I am extremely disappointed. I would give this product zero stars if it allowed. I have used this exact product many times before – even on the same jewelry – but when I opened a new container and placed a couple of rings and earrings in and used as directed, my jewelry was ruined. As stated, I’ve used this product on these same pieces of jewelry many times. However, this time resulted in multiple stones falling out of my rings and left them with an erosive appearance. My jewelry is no longer wearable, and I had to dump the cleaner out even though it was my first time using it! Not only did it ruin my precious jewelry, but I realized that the one I was sent didn’t even have the brush that is supposed to come with it! I will never buy this product again. I will be in search of a better, more reliable product because it is not worth damaging my jewelry over. I would avoid this product if I were you and if you care about your jewelry!targetobsessed16

GREAT product, the best for small silver objects (not large plates) whatever will fit into the container, tarnish will disappear from any object in about 3 seconds, cannot use with delicate materials though like lacquered or dyed polished opal or pearls or glazed precious stones because it will take the lacquer and dye off. The container says not to use for gold but I have good luck with solid gold also, best to use the gold cleaner they make for that. The fluid does collect dirt over time; one container will work for hundreds of uses over a year's time. I replace mine about once/year.abetterplace

Great silver jewelry cleaner! Some reviewers complained about the rotten egg type of smell of the cleaner and thought it was spoiled and they threw it away. That smell indicates the cleaner is working. Yes, it is a gross smell, but the more tarnished your silver jewelry is, the more the cleaner is going to smell. That means it is working. I have another silver jewelry cleaner that has no odor to it at all, and it doesn’t even begin to clean my sterling silver jewelry. This is a great cleaner. This is a gentle, yet effective cleaner so it won't harm your items, but gives great results and it is very easy to use. I just put my ring into the basket inside the jar and swirled it around for 90 seconds, as recommended. It comes with a brush so I used that while rinsing my ring with water. That was it! Like any chemical product, it does recommend you to keep the product out of the reach of children since it does contain ammonia. It also warns "DO NOT USE on coral, ivory, amber, malachite, pearls, opals, jade or turquoise". I bought this for $3.49 on Alice.com, but have not seen it in any other stores as of yet. Used as directed to clean rings and necklaces – didn't seem to make any difference then when cleaned with soap and water. To be fair I was cleaning silver and it was not listed. Maybe this stuff doesn't do well with silver. To be a concentrate you need to use a large amount. I think I will find something else.aericb

I was skeptical at first but after reading some of the reviews I ordered one to try. It really does work!! Said goodbye to the giant jar of jewelry cleaner which I hated using because it was messy and I needed to soak the jewelry, then brush it, then soak it again etc., Now I have this little pen that takes up way less space with the cleaner and brush all-in-one. This was my second time purchasing this cleaner for my diamonds. Realistically, I suppose an old toothbrush and dish soap (or maybe toothpaste)? BUT… I like that this is all in one unit and I don't have to hunt down extra supplies. I hadn't noticed how dully diamonds were getting, nor had I noticed the buildup of hand lotion beneath the stones. This cleaned everything and I couldn't BELIEVE how sparkly they were when I was done. Take the cap off, run water over the brush end, and twist the base to push the cleaner up. I also rinsed my rings. Then I used the brush to scrub under and around the diamonds. Then I rinsed and dried my rings. I also rinsed the brush off and put the cap back on. Oh my gosh I cannot say enough good things about this product. I had a couple pieces of Tiffany's jewelry that got extremely dirty to the point where I wouldn't even wear them anymore. I made the mistake of storing them with some other low quality necklaces and it just completely ruined them (or so I thought). I tried polishing them with a lint free polishing cloth, but it didn't help. …and then I found this stuff! I purchased at a local Walmart for only (don't quote me on this) $7 or $8. I wasn't very hopeful because I was convinced that I ruined my jewelry. The packaging is wonderful and extremely convenient to use. Inside the plastic jar, there is a stick like mechanism in the center and when you pull it up it is surrounded by a tray with very fine holes so your jewelry can't fall through. You lift ip the tray and place your jewelry on it,then you lower the tray/jewelry into the solution. Since I had some very dingy looking jewelry, I left it in the solution for the maximum amount of time (10 seconds). I removed it from the tray with a lint free wipe (made by red carpet manicure) that are actually intended to use for nail polish remover. I then wiped the jewelry clean of the solution. I literally watched a dirty, unwearable and slightly tarnished piece of jewelry turn into a beautifully polished and clean piece that I couldn't wait to wear again! I quickly grabbed all my other sterling silver pieces so I could "restore" them back to their original beauty:) That being said, I highly recommend this product to anyone who has some sterling silver laying around that needs a good cleaning. You will be so happy with the finished product! I couldn't believe my eyes after using this solution. Like I said, I had given up hope of getting them back to what they initially looked like. This was a gift to my wife. Now, she no longer has to drive to the jewelry store to have her jewelry cleaned. We are both retired clinical laboratorians and familiar with sonicators. This is a nice unit, and performs exactly as advertised and expected. If we had to purchase it all over again, we would purchase it again. But, of course, there's no need. This is small. It does a beautiful job! It includes a list of hard vs. soft stones & it does advise against using the ultrasonic cleaning with porous stones or stones with elusions. It's very quick & quiet. It works well with just water & a little dish soap. I had forgotten how beautiful freshly cleaned gems are! I purchased this to replace a decent older sharper image unit, and expected it to clean just as well. I clean the jewelry I wear each day, and always get compliments because my pieces sparkle. I was pleasantly surprised when my earrings, rings, etc., actually came out with more sparkle, and my gold watch band looks unbelievable. Wow! Nice surprise! I do add a bit of liquid detergent to some water, (and don't tell anyone…), I also add some ammonia, although the instructions say not to. A jeweler friend told me about this combo, and it honestly works the best. The only cons I see at this point are that the top doesn't pop up as it should when the knob is pressed ~ don't know if it is a flaw or just the way the units work, but it is a little difficult to pull the top up. Also, it is not easy to remove the basket to rinse the pieces of jewelry before placing out to dry; I think a little protruding plastic piece would be helpful. OK so I read the reviews before purchasing and I knew it didn't get the best, however I was desperate to clean my rings so I figured, worst case scenario if it doesn't work, I'll return it and splurge on something better. I did a couple of things differently that really made this product WORK. First, I spread the cleaner over the rings (engagement ring and wedding bands) and rather than immediately wiping/cleaning the rings, I let it sit in the cleaner for 10-15 minutes. Not sure if that's good for the rings or not but my rings turned out SPARKLING. Then, rather than using the brush to clean the rings, I used a dry, soft wash cloth to wipe off the tarnish/dirt and then washed the rings off. Honestly, I'm giving it 4/5 because it doesn't say to do either of these things and I think that's why everyone is giving this product bad reviews. For $9, I personally think it's worth it! My rings look brand new, you just have to let the cleaner do it's thing for 10-15 minutes and then wipe it off with something better than that brush they give you. I'd definitely recommend this!LD

I bought this thinking that it was a new and improved version of the classic tarnish removing solution, which I don't like using because of the smell. The packaging says that your jewelry will sparkle like new, and I erroneously believed that included tarnished jewelry. I even let my most tarnished pieces sit in the solution for an hour to give it the best shot. What it really is is jewelry specific soap, and while it seemed to do a good job cleaning grime off my jewelry it doesn't make a difference when you have sparkling gems on tarnished metal. She found the best mixture for her jewelry is one part liquid jewelry cleaner to 6 parts water at 180 seconds. This is my first ultrasonic cleaner, so I cannot give a comparison to others. However, so far I am very happy with this one. I like the basket that you can lift out , the timer that can be extented to 8 minutes, the quiet operation and the that it cleans my essential oil and blend bottles.Karin W

Unfortunately, it just does not work . I actually bought it to clean my eye glasses as I was tired of buying lense wipes. The jewelry cleaning would have been a plus. It does neither. The eye glasses came out smeary and the jewelry came out the same as it went in and I had to clean the stones with an old toothbrush. I cleaned my glasses every day with windex. I thought every day that my glasses were clean. The first time I put my glasses in this cleaner, the water was black. Didn't know they were so dirty, because everyday I cleaned them This is so easy to use. Add water, put you glasses in the basket, and turn the cleaner on for 5, 10 or 15 minutes. You can see the light through the glass top. When the machine stops, take your glasses out, rinse under water. Wipe the glasses and your done. My sight is so much better with really clean glasses. I usually change the water every 2-3 days as there is more than myself that use this machine.Jim

I purchased this product to clean my glasses which were always dirty. This ultrasonic cleaner did a great job cleaning the lenses as well as the frame. I have used only water and find that the lenses after cleaning are just a bit cloudy due to chemicals in the water but with the provided microfiber cloth I am able to produce a clean lens like that provided by the technicians at the eye glasses store. I love the result. As an added benefit, I dipped the metal band on my watch into the water while it was running. Wow, you could see the dirt and grime falling off and discoloring the water. So, this product can be used to clean small parts, jewelry etc. Keep watch mechanism out of the water even though it might be water resistant to 20 or more feet.John

Its ok. You have to dry the glasses after the ultra sound cleaning. You have to empty water periodically. Using a spray and wiping glasses seems to get similar results in less time and effort.Mike JC

The dip works really well and quickly, and your silver will be even more shiny if you give it a polish with the cloth. Read the instructions, the dip is not suitable for everything. It even improved fine chains that were quite black. The tarnish didn't come off 100% but they look a lot better.80pp3r

This is nothing like as efficient as the silver dip I remember from 40 years ago. It did remove slight yellow tarnishing from some jewellery findings after 4 minutes but some more heavily tarnished items were left in the solution for 2 hours; whilst it did not damage them it did not remove the tarnish to an acceptable standard and I had to get out a silver polish to finish the job.1995jayne

This Steamfast Jule jewelery steamer is a great device for some items. It's pretty easy to use and set up and the force of steam is very strong. It's easy to activate the steam with a little effort just pushing the button. I noticed noticed bits of dirt blown out of my jewelry right onto the machine. I didn't even know my jewelry was that dirty. So I know it doesn't excellent job of cleaning. I like the little cup that catches the extra water makes it easy to clean up. I didn't care for the fact that I have to empty all the water out by dumping it out the top hole. The tweezers are conveniently stored in a notch in the back of the machine, so it's great that everything is together. I just found that the tweezers didn't work that great. With the force of the steam it's kind of hard to hold your jewelry still with the long tweezers. I ended up using a pair of hemostats to hold my rings and earrings. That way it didn't blow right out of the tweezers. I also really wanted to clean my necklaces, but I have not found an easy way to do it. I wish I had some kind of maybe metal basket that I could put under the steam, otherwise there's no real way to hold a necklace still while you steam clean it. I really like that the machine lights up right in the area of where you're cleaning the jewelry, it makes it so much easier to see. In the bottle that comes with it to fill the machine holds a perfect amount of water and makes it pouring water in the hole very easy. I was grateful for the book that came with it that told me what stones or metals could or could not be steam cleaned. Unfortunately there's quite a bit that can't be, so I wasn't able to use this on all my jewelry. But overall it's a great machine and does do a good job of cleaning. And I'm sure I'll find a way to get my necklace cleaned, I just need to find the right device to hold it. The SF-1000 Jule Steam Jewelry cleaner does a great job maintaining the beauty of my jewelry. It is very simple to use. I just add water with the convenient water cup that comes with it, turn it on and let it build up into steam. There is a blue light that comes on that lets me know when it is ready for use. I like that I have the option to do short bursts of steam, or I can set it to do a solid stream of steam. There is a catch basin that will accumulate the steam so that I don’t have a mess all over my counters. The machine comes with tweezers that are conveniently held to the back of the unit so that they do not get lost. These are necessary to prevent burns to fingers. The steam really helps to loosen up any grime on my rings so that they look like new again. I still use a little brush to help clean out the lotion from my rings, but the steam helps to loosen it well. The unit itself is small enough to store it under my bathroom sink. I've used ultrasonic cleaners of all sizes for 40+ years in my work, and this little unit does a decent job within its physical capacity at reasonable cost. Just recognize that it has limited power and may need extended time to handle difficult cleaning jobs. You won't be happy if you are trying to push volumes of work through it, and it does not claim any such capability. Use an appropriate cleaning agent and give it time to do the work.CaseysDad

After returning 2 of the sonic cleaners I ordered from a different company I ordered two of these from BB&B one for a gift and one for me. I have been happy with the job it does. It sure works a lot better than the original (different brand) ones I bought and returned. I asked if the bottle of cleaner came with the machine and was told NO. When they arrived they both had a bottle of the cleaner in the box. Plus this cleaner has a larger well than the others. In short I think this cleaner is very good for the money.
