1. Higher Purpose: How To Find More Inspiration, Meaning, And Purpose In Your Life [Book]

Product Details:
Why are you here? what is life for? what are you meant to do? best-selling author robert holden helps you go from looking for your purpose to living it. (hint: it’s not just about you.)“ how do i find my life’s purpose?” in the 10-year run of robert holden’s call-in radio show, shift happens!, his listeners asked that question more often than any other, by far. in higher purpose, holden takes readers on an epic journey of self-discovery that includes the hero’s journey with joseph campbell, carl jung’s work on true vocation, victor frankl’s search for meaning, a pilgrimage with st. francis of assisi, the poetry of wordsworth and rilke, and much more. the journey has four stages: “the call” explores “the calling” inside you to live a more meaningful life. “the path” helps you to realize what inspires you, what brings you alive, to follow your joy, and to do more of what you love.“ the ordeal” tackles the inner blocks, the road of trials, and challenges you must overcome to live your higher purpose. “the victory” encourages you to not betray yourself, to “sing your whole song,” and to keep on saying yes to your soul’s high adventure. in higher purpose, holden explores three distinct levels of purpose: your unique purpose, a shared purpose, and the greater purpose of life. he offers inquiries, meditations, and journaling exercises to help you live your purpose every day. and he shares stories from his own life and conversations with a host of remarkable people—maya angelou, louise hay, jean houston, matthew fox, robert thurman, caroline myss, andrew harvey, wayne dyer, oprah winfrey, and more.

2. The Happiness Of Pursuit: Finding The Quest That Will Bring Purpose To Your Life [Book]

Product Details:
A remarkable guide to the quests that give our lives meaning—and how to find your own—from the new york times bestselling author of the $100 startup and 100 side hustles “if you like complacency and mediocrity, do not read this book. it’s dangerously inspiring.”—a. j. jacobs, author of the know-it-all when he set out to visit all of the planet’s countries by age thirty-five, compulsive goal-seeker chris guillebeau never imagined that his journey’s biggest revelation would be how many people like himself exist—each pursuing a challenging quest. these quests are as diverse as humanity itself, involving exploration, the pursuit of athletic or artistic excellence, or battling against injustice and poverty. everywhere that chris visited he found ordinary people working toward extraordinary goals, making daily down payments on their dreams. these “questers” included a suburban mom pursuing a wildly ambitious culinary project, a dj producing the world’s largest symphony, a young widower completing the tasks his wife would never accomplish—and scores of others writing themselves into the record books. the more chris spoke with these strivers, the more he began to appreciate the direct link between questing and long-term happiness, and he was compelled to complete a comprehensive study of the phenomenon. in the happiness of pursuit, he draws on interviews with hundreds of questers, revealing their secret motivations, their selection criteria, the role played by friends and family, their tricks for solving logistics, and the importance of documentation. equally fascinating is chris’s examination of questing’s other side. what happens after the summit is climbed, the painting hung, the endurance record broken, the at-risk community saved? a book that challenges each of us to take control—to make our lives be about something while at the same time remaining clear-eyed about the commitment—the happiness of pursuit will inspire readers of every age and aspiration. it’s a playbook for making your life count. “the happiness of pursuit is smart, honest, and dangerous. why dangerous? because it is as practical as it is inspiring. you won’t just be daydreaming about your quest—you’ll be packing for it!”—brené brown, ph.d., lmsw, author of daring greatly

Reviews:
Every single person on this earth was born for a particular reason. Each of us has a particular job to do while we are on this earth. Our unique personality, abilities, and life experiences were specifically chosen to support and guide each of us towards this unique life purpose. S.H.A.P.E.: Finding & Fulfilling Your Unique Purpose for Life helps the reader pinpoint his or her own life direction. As this book is written from a Christian perspective, the life purposes center around how individuals can use their unique gifts and experiences to serve God's purpose while on earth. Nonetheless, I believe that the framework of the S.H.A.P.E. model would be equally useful for Non-Christian individuals in identifying and seeking their life purpose or even those of the general public looking for career advice. I felt that S.H.A.P.E. was very well thought out and brought together in a very realistic, easy to use series of exercises. I also really appreciated the Better Together section, which encourages the reader to gain support from other individuals. Too often, we think that we have to do everything alone.fibro_doc
Knowing your purpose in life changes everything!!gpapjg_bjimf1qb7e
I bought this book because our SS class was studying it and I needed one. It covers spiritual gifts, passions, experiences, abilities, and personality. Then it asks you to put it all together to discover your Kingdom Dream/Purpose and then act on that. It is a great study, but it is very detailed and takes reflective thought by the reader to do assignments. Take your time going through the book and do the assignments as you go, or the later chapters become overwhelming.steveg6030

Will give the book to a friend who recently lost her husband to help guide her through the rough times.Flower67
This book is a must have by everyone! The reason I bought this book is because of the author and clear cut advice that is given in a no nonsense manner. We all will face all of the days that the book outlines, and it is most important to be prepared for those days so that we can react appropriately. Preparation is the key for success and knowing the steps to take makes the bad things in life and little easier to handle. I know we all would prefer not to think of those things but there is great comfort in knowledge. Angieunclegoe

15. On The Shortness Of Life [Book]

Product Details:
Life is long if you know how to use it."" but life is very short and anxious for those who forget the past, neglect the present, and fear the future."" often a very old man has no other proof of his long life than his age." on the shortness of life is seneca's best-known work. it offers piercing and profound insights into human nature, and a vision of the good life, summarised in his aphorism, "life is long, if you know how to use it." at times it will acquire fresh energy from a journey by carriage and a change of scene, or from socializing and drinking freely." lucius annaeus seneca (4 bc – ad 65), also known as seneca the younger, was a roman philosopher, statesman and dramatist. he was the leading intellectual in the mid-first century and was a trusted advisor to the emperor nero. seneca's books are among the most important primary texts of stoic philosophy. his literary style and ideas were renowned and influential in his time, and ever since. the reformer calvin published a commentary on one of seneca's works, while the catholic philosopher, erasmus, edited a volume of seneca. in today's uncertain world, there is a resurgence of interest in stoic philosophy and seneca's body of work.the shortness of life, a brief, accessible and carefully argued guide to a wise and full life is an essential classic.stoic philosophy is, above all, practical. it uses reason and the careful observation of human life to address the problems of daily life. it is also universal-the emperor marcus aurelius and the freed slave epictetus were both prominent stoic philosophers. in recent years, stoic philosophy has provided invaluable life lessons to people in all spheres of life including prisoners of war and holocaust survivors, psychiatrists, and those in the business world. indeed, modern stoic thought "hold[s] fascinating promise for business and government leaders tackling global problems in a turbulent, post-recession slump," (forbes).

Reviews:
Hard back book was good quality and interesting reading.garrigarmicha
It seems like someone printed this on their home printer. The font is huge, the pages are thin, and random words are bolded throughout. Lousy rendition of a classic, in my opinion. I wish I had bought an actual book of this masterpiece.andwest99

This book will open your mind, to what you have been looking at, but not fully seeing, Hearing, but not listening to. Within reading the first ten pages, I was hooked. Very compelling, and gives you a hunger for more. This is a modern look, at the truth about the human race, the illusion we call life. Open your mine and wake up to the real world right in front of you. I cannot rate this book high enough! Just get it!!! it WILL change your outlook upon life.vincenza!
Or you could just buy it and Burn it! Oprah has become an advocate for the New Age, New Life, Buddha type of Belief for some time now! Don't misunderstand me, I absolutely Love Oprah, just not sure why Oprah has shockingly embraced this liberal train of thought. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. Luke 12:48 – KJVromia31
Its a must read. If it can change some of my views in life especially when needing to engage with negative, egotistical or just angry all over people, this is a whole other way of comuticating with others. Taught me its not necessarily where they are in their temporment. It helps so much where we are at, in our most inner core. That could change so many circumstances. Out of all the books in my life this is in my top 3. I'm 65 now. I read it aprox 5yrs ago & saw the shows on Oprah. I have read it twice marking it up all over. Ive tried to gather a few other people to do a book club just to read "A New Earth" finally I just found 3 people excited to read it with me. I've even volunteered to gift the box to them. As Ive gifted many with it.Emma

Reviews:
good info for anyone as we all have a calling we just need to discover it.tennisprons
In a slew of self help or growth books for christians this one is unique. I do not believe the author wrote it to be either of the preceding but wrote it with a deep understanding of our purpose. It is not a hard book but you will not breeze through it (nor will you want to). It will definitely cause you to reflect deeply about your relationship with Christ as opposed to merely calling yourself a christian. The book details why we were made and casts aside the "secular" and "religious" life. To put it in a nutshell this book should be a must read for all christians. If you could only have one other book beside the Bible this would be a great choice.mofisk
This is an excellent resource for someone who is searching for meaning and purpose for their life. It's easy reading that allows you to plumb depths you wouldn't ordinarily consider. Good book for your library.halchaser
