Reviews:
American Mafia has been subjected to various directions and books. This book covers the spectacular age of mobs in Las Vegas when they moved this place into grandiose heaven. The text includes different interesting tales of mobsters who remade Las Vega's history with illegitimate exercises. Prostitution, casinos, crime and murder were at their height. Several interviews have been cited in the text which tells the story of these mobsters in Las Vegas. The most interesting thing which grabs the attention of the readers is the real stories of every mob mentioned in the text. Every interviewee describes the whole story of a mobster indulged in crime and bloodshed. I can bet you will choose some of the stories as your favourite ones even if it's about crime and corruption. Mark W. Curran has given his readers a worthy text which will surely occupy their thought.Abeeha

O'Reilly always tells a story with a historical perspective. All of his books are worth reading.tcraft10
From the "Team" O'Reilly & Dugard, another "Killing" Book that will give an insight into the Mafia of America, as well as those who surrounded them both "friend, foe, protagonist", that either "fed off" and/or "fought against" an entrenched Group of People, who ruled the "underworld" of America. 9. Family Secrets: The Case That Crippled The Chicago Mob [Book]

Product Details:
Even in chicago, a city steeped in mob history and legend, the family secrets case was a true spectacle when it made it to court in 2007. a top mob boss, a reputed consigliere, and other high-profile members of the chicago outfit were accused in a total of eighteen gangland killings, revealing organized crime’s ruthless grip on the city throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. painting a vivid picture of murder, courtroom drama, family loyalties and disloyalties, journalist jeff coen accurately portrays the chicago outfit’s cold-blooded–and sometimes incompetent–killers and their crimes in the case that brought them down. in 1998 frank calabrese jr. volunteered to wear a wire to gather evidence against his father, a vicious loan shark who strangled most of his victims with a rope before slitting their throats to ensure they were dead. frank jr. went after his uncle nick as well, a calculating but sometimes bumbling hit man who would become one of the highest-ranking turncoats in mob history, admitting he helped strangle, stab, shoot, and bomb victims who got in the mob’s way, and turning evidence against his brother frank. the chicago courtroom took on the look and feel of a movie set as chicago’s most colorful mobsters and their equally flamboyant attorneys paraded through and performed: james “jimmy light” marcello, the acting head of the chicago mob; joey “the clown” lombardo, one of chicago’s most eccentric mobsters; paul “the indian” schiro; and a former chicago police officer, anthony “twan” doyle, among others. re-creating events from court transcripts, police records, interviews, and notes taken day after day as the story unfolded in court, coen provides a riveting wide-angle view and one of the best accounts on record of the inner workings of the chicago syndicate and its control over the city’s streets.

The accounts of the events are well documented and facts as covered are mostly on target. Overall, it is totally obvious that the writer, author has done an excellent job of researching and utilizing respectble investigative procedures. Details are clear and compelling. Good Work!mingoman1
I loved this book! This book is a great read! It makes you want to not put it down, would highly recommend!aka_babykitty-kat
Jeff Coen did an excellent job getting the facts straight in this book. Other writers may take liberties with material to make a story more exciting but that is not the approach of this reporter/author. He lets the facts speak for themselves and lets you draw your own conclusions and opinions of those events. If you want outrageous tv or movie stylized dramatization, then look elsewhere.ranamabe

15. Blood Covenant: The Story Of The Mafia Prince Who Publicly Quit The Mob And Lived [Book]

Product Details:
"just a few years ago, mafia boss, michael franzese was named one of the biggest money earners the mob had seen since al capone, by vanity fair. at the age of 35, fortune magazine listed him as number 18 on its list of the fifty most wealthy and powerful mafia bosses?, just 5 behind john gotti. avoiding traditional mob domains, michael masterminded brilliant scams on the edge of the legitimate business world. from auto dealerships and union kickbacks, to financial services and the sports and entertainment industries, to a multi-billion dollar gasoline tax scheme, he earned millions in cash every week at his peak. not surprisingly, michael quickly became the target of manhattan's famed federal prosecutor, rudy guiliani. after promising michael 100 years behind bars after indicting him on racketeering charges, rudy only came up empty handed. escaping four more indictments, it seemed michael franzese truly was invincible. while producing knights of the city, a break dance movie filmed in florida, michael met a beautiful dancer from anaheim, california, named camille garcia, whose innocent beauty turned his world upside down. after falling in love and eventually marrying cammy, she convinced michael to take the rap on racketeering charges. michael pled guilty, accepted a 10 year prison sentence and vowed to do the unthinkable walk away from the mob. nobody of franzese's rank had ever just walked away and lived. until now. michael franzese is the only high ranking official of a major crime family to ever walk away, without protective custodies, and survive. he is now a man on a mission. determined to use the compelling experiences of his former life for the benefit of corporate executives, professional and student athletes, at-risk youth, church audiences, and for anyone seeking the inspiration to beat the odds and make positive changes in their lives, he has become a highly regarded motivator and a source of invaluable information. franzese candidly describes how he survived dozens of grand jury appearances, 5 major racketeering indictments, 5 criminal trials, 7 years in prison and a mafia death sentence. he tells how he engaged bankers, corporate executives, union officials and professional and student athletes in a wide variety of financial scams. his open and honest presentations are fresh and unique.

I saw Michael Franzese at Grace Family Church in October and his testimony for Christ was so compelling I went out a bought a few copies to send to prisoners that I do legal advocate work for. Great story, inspiring to the Christian and soon to be one.creoleprincess04
We watched the Netflix series The American Mob and also heard Michael Francess interviewed by Eric Metaxas. We were very interested in his conversion to Christianity and getting out of his oath to La Cosa Nostra alive.sewdove77

Delves deeper than other "Mafia" books I've read before and gives some info I've never seen before.harryhaitchb
A very thorough and complete history of the Mafia in NYC. Selwyn Raab researched this from every angle imaginable, from court documents to interviews with the people who testified for the government to the FBI and police officers that worked the cases. There were details in this book that I have never read of in any of the other 50 plus Mafia books that I have read before this one. There is close to 600 pages in the book but it is a very fast read. You won't want to put this book down.carissa.d
