Reviews:
I love this book. I had bought one for my cousins 21st birthday as a gift and then ended up getting myself one as well after flipping through hers. I took one star off because if you’re a vodka drinker, you will be disappointed by the lack of vodka recipes. I think I counted 3 or 4 in the whole book, 2 of which are basic martinis. But it’s inspired me to try some gin recipes and I like that they include a pic with each recipe.Jelijort
This is a great cocktail book! Wide range of recipes, photos of each drink & some basic info in the beginning. Would highly recommend for experienced & novice makers. Bought it as a gift & liked it so much bought another for me!Liz
The pictures with every recipe are helpful. My husband has used it to recreate his favorite drinks from restaurants.KIM

i like the book. i bought the book to get informatin about mixing drinks and barendering. the book is very useful and alot of recipes.robertp05
I decided to buy this book because I wanted a quick reference to new drinks. When I recieved this book, and started flipping through the pages, I realized I got way more than what I payed for. This book is perfect for bartenders with all levels of experience, because it's got a giant selection of drinks from all stretches of the liquor (or non-liquor) world. It's very well organized, which makes finding drinks in a hurry easy. It's got a great glossary with all definitions for the new bartender, serving tips, and an EXCELLENT index, where you can look for drinks either by the main ingredient, or the name of the drink. This book also includes non-alcoholic beverages, and shots. This book is very user friendly, and quite the steal for any bartender- beginner or professional. This is more of a cocktail book, so I recommend pairing it up with a book specialized in shots. Big Bad Ass Book of Shots is a good one. I'm very pleased with this book, and if you buy it, I know you will be as well.dia_in_texas

Product Details:
Cocktails are bigger than ever, and this is the first real cookbook for them, covering the entire breadth of this rich subject. the craft of the cocktail provides much more than merely the same old recipes: it delves into history, personalities, and anecdotes; it shows you how to set up a bar, master important techniques, and use tools correctly; and it delivers unique concoctions, many featuring dale degroff's signature use of fresh juices, as well as all the classics.debonair, a great raconteur, and an unparalleled authority, dale degroff is the epitome of perfect bartender, universally acknowledged as the world's premier mixologist. from entertainment weekly and usa today to the culinary institute of america and the nation's best restaurants, whenever anybody wants information or training on the bar, they turn to dale for recipes, for history, for anecdotes, for fun—for cocktail-party conversation as well as for cocktails.that's what the craft of the cocktail is—the full party, conversation and all. it begins with the history of spirits, how they're made (but without too much boring science), the development of the mixed drink, and the culture it created, all drawn from dale's vast library of vintage cocktail books. then on to stocking the essential bar, choosing the right tools and ingredients, mastering key techniques—hints worthy of a pro, the same information that dale shares with the bartenders he trains in seminars and through his videos. and then the meat of the matter: 500 recipes, including everything from tried-and-true classics to of-the-moment originals. throughout are rich stories, vintage recipes, fast facts, and other entertaining asides. beautiful color photographs and a striking design round out the cookbook approach to this subject, highlighting the difference between an under-the-bar handbook and a stylish, full-blown treatment. the craft of the cocktail is that treatment, destined to become the bible of the bar.

I definitely recommend this world bartender guide! It has all types of recipes that I haven't heard of before, which led to my wife and I attempting to make a new drink every night for a month. Given the number of recipes, we could do it for far longer!Shaun R.
