3. Tomorrow Will Be Different: Love, Loss, And The Fight For Trans Equality [Book]
Product Details:
New condition, paperback. before speaking at a national political convention about her experiences as a transgender person, the author struggled with the decision to come out – not just to her family but to the students at her university, where she was serving as student body president. she'd known she was a girl from her earliest memories, but it wasn't until a facebook post announcing her truth went viral that she realized the impact her story could have on the country. four years later, the author was one of the nation's most prominent transgender activists, walking the halls of the white house, advocating inclusive legislation, and addressing the country in the midst of a heated presidential election. she had also found her first love and future husband, a trans man and fellow activist, who complemented her in every way … until cancer tragically intervened. this book is the author's story of love and loss and an account of the lgbtq community's battle for equal rights.–adapted from dust jacket.
Reviews:
An amazing story, both tragic and inspiring. One of my favourite books, so well written and from the heart.sarahleighmarsh
Powerfully inspirational, an uplifting Transgender story that gives hope and PRIDE. Encourages readers to always…above all else…always be our amazing and wonderful selves living our truths.Transcends
This was one of the most amazing books I have ever read. I picked it up on Saturday and I could not put it down until I finished it on Sunday. Tomorrow Will Be Different is about Sarah's transition as a transgender female from Delaware. You will be completely wrapped up in her story and that of her husband, Andy. From her coming out to her using her voice, and her story, as an advocate for others in the LGBTQ community. She provides vivid accounts of her time in the White House as an intern, advocating for equal rights and equal protection in the Delaware State Senate, and on the death of her husband (this one brought me to tears). She is a warm and loving person and to read her words is almost as if you are sitting down with a friend and having a conversation. She is someone that I would love to have coffee with and want to educate me on the LGBTQ issues (there is a lot to learn here). The book is eye opening and I don't think you can read and not realize that there are changes that are needed in this country. Protections for those who are transgender are slim and don't provide them with nearly enough protection and dignity…may those necessary changes happen swiftly (they shouldn't have to wait).Rachelkyle
4. Trans New York: Photos And Stories Of Transgender New Yorkers [Book]
Product Details:
A visually stunning, landmark photography book of transgender new yorkers, complete with thought-provoking and revealing interviews that honor the transgender community and the courage it takes to find oneself and defy societal norms. a growing portion of the lgbtq+ community identifies as transgender; they are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters; actors, writers, singers, and politicians; young, old, black, white, latinx, and asian; farmers, suburbanites, and new yorkers. but trans people today face the same challenges that gay people faced in the 1980s, often forced to the periphery of society by prejudice and fear and subject to a lack of legal representation, workplace harassment, and insufficient healthcare. and while an increasing amount of people report that they personally know a transgender person, trans people still contend with the stigma, violence, and discrimination that accompanies a lack of representation and a lack of visibility. after traveling the world as a documentary photographer, peter bussian returned home to new york city and decided to focus his lens on his transgender neighbors. he met with people who identify as trans, genderqueer, or gender nonbinary, and often their significant others, friends, or family members. his photos capture them on the streets of new york and at their favorite haunts. the result is intimate access to a population all-too-often underrepresented or misrepresented in popular media. one of the first books of its kind and a visual tour de force, trans new york gives rare and remarkable insights into the journey of transition, combats misconceptions and stereotypes, and celebrates the autonomous articulation of sexuality, gender, and self that new york, in all of its beauty, honesty, and compassion, welcomes.
Reviews:

5. How We Do Family: From Adoption To Trans Pregnancy, What We Learned About Love And Lgbtq Parenthood [Book]
Product Details:
I can't do this, i thought. it's too hard and too much. i was still crying quietly into my hands when i heard a small sound and looked up to find lucas standing in front of me. i was mortified at the idea of him seeing me show any sign of weakness-i'd been raised in a home where parents never shared that level of emotion with their children-and tried unsuccessfully to wipe evidence of my tears away. "it's okay," he said. "it's okay. it's okay." i realized that all of my time spent reassuring him that he was safe with me-it had all been worth it. as he repeated my own words back to me, my sadness turned to joy. i reached my arms out to him and he collapsed into me. i put my feelings of shame at showing weakness aside and absorbed the moment for what it really was-two people expressing love and empathy for each other. book jacket.
Reviews:
My ebook advanced copy was from Netgalley. The only requirement was that I write a review, regardless of what that might be. I have been honest; Any human that's ever been in a relationship of any kind (and that's all of us!) will relate to Trystan's style and stories; at various points find themselves saying" Yup. I've been there..Oooh! I remember that…. What not everyone can relate to is the transphobia the author and his loved ones had to deal with, on top of the challenges involved in just itbeing a family.Their story, told through the authors eyes in How We Do Family, was funny and heart warming, a love story and parenting book, a lesson in accepting and celebrating differences while defining the treasure of what the word family actually means. Yes, this story is a beautiful example of what is catergorized as LGBTQA+ literature but really? Its about humans and love. Read this. Please. And then tell everyone you know about .Holly
It doesn't matter what anyones sexual orientation is or how their family structure is built: any age can read this book and find it relatable. Whether your dating, living together, married or being a parent, Trystan's story will make you go "yup. been there. Ooh, I remember that.. " The part that is not relatable to us all is the transphobia their family had to deal with. How We Do Family tells the story in a style that is enjoyable to read, educational so we can relate to what they're going through without having experienced it and just plain good. I was blessed to get to know Trystans story through these pages and hope the world gets to know it. My copy was an advanced digital copy, compliments of Netgalley, with the only request being I write a review. I was honest. This book is an easy read with every possible aspect of a good storyline you could want. The beautiful part? Its real life. How We Do Family. Read it, please and tell everyone you know.Holly

If you're looking for a new doorstop, or enjoy listening to your conspiracy theorist uncle rambling at Christmas lunch, then this is the book for you. If you however, have any notion of critical thought or any kind of respect for academic integrity, then give this old man's rant a miss.Casual Reader
Very informative and interesting.Nici
I'm concerned for our society when books like this are publicised under a facade of balanced perspectives. If you read this book to seek a perspective on this issue, be sure to seek the perspective of those with actual lived experience of this issue. Listen to the stories and lived experience of gender diverse people and those that love them, and not just the hateful ramblings of an old white man.Mantha

In the year 2020, the very least to be expected is to listen to and learn from the voices of actual transgender people, rather than those who peddle a "Biblical" and outdated idea of who we are all created to be.

Product Details:
Foreword reviews' indiefab honorable mention few topics are more contested today than gender identity. in the fog of the culture war, complex issues like gender dysphoria are reduced to slogans and sound bites. and while the war rages over language, institutions and political allegiances, transgender individuals are the ones who end up being the casualties. mark yarhouse, an expert in sexual identity and therapy, challenges the church to rise above the political hostilities and listen to people's stories. in understanding gender dysphoria, yarhouse offers a christian perspective on transgender issues that eschews simplistic answers and appreciates the psychological and theological complexity. the result is a book that engages the latest research while remaining pastorally sensitive to the experiences of each person. in the midst of a tense political climate, yarhouse calls christians to come alongside those on the margins and stand with them as they resolve their questions and concerns about gender identity. christian association for psychological studies (caps) books explore how christianity relates to mental health and behavioral sciences including psychology, counseling, social work, and marriage and family therapy in order to equip christian clinicians to support the well-being of their clients.
