A wonderful instant classic for children. My girls are completely enamoured with this adorable tale and have read it several times already. A must-have for any kids collection!SHAWN
At the start of the pandemic, when my son was 6.5, he didn't want to read or be read to. I had tried different things, but he wasn't interested until a few months ago when I stumbled on this book. He likes to follow hurricanes and the scene in the beginning hooked him. As did the robot MC and the setting in the future, and among other things. I have to credit this book for getting him out of a reading slump. This review is based on my 8yo enjoying this story.Ashleys

Väldigt bra bok med olika short stories om robotar. Vissa är längre/mindre och vissa är mer seriösa/humoristiska. Det är intressant också för man får läsa lite OM historierna, inte bara själva historierna.Daniel D

Reviews:
Fast-paced, and very much in the style of Asimov's writing. Susan Calvin's early years are full of surprises – remember she's young in this book, make allowances for some 'uncharacteristic' responses. The characters are well-thought out, and descriptions are just enough to let your imagination put it all together, instead of bogging down in too much detail. This is a book that's hard to put down!wolffeathers2003

14. Rise Of The Robots: Technology And The Threat Of A Jobless Future [Book]

Product Details:
Though all these nifty devices and programs might make our lives easier, they're also well on their way to making good jobs obsolete. a computer winning jeopardy might seem like a trivial, if impressive, feat, but the same technology is making paralegals redundant as it undertakes electronic discovery, and is soon to do the same for radiologists. and that, no doubt, will only be the beginning. in silicon valley the phrase disruptive technology is tossed around on a casual basis. no one doubts that technology has the power to devastate entire industries and upend various sectors of the job market. but rise of the robots asks a bigger question: can accelerating technology disrupt our entire economic system to the point where a fundamental restructuring is required? companies like facebook and youtube may only need a handful of employees to achieve enormous valuations, but what will be the fate of those of us not lucky or smart enough to have gotten into the great shift from human labor to computation? the more pollyannaish, or just simply uninformed, might imagine that this industrial revolution will unfold like the last: even as some jobs are eliminated, more will be created to deal with the new devices of a new era. in rise of the robots, martin ford argues that is absolutely not the case. increasingly, machines will be able to take care of themselves, and fewer jobs will be necessary. the effects of this transition could be shattering. the time to choose is now. rise of the robots is a both an exploration of this new technology and a call to arms to address its implications. written by a successful silicon valley entrepreneur, this is a book that cannot be dismissed as the ranting of a luddite or an outsider. ford has seen the future, and he knows that for some of us, the rise of the robots will be very frightening indeed.

Faktiskt! :). Man känner sig bara smart :dLisa S

I'm completely new to the world of robotics and this gives me an interesting overview of robot wars but also an absolute beginners project section for building basic bots with component and tools required list and full instructions with pictures very happy as a foundation starting pointsmiths_bizarre_boutique
This book is naff. All it does is give you some basic layouts for bodywork and VERY basic info on the wiring and controls. Even for a Haynes manual it's shite. My opinion… Google the info you need and save your moneymohawk3618
If you were a fan of the Robot Wars series you will enjoy reading this book as lot of information both about both the "house" and competitors robots. If not, you will perhaps be a little disappointed, as book seems to be more intended for those who are looking for inspiration and ideas rather than being a step by step guide.bluecapri789
17. The American Robot: A Cultural History [Book]

Product Details:
Although they entered the world as pure science fiction, robots are now very much a fact of everyday life. whether a space-age cyborg, a chess-playing automaton, or simply the smartphone in our pocket, robots have long been a symbol of the fraught and fearful relationship between ourselves and our creations. abnet shows to dazzling effect in the american robot. in tracing the history of the idea of robots in us culture, abnet draws on intellectual history, religion, literature, film, and television. he explores how robots and their many kin have not only conceptually connected but literally embodied some of the most critical questions in modern culture. he also investigates how the discourse around robots has reinforced social and economic inequalities, as well as fantasies of mass domination—chilling thoughts that the recent increase in job automation has done little to quell. the american robot argues that the deep history of robots has abetted both the literal replacement of humans by machines and the figurative transformation of humans into machines, connecting advances in technology and capitalism to individual and societal change. look beneath the fears that fracture our society, abnet tells us, and you’re likely to find a robot lurking there.
