Reviews:
Absolutely love read the first three within barely three days, extremely addictive all you want to do it continue the book. Wish there was more.MayVik
the books are incredible love them. you shouldered them. but when got the books in the mail all of them had a small circle the cover advertising a book. so annoying and does not make the books as attractiveJohn
My niece gave my daughter the first book in this series. My daughter became enthralled instantly. She has never read a whole book series and usually sticks to graphic novels. She will occasionally read a chapter book but not often. She begged for this full series. I was delighted to oblige her. It was out of stock most places and she was visible shaken at the thought of there being a time lapse between her reading each book! I thought, wow, this is good. I’ve been waiting for a series to really capture her attention like this and expand her reading away from graphic novels some. Not that I don’t like them but I wanted her to see how enjoyable bigger, wordier books can be. I found the series here on Target ready to ship! We even got it a day early which was perfect because she had just finished the 1st book. That was a little over a week ago and she’s already on the 4th book. She is so proud of herself and so in love with these books. I believe some themes may be a bit mature in these. I’ve only read about 30 pages of the companion novel to the selection set (1st three books). It’s called happily ever after and sold separately. I think it is fine for my daughter as she’s read some books already with very mature themes. She is 11 and a half. Like anything else, you are the best judge of what’s appropriate for your child, there are plenty of excerpts online to read a few pages.Miesh

Reviews:
You was interesting and highly engrossing from the very beginning. I enjoyed that the story is from 2nd narration. The story is a little bit creepy, but not too creepy. It does feature lots of stalking, violence, and murder, just so people are aware before starting the book.Peppermint1991
This was definitely very different than what I have ever read before. Creepy. Odd. Messes up with your mind but addicting. This book is not for everyone. *Note: I read this way before the TV series came out. Still haven't watched it yet.I am so conflicted in whether I like or hate Joe Goldberg. He is a creepy, smart, psychotic stalker. I should dislike him for that but sometimes I don't. He is a hopeless romantic that needs help. But I don't think any help will actually help him. He knows what he is doing therefore none of his actions are acceptable. Joe meets Guinevere Beck at the bookstore he works at and is instantly obsessed. He will do anything for her, and he does. Every other character in this book isn't any better than him in a way. Yes they don't stalk and hurt people but their actions and personality aren't the greatest either. This book is a crazy read. It will make you so conflicted because you will hate yourself for liking this guy.tiffany.l
Received a copy of this novel as an advanced reader edition in my store a month or two before the release date. While I lay hands on nearly every new release of the year, this one immediately caught my attention and I took it home to read. I found the use of the 2nd person pov a refreshing perspective and was instantly caught up in a love affair with the narrator – his keen wit, unconventional viewpoints and social awkwardness were very endearing. A little into the novel, I started thinking "This guy might be a little creepy." A little further, I started thinking, "Yeah…this guy is kinda creepy.". A little further, and I realize, "Yes. Yes, this guy is definitely a creeper," but yet I'm still somewhat enthralled. His actions and conclusions seem so normal and such a matter-of-course to him, it's very easy to sympathize and see him as the victim rather than the victimizer. I sometimes hesitate to recommend this book to customers as it's so incredibly creepy, but if you are a mature reader with a love for psychological thrillers, this book is an absolute must read!Lisa, GM

Reviews:
My Review: American Singer lives in a world where rankings rule. The higher your ranking the poorer you are and the less you contribute to society. For America she and her family are 5's and life is hard barely having enough food or money to support the family. However their lives just might change forever. 35 girls are in competition with each other to win the heart of Prince Maxon and wear the crown. For America the Selection is a nightmare how can she possibly love someone like Maxon? Especially when her heart is committed to someone else? All right so I have some mixed feelings about this book. First off I want to say that I always try my best to never compares books. But sometimes those thoughts creep up and there's nothing you can do to stop them. All I could think about during the first few chapters of this book was how it echoed Amiee Carter's Pawn. I was going to list a few similarities but I decided against that. I have the 50 page rule if I do not like the book within 50 pages I move on. But thank goodness I gave it a try! While those similarities were hard to get past and mind kept going back to Pawn the rest of the book was amazing! The farther in the book the less those similarities kind of faded a little so I was able to get into the book much better. During the last 5 or so chapters I had a hard time putting the book down I had to see what would happen next. I loved the Bachelor aspect of the book and it was just a very good read. However there was something that annoyed me to now end and reading other reviews of this book I know I'm not alone. The names. The names in this book drive me batty! While some are not too bad like Sylvia America Celeste. Others just made my skin crawl when I read them they were a little on the silly side like New Asia Amberly and Sosie to name a few. Something else that bothered me was the use of whisper-yelled I thought when it was used it was again on the silly side. Overall though the book was really a good read I already have the 2nd book in the series waiting for me to read and I'm excited to so. I'm rooting for America and Maxon to fall in love! I think America is too good for Aspen I think he's just playing games with her. Positive Elements: America is a strong young woman. Negative Elements: America's mother is so high strung and can come off rude on occasion. She seems to want nothing more in life than to run America's life and it seems that no matter what she and her family have it never is enough. There were a few swear words in the book like hell and dam*. Spiritual Elements: During one of the rebel attacks some of the Selected were praying. Other Thoughts: This really was a good read and can't wait to see what is in store for America.Elizabeth Marie (Enchanted Book
The Selection was such a surprise to me, and a great book to read! I'm not quite sure what I expected, but as soon as I flipped through the first page, I couldn't stop. (I sucked these books in, in a matter of hours. Whoops.) To set the scene, the country has become a "seemingly organized" (yet unorganized) place where the people revolve around a caste system. The system ranks people and families from one to eight–one being very rich (the royal family) and eight being very poor (usually having jobs as house cleaners, etc.). The Selection is an event where the Prince gets to choose his future bride. Women all over the country submit their applications and 35 are chosen (Yes, it is basically The Bachelor, rewritten). America Singer, our heroine of the story, is a five in the caste system. She's smart, witty, feisty and most importantly, wants nothing to do with The Selection. She's found true love, she has a talent and provides support to her family, and she sees no reason for anything to change. Her mother begs her to enter her name, as entering and winning would not only mean a status change for America, but for her family as well. Any girls in The Selection also receive checks sent to their families to help out while they are away. America, however, would rather be with her true love, Aspen (who is a six in the caste system). Forbidden to be together, they have kept their relationship a secret from family and friends. However, Aspen wants more for her and wills her to give The Selection a try, to submit her application as a "what if". SURPRISE. America gets chosen to be one of the thirty-five girls selection for The Selection. (Didn't see that coming did you?) She has to adjust to new lifestyles, new friends (and enemies), and to what her heart is trying to tell her to do. Of course, being her feisty self, her and the Prince, Maxon, don't always hit it off in the best of ways, but where would be the fun if they did? AMERICA : I loved America. I felt like she was a very strong-willed heroine. She's also kind and unselfish, wanting to stay in The Selection as long as possible to help provide for her family and get some distance from Aspen, who's back in her home town. Her feelings and emotions felt real and connected and she seemed so strong, yet she was struggling with things I felt like I'd be struggling with too if I was in her shoes. MAXON : Prince Maxon is a heartthrob, of course. He seems genuinely nice, well-rounded and just as confused from the whole event as the rest of the girls are. With hidden secrets of his own, he's a character I'm sure we will see growing as the series carries on. I found myself routing for America to just fall in love with him already, since his feelings towards her are quite clear from the beginning. Why couldn't this book just be three rolled into one! It left me needing to know more as the competition narrowed down to six girls. I thought this was a great read and I'd recommend it to anyone trying to find something new.chanon.c
I don’t enjoy reading very much, but this book was actually really enjoyable. I sat down for hours ignoring the rest of the world while I read, and I was so excited to keep reading. They are coming out with a movie soon as well. I definitely recommend for everyone that loves a little romance novel!Queen

A quick and easy read of the first book in the Shatter Me series. A book full of romance, emotions and super powers. And a handsome villain. Shatter Me welcomes you into a dystopian world where people are captured for their gifts and locked up till your death. Our main character goes on a trip of self discovery and traumatic events that sets her journey for the rest of the series.LILLIE
I read this series when I was 15 and was thinking about how much I enjoyed them, so ordered them again at 20 and remembered why. Definitely written for a YA audience (I have obviously grown since then and can recognise this now) but doesn't change the magic in her writing and the emotion and excitement on every page. I love this series, I love this author, and I'm keeping them around to re-read again in another few years!Ellie

Following Shatter Me, this is the second book in the series. The second book is even better than the first. You get emerged into the tale and your connection to the characters grow even more. Nothing is at seems in this series and you will end up being hooked!Susan
This series was a little slow to get going for me, but once it did, I couldn't put it down! This book, the 2nd in the series, has DECKLED EDGES that ARE NOT walmart's fault (eye roll at the other review). I'm not a fan of deckled edges, but it seems the hardcover version of this book is only available that way.Christy829

I loved the characters in these books so much. It's a fabulous story full of Witches, Vampires, demons, and history all spun into a grown up fantasy. No kid stuff in this book!Marianna
I got the first book from the library and was so invested, I had to buy the set. If you like witches, vampires and demons this are the books for you! Making all three creatures interact, in a good way, with humans, time travel, dispelling myths and creating new ones are just a tiny part of these enthralling books!Kas
I saw the 1st Season & just loved it! The show is really well made, the story line is great, the characters & actors are also great! It is not boring in any way, it keeps you interested. In short, I think this is just a Great Movie, I enjoyed it & can't wait for Season 2 to watch. So I saw that " A Discovery of Witches " The All Souls Trilogy Boxed Set was available for me to read & so I bought a Set. The 2nd Season is not out yet in the US.xangor1

The five books were amazing but the sixth book (fallen in love) came in bad quality as if each page had been photo copied on and was small for the page and it wasn’t an original copy. The other 5 were great quality though- like brand new!Tasnim K.

Reviews:
THE FAMILY UPSTAIRS by Lisa Jewell is told from the point of view of three characters: Libby, Henry and Lucy as well as two time periods. Libby Jones has turned twenty-five and receives a letter that tells her the identity of her birth parents and that she has inherited their old mansion in a ritzy area of London. The plot is set mainly in England and France. Twenty-five years ago, the police found a baby and three dead adults in the mansion. The other people that lived there are gone, including several children. Was it suicide, murder or a combination of both? Where are the other people that lived in the house? What was really happening in this mansion? The plot is clever and shocking, but it does switch POV and timelines throughout the book. Despite this not being my favorite style of writing, it is a tribute to Jewell's talent that I still felt it deserved 4 stars. The story is dark, twisted and disturbing as well as being a page-turner. The characters are complex with more depth to them that most authors can inject in a trilogy. While this is the first book I have read by Jewell, I look forward to reading more of her novels. Many thanks to Atria Books, Lisa Jewell and Net Galley for a digital ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.lynguy1
When twenty five year old Libby opens her mailbox. She finds a letter that she knows is going to finally tell her who she is! She has been waiting for this letter all of her life and is surprised to find that the letter brings one huge shock instead of answers. She finds out that she has inherited a house worth millions. While she finds out who she is..the road to discovery leads her down a lot of different paths. 🏚️ I loved the way this story was told! There were multiple perspectives that ranged from the past and present and had me SO confused for the longest time. I kind of loved it 😆 The writing was really well done and I feel like the characters were developed enough to make you sort of understand them, but still with so much mystery left! While I didn't find the story overwhelmingly shocking I still liked it a lot and was surprised by some aspects. I moreso really enjoyed hearing about the living situation in the past and the mind games! The mental health and abuse in the story is really what drew me in, I was so intrigued that I needed to know what was going to happen. I would definitely recommend this one if you are into mysteries and can handle reading about emotional abuse. I will definitely be checking out Jewell's other novels.Samantha
Such an original storyline. I love how easily the author pulls you into the characters lives. She smoothly blends between past and present while introducing the individuals-no confusion or needing to flip back in the book to keep them straight. I love it when the book sucks you into the story so well you enjoy it from cover to cover. This is one of those books.PAULETTE

Reviews:
Great story; one of Stephen King's best. The book is small, easy to hold and the print is big enough to keep your eyes comfortable. You might have nightmares afterwards though. A beautiful package!junkietroll5865
I read this book for the first time a few years ago! It took me 2 weeks to finish it but I could not put it down! Plus every time I would read the book, I had the worst nightmares of my life! Nightmares not from the book! The way he writes this book is incredible !Jerrica

Love the book, loved the story even more! I would have given it 5 stars, but it had a long smudge stain on one of the pages going from the main characters face down to a dialogue bubble. Other than that, it was great. The story kept me on the edge of seat and my heart was pounding loudly with suspense of what was to come.Lulu
A thriller and very mature novel that will leave you reading more, definitely going to be purchasing all the volumes.Brook

19. The Appeal: A Novel [Book]
Product Details:
International bestseller winner of the cwa new blood dagger award “[w]itty, original…a delight.” —the new york times perfect for fans of ruth ware and lisa jewell, this international bestseller and “dazzlingly clever” (the sunday times, london) murder mystery follows a community rallying around a sick child—but when escalating lies lead to a dead body, everyone is a suspect.the fairway players, a local theatre group, is in the midst of rehearsals when tragedy strikes the family of director martin hayward and his wife helen, the play’s star. their young granddaughter has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, and with an experimental treatment costing a tremendous sum, their castmates rally to raise the money to give her a chance at survival. but not everybody is convinced of the experimental treatment’s efficacy—nor of the good intentions of those involved. as tension grows within the community, things come to a shocking head at the explosive dress rehearsal. the next day, a dead body is found, and soon, an arrest is made. in the run-up to the trial, two young lawyers sift through the material—emails, messages, letters—with a growing suspicion that the killer may be hiding in plain sight. the evidence is all there, between the lines, waiting to be uncovered. a wholly modern and gripping take on the epistolary novel, the appeal is a “daring…clever, and funny” (the times, london) debut for fans of richard osman and lucy foley.

It is a.very good bookELAINE
The Appeal by Janice Hallett is her debut novel and its epistolary format may tempt amateur sleuths to work alongside the two junior lawyers tasked with sorting through emails, texts, newspaper clippings, social media activity, messages, letters, and police reports which make up the narrative of the book to answer the senior partner's questions which change over time. As Olufemi (Femi) Hassan and Charlotte Holroyd read, took notes, and sorted through the various information, so did I. They are kept in the dark initially as to the true nature of the case and it is best that readers go in without all of the details as well. A local theatre group, The Fairway Players, are getting ready for Arthur Miller's play, All My Sons, when tragedy strikes the family of Martin Hayward, the director, and his wife, Helen, the play's star. Their granddaughter has been diagnosed with a form of cancer. An experimental treatment costing a large amount of money may be the only thing to save her life. Their friends and colleagues support them by babysitting, dog-sitting, and fundraising. However, accusations, fights, and a dead body bring a mystery to life. The large cast of characters that required notes as I attempted to uncover the truth and answer the senior partner's questions. Some of the correspondence is just gossip and others provide key information if one reads them carefully while others seem enigmatic or irrelevant. But are they? The plot is clever and somewhat convoluted, requiring more notes to keep things straight. The epistolary dialogue is well-crafted. Overall, this was suspenseful with compelling characters that engaged my inner sleuth and kept me turning the pages. The occasional humor helped as well. Atria Books and Janice Hallett provided a digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
