Reviews:
This book is great. The lessons are broken down into manageable portions and covered thoroughly. The layout is good and content is comprehensive. The teacher edition also includes quizzes and tests (with answers), while the student edition only has exercises. The only negative thing for me is that the quizzes/tests have the answers printed on them, so I have to copy and white-out before I can give tests to students since I did not buy the separate test/quiz packet. The kids are enjoying it and learning more than they think. I am using it to teach the Dialectic (or middle school) level age group in a private homeschool co-op academy.Gayle

Reviews:
There were so many fallacies inadvertently committed by the authors, it was honestly astounding. Plus, this book is racist, misogynistic and written with a clear political bias. I honestly can’t even figure out what they know about actual fallacies or logic. Reading it did lead to a discussion about how the authors were motivated by their own social biases and beliefs. Unfortunately, I didn’t look the authors up before I bought the book. But when I finally did, I couldn’t find any ways in which they would be qualified to write a book about logic or fallacy. Even without all that, the questions and exercises at the end of each chapter were at best confusing and nonsensical. I find it strange and alarming that so many people seem to connect with the ideas and descriptions in this book. I’ve never written a review of anything on the internet before but I was compelled to share, especially because the many positive reviews led me to purchase this book.Katie
Excellent and fun logic book. Write in pencil so you can erase answers for the next kid.Sharon

14. Meaning And Argument: An Introduction To Logic Through Language [Book]
Product Details:
Meaning and argument shifts introductory logic from the traditional emphasis on proofs to the symbolization of arguments. another of its distinctive features is that it shows how the need for expressive power and for drawing distinctions forces formal language development. this volume is ideal as an introduction to formal logic, philosophical logic, and philosophy of language. at each stage of system elaboration and development, the book answers meta-logical questions. why is a particular formalism needed? what must go into such a formalism and why? these questions engage students in a collective inquiry which allows them to see logical studies as a human enterprise aimed at achieving well understood goals – clarity and good reasoning. the second edition extends and systematizes the account of anaphora, including "donkey" anaphora, plural anaphora, and cross-sentential anaphora. it also has additional sections on counter-models and semantics, and contains additional exercises and an updated bibliography. this update of the second edition includes over a dozen additional problem sets and revisions throughout.

15. Essential Logic For Computer Science [Book]
Product Details:
An introduction to applying predicate logic to testing and verification of software and digital circuits that focuses on applications rather than theory.computer scientists use logic for testing and verification of software and digital circuits, but many computer science students study logic only in the context of traditional mathematics, encountering the subject in a few lectures and a handful of problem sets in a discrete math course. this book offers a more substantive and rigorous approach to logic that focuses on applications in computer science. topics covered include predicate logic, equation-based software, automated testing and theorem proving, and large-scale computation. formalism is emphasized, and the book employs three formal notations: traditional algebraic formulas of propositional and predicate logic; digital circuit diagrams; and the widely used partially automated theorem prover, acl2, which provides an accessible introduction to mechanized formalism. for readers who want to see formalization in action, the text presents examples using proof pad, a lightweight acl2 environment. readers will not become alc2 experts, but will learn how mechanized logic can benefit software and hardware engineers. in addition, 180 exercises, some of them extremely challenging, offer opportunities for problem solving. there are no prerequisites beyond high school algebra. programming experience is not required to understand the book's equation-based approach. the book can be used in undergraduate courses in logic for computer science and introduction to computer science and in math courses for computer science students.

Excellent Book For BeginnersLB25
I bought this book in order to learn Logic Express from the ground up. It covers both Logic Pro and Logic Express, going into the (slight) differences as you progress. So far I am through Recording with loops, audio and MIDI. Each chapter takes about 1 hour and has a quiz style review at the end to check your understanding. The book also shows the different methods for doing the same action, such as a keyboard shortcut, a menu command or a button push while performing the exercise. I highly recommend this book.maddiesmakings
