Reviews:
Very easy read. Very relatable. Very insightful. Was not to sure I would like the book. Why? Because I felt Rachel Cruz was not genuine. But in the book she touched on how she tends to care how people view her and then I said “Well alright a breath of honesty”. Allowed me to respect her for calling herself out and knowing she needs to watch her own motivations on why she does things. With that I ended up loving the book and finding it extremely helpful. Thank you Rachel for being honest to who you are and humbling yourself to let the world know that you know your flaws and you work on them too!Doreen N.
An unbelieveably accurate view of money from an accurate unique point of view. My dad was an immigrant I was the middle child of 4 boys and an older sister. My dad was a college language professor. we ate well and farmed vacant lots in neighborhood. I was in high school the talent show night.A guy in my class had a little brother just like me in the class below us. The night of the show they both had new suits.!! I was so shocked WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR OLD SUIT??? My older brother got a new suit, I got his, then my younger brother got mine, and the youngest brother got his.!! I thought the whole world wore hand me downs??!! I never got over that punch in the gut of life, We were poor.!!I thought we were normal.!! I flew cargo jets in the USAF one day after flying wounded solders on their way stateside I met one of the nurses at the club for drinks and dinner. She had gone to Ole Miss. and joined a Sorority we talked after many drinks. She brought several girls to her home one weekend. The girls were sitting on the porch after dinner when one of the girls said "I can't believe your folks live in abject poverty and sent you to college. She broke down in tears when telling this story after treating fifty terribly wounded and many drinks. It was a real eye opener into other peoples view of life and money. She had thought she was soo normal until then. I don't know where I fall on most of your scales. I was so immature and naive. I know dad hated Salesman.! I think he felt he was always being taken advantage of when we had to buy something. He bought a '48 mercury when he got out of the AF in '49. we still had that car when I graduated from UK. And was glad when it was my turn to drive it. I'll read it again I bought it for my oldest daughter working for Brain Balance really CURING Autism. She consults for the on in Franklin, too. Works 7 days a week counseling when not at a Brain Balance. Amazing work.!! Big Pharma fights them every day.!!Edward H.
Know Yourself Know Your Money was very illuminating. I am ashamed to say it, but I am a 64 year old woman who has never harnessed her finances. After reading Rachel's book I was able to recognize where some of my money dysfunction originated. Finances were a mystery to me, stuff came with employment when you got a paycheck, you could buy what you wanted. Until I started asking myself the difficult questions I was okay with my financial ignorance. Budgeting is still difficult, but I am attempting. I have paid off all debt except for my house. I have established the original $1000 emergency fund and I headed toward three months. I still have some money decision anxiety but when I read Rachel's book I was able to identify multiple issues that I need to address. But my anxiety is diminishing with every step I take. The one thing I have always had is the heart to give. I am thankful that Rachel's approach was tender enough to keep me interested in doing the work. Rachel made the process of handling money approachable.Gail N.
9. All The Knowledge In The World: The Extraordinary History Of The Encyclopedia [Book]

Product Details:
From the "deliriously clever" (boston globe) simon garfield, new york times bestselling author of just my type, comes the wild and fascinating story of the encyclopedia, from ancient greece to the present day." a brilliant book about knowledge itself." –deirdre mask, author of the address book"magnificent. … a perfectly styled work of literature – at times sad, at times funny, but always full of life." –engineering & technology magazine – the encyclopedia once shaped our understanding of the world. created by thousands of scholars and the most obsessive of editors, a good set conveyed a sense of absolute wisdom on its reader. contributions from albert einstein, sigmund freud, orville wright, alfred hitchcock, marie curie and indira gandhi helped millions of children with their homework. adults cleared their shelves in the belief that everything that was explainable was now effortlessly accessible in their living rooms. – now these huge books gather dust and sell for almost nothing on e – bay. all the knowledge in the world is a history and celebration of those who created the most ground-breaking and remarkable publishing phenomenon of any age. simon garfield, who "has a genius for being sparked to life by esoteric enthusiasm and charming readers with his delight" (the times), guides us on an utterly delightful journey, from ancient greece to wikipedia, from modest single-volumes to the 11,000-volume chinese manuscript that was too big to print. he looks at how encyclopedia britannica came to dominate the industry, how it spawned hundreds of competitors, and how an army of ingenious door-to-door salesmen sold their wares to guilt-ridden parents. he reveals how encyclopedias have reflected our changing attitudes towards sexuality, race, and technology, and exposes how these ultimate bastions of trust were often riddled with errors and prejudice. – with his characteristic ability to tackle the broadest of subjects in an illuminating and highly entertaining way, simon garfield uncovers a fascinating and important part of our shared past and wonders whether the promise of complete knowledge–that most human of ambitions–will forever be beyond our grasp.
10. A People's History Of The United States [Book]

Product Details:
"a wonderful, splendid book–a book that should be ready by every american, student or otherwise, who wants to understand his country, its true history, and its hope for the future." –howard fastwith a new introduction by anthony arnove, this edition of the classic national bestseller chronicles american history from the bottom up, throwing out the official narrative taught in schools—with its emphasis on great men in high places—to focus on the street, the home and the workplace.known for its lively, clear prose as well as its scholarly research, a people's history of the united states is the only volume to tell america's story from the point of view of—and in the words of—america's women, factory workers, african-americans, native americans, the working poor, and immigrant laborers. as historian howard zinn shows, many of our country's greatest battles—the fights for a fair wage, an eight-hour workday, child-labor laws, health and safety standards, universal suffrage, women's rights, racial equality—were carried out at the grassroots level, against bloody resistance.covering christopher columbus's arrival through president clinton's first term, a people's history of the united states features insightful analysis of the most important events in our history.
Reviews:
"A People's History of the United States" is an eye-opener about America's story from the point of view of ordinary citizens rather than the perspective of those in power. Author Howard Zinn challenges many long-held beliefs about our country and its leaders, such as Abraham Lincoln's views about "Negroes," and the similarities between the two major political parties in favoring wealthy citizens and corporate interests rather than the best interests of the poor, the disenfranchised and the marginalized members of our society. In many ways, this book leaves the reader wondering if anything we learned in history about the United States is accurate or just a good story of half truths designed to maintain control over the masses.Mj
This is a good entry book for people who wish to know the history of the United States. It covers most of the major historical points on the United States history with a fairly neutral viewpoint. Howard Zinn does an excellent job at consolidating vast amounts of information into a coherent and chronological work which holds your attention throughout.Liam
An amazing book about history that has been left out of the "victors" books! If we are ever to have racial peace, we must first have understanding, and this book will open your eyes.lisabrandstetter

Reviews:
I ordered this book for my son. He is 13 years old and came from China one year ago, it's a big surprise for me that my son got all “A”s in his first semester in middle school. I hope this book can help him to improve his English, this book is a paper cover, and it's lighter and easier to carry, by the way, there are a lot of beautiful and designed well photos inside. But the shortcoming is the knowledge inside is very simple and easy, if you want to study deeply, it's not a good option, but for language learning, it's a good choice.Ben

I bought the book about a month ago and was immediately impressed with the number of trivia facts and the subjects it covered.southcentralteach
Nice mix of trivia questions, ranging from very simple (some with hints!) to moderately difficult. Arranged by 12 varied topics, including history, entertainment, arts, wild things (flora, fauna, geography), quotes, memorials, presidents, 20th century decades, individual states, records (largest, oldest, etc.), and religion. Sadly, no science. Answers appear conveniently on the flip side of each page.peanutyabe

I like to do crosswords, particually general knowledge ones and my brother found this book in a charity shop and I thought it was so good I wanted one of my own. Thats where e-bay came in! A quick look through and hey presto there it was and for the princely sum of 99p + 1.75 postage. Cheaper than my brother paid for his!! It is easy to use and has lots of information you never knew you needed. Better than an encyclopedia.johnjohn1946

Anything that these gentlemen put their minds to is both entertaining and educational. Who in this world doesn't appreciate having their ignorance pointed out to them in such an obviously un-insulting way. I have always liked the QI TV shows and these books are an extension of that sort of entertainment. Easily written for the common pleb ( like myself ) to absorb and enjoy.
