeshua. It is the only English version fully Jewish in style and presentation. I'm a christian who believes that YHVH is one… I have been trying to find who He is, and all that He is through His Word. Now I know that it's impossible to fully know Him, but what I am looking for is to know Him in truth… Christian bibles convey a 'different' entity altogether, and words have been distorted to give their biased opinion for a trinitarian-god concept. This was and is not how YHVH appeared to the jews… Hence, straying from the the truth completely. On the other hand, I was given, as a gift, another bible more Jewish in nature and it's in Spanish. This bible has history on the feasts, customs, and why JESUS'name is offensive to jews… And it has so many words in hebrew, forcing the reader to learn some of the words and their meanings… With that in mind, that's what I expected from this bible, especially since it was written by a Jewish man. To its credit, I have to say, I use both bibles to know the context, but in this COMPLETE JEWISH BIBLE, I like that it gived much deyail in the Parashah sections.. I truly like this version of scripture as it really does help you to understand the roots of Christianity and Judaism and combines them both. I like how it describes the ancient names of YHVH and Yeshua the Christ. I highly recommend that you read the introduction to the book to kind of have some insight, instead of just jumping right into scripture. I know it is truly a treasured book to me and the flexisoft covering is so much nicer than hardcover to me anyways. I wish I could of afforded the actual leather but it is truly awesome for the price that I paid. I truly love the explanations of the names of our God, such as ADONAI and Elohim, truly take time and get this version and be prepared to expand your mind as it teaches also the names of many people throughout the scriptures. I truly like this version of scripture as it really does help you to understand the roots of Christianity and Judaism and combines them both. I like how it describes the ancient names of YHVH and Yeshua the Christ. I highly recommend that you read the introduction to the book to kind of have some insight, instead of just jumping right into scripture. I know it is truly a treasured book to me and the flexisoft covering is so much nicer than hardcover to me anyways. I wish I could of afforded the actual leather but it is truly awesome for the price that I paid. I truly love the explanations of the names of our God, such as ADONAI and Elohim, truly take time and get this version and be prepared to expand your mind as it teaches also the names of many people throughout the scriptures. I know I struggle trying to learn the pronunciation of the names but it's awesome to see and try.morbius45105

I found this book to be extremely helpful. It tell's you all about the different types of Jews, the religious holidays, what being a Jew means, what the Torah teaches, what kosher is, how they marry, how they grieve and their funeral customs, their laws, how different types of Jews live, being in a synagogue and describing the service, basically covering everything you would ever think about and even some you don't about being Jewish. It's all condensed but very understandable and easy to read. I first read it when i checked it out at the library, as a funeral director i felt i should have some familiarization with the religion. I liked it so much and found it so useful i wanted a copy for myself.copperkos2012
