3. Jim Cramer's Real Money: Sane Investing In An Insane World [Book]

Product Details:
Even after repeated boom and bust cycles on wall street, it’s still possible to make real money in the stock market—provided investors take a disciplined approach to investing. former hedge-fund manager and longtime wall street commentator jim cramer explains how to invest wisely in chaotic times, and he does so in plain english in a style that is as much fun as investing is—or should be, when it’s done right. for starters, cramer recommends devoting a portion of your assets to speculation. he explains why “buy and hold” is a losing philosophy: for cramer, it’s “buy and homework.” if you can’t spend an hour a week researching each of your stocks, then you should hand off your portfolio to a mutual fund—and cramer identifies the very few mutual funds that he’d recommend. cramer reveals his ten commandments of trading (commandment #5: tips are for waiters). he explains why he’s not afraid to compare investing to gambling (and tells you which book on gambling you should read to become a better investor). he discloses his twenty-five rules of investing (rule #4: look for broken stocks, not broken companies). cramer shows how to compare stock prices in a way that you can understand, how to spot market tops and bottoms, how to know when to sell, how to rotate among cyclical stocks to catch the big moves, and much more. jim cramer’s real money is filled with insider advice that really works, information that cramer himself used to make millions during his fourteen-year career on wall street. written in cramer’s distinctive turbocharged style, this is every investor’s guide to what you really must know to make big money in the stock market.

Reviews:
I am a Stock Market nut and a big fan of Mad Money by Jim Cramer on CNBC. I like Cramer's analytical approach to picking stocks as opposed to "technical" (or, in my opinion, mostly emotional one) that a lot of "analysts" take. The book once more reiterates most of the principals that he preaches on his show and does it in an interesting "non-boring" way (that is if you like the stock market talk, which I do). He breaks down complicated concepts into simple terms and makes them seem doable to a general investor. Some sections of the book could have been a lot more concise, but there are not many of them and they are not too bad or too long. All in all, I enjoyed the book and will not resell it. It is a keeper in my library.amazinglife2000
Even though the book is now out in paperback, I wanted a hardback to keep for reference. It is an excellent (and fairly easy) read with a lot of good background and advice on investing. It's not a how-to book for day-traders, but does address speculation as well as longer term investing. Even with the recent pullback, in the market, it is still pertinent. Watching Cramer's CNBC show, Mad Money, deals with the now-term of the market and compliments the book well. I also bought his other book, Mad Money, but I haven't gotten to it yet. I really recommend this book, Real Money by Jim Cramer.capt_maniac

Reviews:
Good book definitely has changed my way of thinking.leviathafo_0
Reviews are weird… It's a book. The paper was light and crisp, making it inviting to turn the pages endlessly. It was too light to consider using as a weapon if needed though. Probably wouldn't make veryt good body armor either. The content of the book is good. If you're interested in buying real estate with little, or no money, down; this book has plenty of tips.rach3202
In hindsight I should have picked up in the title "no money" – this guy is a con man who has a poor editor and provides nothing but far fetched ideas that only loosely relate to properly investing and sound more like a school kid talking about what they would do if they found $1M. Like the scenario where you are a builder who flips houses and a Dr you know just happens to lend you $370k… what a great and applicable strategy that is to my lifePeco

Reviews:
Nothing special. 90% of the book can be summed up by the title. The rest is fluff and examples of financial stuff they handle in high school. If they make a cliffnotes version of this book…do yourself a favor and buy that. It'd save you a day reading through all the fluff. If you're like 15 and just getting into real estate it's worth it, otherwise it's way too repetitive.Jeff

15. Sustainable: Moving Beyond Esg To Impact Investing [Book]

Product Details:
"modern capitalism is a mess, and a growing number want finance to fix it. their chosen cudgel esg (environmental, social and governance) investing has become a $100 trillion phenomenon in the past half-decade alone. its success or failure will impact every living creature on earth. today, esg priorities drive the strategies of the world's largest corporations; prioritizing shareholders is out; protecting the environment and elevating other stakeholders is in. esg rules increasingly dictate the investment choices of the world's largest retirement plans and sovereign wealth funds. yet few know what esg stands for, let alone how its rules are written or what their consequences will be. will esg investing succeed? not if it stifles entrepreneurialism, subverts market discipline, negates personal responsibility, or forces asset managers to supplant values for valuations, industry insider terrence keeley argues. obscuring stakeholder responsibilities and ignoring comparative advantage further risks the loss of prosperity and financial stability without protecting the earth from further despoliation. esg investing is premised on two false tenets: that divestment threats directly alter corporate behavior, and that verifiably good corporations make for great investments. keeley argues it's time to reassess what esg has accomplished and where it is heading. the stakes reveals how esg investing must be recalibrated and reinforced if it's to have its intended effects. but all is not lost. there are hundreds of companies and ngo's that already provide beneficial, scalable solutions. and those who wish to deploy their capital to improve the world and produce superior returns can consider impact investing instead of indexed esg funds"–

Reviews:
The Good: Tons of ideas from numbers of world grade investors – People like Richard Russell and Dennis Gartman penned some of their experiences into words. The get-to-point-of-fact format that the editor made this book a real easy read(It's over 250 pages long.) It also cut out any non-essential (ie. inflated) FED's Data that tends to shows in graphs in other finicial books I read recently. The Bad: er.. covers? It's pretty ugly… no 3D holographic money sign. Just a homely little yellow book. The Ugly: A lot of things these investors talks about are so painfully simple that most of us non-pros (and pros alike – not all stockbrokers become rich) seem to missed. I don't know how many times I almost throw the book at the wall because it reminded of my past (and often, very dumb) mistakes. Conclusion: Well edit, well write, and wealth of ideas that can help you cash-in and avoid any costly mistakes. (This book is about 8 years late for me ^_^;) I would especially recommend this general idea book to any noobz who are interested going into the market – it will help you get a headstart and take out any posers out there.kirkevarer
I am in the middle of reading this one and I can say that if there are 100 people there will be 100 different Just One Things. That is, quite ironically, that there perhaps is no Just One Thing. You read this book and maybe you will be able to find one thing that most suitable to you. You can learn anything from anybody and this book offers numbres of world renown investors, it will be worth it.
