This is suited to an older reader as it takes a lot of care to look after this book. Although it is a cute book, it's not very well written. It's also difficult to "hold". The outer cover slips off, and the hard cover is essentially blank (making it an unknown book of that cover comes off). The second to last page, being a double fold out is an odd place to have this. It stops the flow of the book. Overall, NOT toddler friendly. My children do like it, so it is begrudgedly read.Sam
I bought this book to give to my daughter for her high school graduation. As a teacher I've signed several books for parents who plan to get the child's teacher each year to write a little note in it then present it to them when they graduate high school. I personally missed out on the idea for my own children. When I picked up this book and began to read it I knew I had to get it for my daughter, the last one to graduate. A wonderful book allowing the readers to have fun while teaching young children to follow directions. I purchased this book from a school book fair one year not realizing how much enjoyment my family would have reading this book. I have never seen my grand children laugh so hard as we sat around the table and enjoyed following the directions inside this book. I think it was because of the size, the illustration, the die cut windows and the sound you make when you read it. My 2-year-old loves this book and so do I!! We read it every night and it's wonderful. The pictures are so detailed on every page and accurate. It's pretty long for a kid's book too, but we mainly look at the pictures. My kid has learned a lot of new words and connects what's in the book to what's outside in our garden. These books are fantastic for kids who love cause and effect and/or pressing buttons. My one year old loves them! We have many different versions and I love that there are smaller ones for younger kids and this slightly larger version as they get older. This type is larger and heavier so my one year old can’t do it on his own but there is a smaller kind he can easily do himself.heather.m
